在一个实施例中PCC 10可以包括非易失性存储装置形式的本地存储器(例如,磁盘驱动器或者固态驱动器,其组合等),用于存储A/V文件。为了保护以免终端用户去除存储装置并且将其连接到未授权的主机(例如,个人计算机),PCC 10可以使用密钥(例如,使用嵌入在PCC 10的集成电路中的密钥)将A/V文件以加密形式存储。在本公开的实施例中可以使用任何适当的密钥和加密算法,诸如使用唯一标识符,诸如PCC 10的序列号来产生适当的消息验证码(MAC)。按此方式,如果存储装置被从PCC 10去除,或者如果A/V文件被非法地从PCC 10提取,则A/V文件将对未授权的主机保持不可访问。
在一个实施例中PCC 10经过诸如高清多媒体接口(HDMI)这样的包括“不可记录”协议的接口向显示装置16发送经解码的A/V流。HDMI接口通过实施确保消费者装置是HDMI兼容的制造标准来实现“不可记录”协议。只有按照确保经过HDMI接口发送的A/V流不能够被记录的方式被制造,消费者装置被认为是HDMI兼容(并且允许使用HDMI商标)。因此,市场上不存在具有能够记录经过HDMI输入接收到的A/V流的HDMI输入的(兼容)消费者装置。HDMI兼容消费者装置的示例是通常具有多个HDMI输入的显示装置(例如,TV监视器)。
图2B示出本公开的实施例,其中PCC 10通过第一接口14(例如,外围接口,诸如通用串行总线(USB))发送针对A/V文件的文件目录信息,并且通过第二接口18(例如,HDMI)向显示装置16发送经解码的A/V流。第一接口14可以实现任何适当的协议,并且可以是有线接口或者无线接口(例如,蓝牙(Bluetooth)、无线局域网(WiFi)或者全球微波互联接入(WiMAX))。例如,用户可以将PCC 10通过第一接口14(有线或者无线地)连接到远程消费者装置12,接着通过第二接口18(例如使用HDMI电缆)将PCC 10连接到显示装置16。远程消费者装置12可以被插入显示装置16的第一输入端口(例如第一HDMI输入),并且PCC 10可以被插入显示装置16的第二输入端口(例如第二HDMI输入)。在一个实施例中显示装置16被用户控制(例如,使用遥控器或者控制面板的按钮)以选择在屏幕上显示哪个输入。例如,用户可以首先选择第一输入端口从而消费者装置12的GUI在屏幕上显示。当用户从PCC 10选择A/V文件中的一个来播放时,在GUI上显示改变显示装置16的输入到PCC 10输入的消息。在替换实施例中,当接收到显示A/V文件的命令时,消费者装置12可以命令显示装置16改变其输入到PCC 10。例如,用户可以用PCC 10在使用的输入端口对消费者装置12编程,从而消费者装置12可以命令显示装置16切换到适当的输入。任何适当技术可以被采用来改变输入,其中在一个实施例中,远程消费者装置12发送命令,类似于使用显示装置16的遥控器或者控制面板上的“输入”按钮。
图2C说明本公开的替换实施例,其中用于从PCC 10向显示装置16流发送A/V文件的第二接口18(例如,HDMI接口)被路由通过远程消费者装置12。本实施例使消费者装置12能够选择在显示装置16上显示自身输出或者PCC 10的输出。在实施例中,当用户从PCC 10选择要播放的A/V文件时,远程消费者装置12自动切换到PCC 10的输出,而不是例如使用户进行切换。
图3A说明本实施例的进一步细节,其中PCC 10包括控制电路20,其包括用于存储操作系统、文件目录信息和A/V文件的本地存储器25。在本公开的实施例中可以采用任何适当的本地存储器25,诸如磁盘驱动器,包括磁盘,或者固态驱动器,包括半导体存储器(例如,闪存)。其它实施例可以采用混合磁盘驱动器——包括磁盘和固态存储器——在实施例中,采用半导体磁存储器(例如,闪存)用于缓存A/V文件以确保适当的性能。
存储在本地存储器25中的文件目录信息通过第一接口14被提供到远程消费者装置12,并且解码器22解码存储在本地存储器25中的A/V文件以便通过第二接口18发送。远程消费者装置12包括用户输入接口23,诸如,红外遥控器或者无线电频率接收机或者按钮或者智能电话,其通过局域网或者广域网(例如,互联网)与消费者装置12(有线或者无线地)通信。远程消费者装置12还包括用于运行通过第一接口14与PCC 10接口的操作系统并且用于控制远程消费者装置12的操作的控制电路26。远程消费者装置12还包括用于解码本地存储的A/V文件以及用于产生GUI的解码器28。切换电路30(例如,复用器)被远程消费者装置12配置以在自身的输出和PCC 10输出的A/V流之间选择以便在显示装置16上显示。在此实施例中,远程消费者装置12的控制电路26不必须访问存储在PCC 10上的A/V文件,也就是说,不经过第一接口14或者第二接口18读取或者访问A/V文件。因此,远程消费者装置12不需要用于访问A/V文件的DRM许可,而仅仅命令PCC 10向显示装置16流发送用户选择的A/V文件。
图3B例说明公开的实施例,其中图2B的第一接口14和第二接口18被集成到公共接口32,诸如,HDMI接口。在此实施例中,用于发送文件目录信息的第一接包口14包括公共接口32的消费者电子控制(CEC)32A。CEC总线是单线“合用线”,通过例如标准HDMI布线连接多达10个装置。CEC协议包括用于物理地址(拓扑)发现、(基于产品类型的)逻辑寻址、仲裁、重传、广播和路由控制的自动机制。在一个实施例中,远程消费者装置12的控制电路26仅仅访问CEC总线而不需要访问携带A/V流的接口线32B。本实施例支持远程消费者装置12通过标准HDMI接口控制PCC 10,因而避免用于与PCC 10通信的单独的外围接口的额外花费。
用于发送A/V文件的第二接口18可以是有线或者无线接口。例如,在一个实施例中,第二接口18可以包括当前处于开发中的无线HDMI接口。类似于有线HDMI接口,按照确保A/V流不可被远程消费者装置12记录的方式实现无线HDMI接口。例如,远程消费者装置12可以被制造而没有用于解码HDMI信号(A/V信号)的适当的HDMI解码器,无论是否HDMI接口被有线或者无线地实现。
在第一和第二接口包括无线接口的示例应用中,PCC可以被实现为小电池供电的装置(例如,蜂窝电话),终端用户可以放置在衬衫口袋、文件包、提包中。在飞机上旅行时,终端用户可以在膝上型计算机上工作,其中在桌面上自动显示表示PCC的图标。终端用户可以使用文件管理器访问PCC,类似于访问内部盘驱动器(或者固态驱动器),其中可以在文件夹中显示A/V文件的列表。终端用户可以选择A/V文件中的一个在膝上型计算机的监视器上播放,除了PCC进行解码和向监视器流传送A/V文件之外。根据实现不可记录的流(例如HDMI流)的协议,膝上型计算机的操作系统将不访问记录在PCC上的A/V文件。
图4是根据本公开的实施例的流程图,其中上部部分被远程消费者装置12执行,下部部分被PCC 10执行。远程消费者装置可以周期地搜索附接的PCC(块34),或者当存在PCC时远程消费者装置可以被通知。当PCC被发现时(块36),在远程消费者装置的GUI中显示表示该PCC的图标(块38)。远程消费者装置从PCC读取文件目录信息(块40),当终端用户从GUI选择PCC时(块42),表示PCC上的A/V文件的文件名称的列表在GUI中显示(块44)。当终端用户选择PCC上的A/V文件中的一个时(块46),远程消费者装置向PCC发送命令以开始解码所选择的A/V文件为发送用于显示的A/V流(块48),并且远程消费者装置自动地配置开关从而PCC的输出在显示装置上显示(块50)。在另一个实施例中,PCC的内容可以被读取为远程消费者装置的文件目录的扩展并且向用户无缝地示出,就好像内容是远程消费者装置自身上的记录节目。
在PCC解码并且播放A/V文件时(块52),远程消费者装置可以接收涉及被显示的内容的用户命令(块54)。例如,终端用户可以产生用于执行技巧播放功能(例如,暂停、快进、快退等)的命令,其中该用户命令通过第一接口被发送到PCC(块56)。PCC通过修改解码处理执行期望的技巧播放特征来响应用户命令(块58)。
在一个实施例中,终端用户可以命令远程消费者装置停止从PCC播放A/V文件,(例如通过按下遥控器上的“停止”按钮或者“节目单”按钮)。作为响应,远程消费者装置可以命令PCC停止播放当前A/V文件并且将显示装置的输入切换到远程消费者装置的输出,从而GUI可以被显示。
为了增强便携性,PCC 10可以包括可充电电池,作为当连接到远程消费者装置12时的电源。另选地,PCC 10可以通过电源接口(例如,USB接口)从远程消费者装置12或者显示装置16得到电力。因此,在此实施例中,PCC 10不需要被插入到电源插口,因而进一步增强PCC 10的便携性。
在一个实施例中,PCC 10可以允许访问公共A/V文件和/或其它用户文件,从而PCC 10可以被用作常规的外部存储装置(例如,用于桌上型或者膝上型计算机)。任何适当技术可以被采用以从PCC的本地存储器25访问未保护和受保护的文件。在一个实施例中,受保护的A/V文件可以通过使用专用通信协议被传递到PCC 10,从而A/V文件以受保护的方式被存储。例如,在一个实施例中,PCC 10的控制电路20可以在本地存储器25中创建用于存储未保护的文件的第一分区和用于存储受保护的A/V文件的第二分区。其次,受保护的分区可以通过密码或者密钥被访问,以防止未授权的访问。在另一个实施例中,每个受保护的A/V文件可以通过使用密钥被编码,从而受保护的A/V文件可以存储在本地存储器25内的任意位置。
图5A和图5B示出本公开的实施例,其中PCC 10包括插座60,插座60包括用于与远程消费者装置12接口的控制电路20和用于对A/V文件解码以便在显示装置16上显示的解码器22。插座60还包括用于接收插入到接口62中的可移除存储装置25(例如,磁盘驱动器、固态驱动器,这些的组合等)的接口62,如图5B所示。插座60可以还包括适当的密钥,用于将受保护的A/V文件绑定到插座10(而不是到可移除的存储装置25)。此实施例支持终端用户购买仅仅插座62形式的PCC 10,接着插入任何常规的存储装置25,诸如可从作为本公开的受让方的Western Digital Technologies,Inc.得到的My PassportTM驱动器。本实施例还可以通过任意一个都可插入到插座60中的可移除的存储装置25的集合支持不受限的存储空间。
图6示出本公开的实施例,其中PCC 10可以被插入(或者与其通信)用于购买A/V文件的自助服务装置64。在一个实施例中PCC 10使用与互联网相比支持快速下载的有线协议(例如,USB、Firewire(火线)等)与自助服务装置64通信。自助服务装置64可以位于多个不同方便位置,诸如零售店、银行、大厦等内部。用户将他/她的PCC 10插入(或连接)到自助服务装置64并且从菜单66(例如,示出表示A/V文件的多个图标的触摸屏)选择A/V文件。在一个实施例中终端用户可以沿着读卡器68刷信用卡以购买他们的选择。在替代实施例中,信用卡信息或者用户账户信息可以被存储在PCC 10上并且被自助服务装置64自动读取。在后一个实施例中,终端用户可以输入用户名和密码到自助服务装置64以支持自助服务装置64访问信用卡信息和/或用户的账户。
在一个实施例中终端用户可以按日(例如,每日预定量的美元)或者按照订阅(例如,被允许以月费保持预定数量的A/V文件)从自助服务装置64租用A/V文件。终端用户可以按照任意适当方式“归还”租用的A/V文件。在一个实施例中终端用户可以将PCC 10插入到同一或者另一个自助服务装置64,其中自助服务装置64可以随后擦除或者禁用被记录在PCC 10上的A/V文件。在替代实施例中,PCC 10可以与维持针对多个自助服务装置和PCC的租用信息的中央服务器通信。例如,在一个实施例中,终端用户可以将他们的PCC 10(有线或者无线地)连接到连至互联网的计算机或者其它消费者装置。终端用户可以登陆中央服务器,随后通过使中央服务器擦除或者禁用被记录在PCC 10上的A/V文件,“归还”租用的A/V文件。在又一个实施例中,用户可以通过从PCC 10自身删除或者禁用A/V文件来“归还”A/V文件,或者在被观看预定次数或者在预定间隔之后,PCC 10可以自动删除或者禁用A/V文件。
尽管在特定实施例进行描述,但是基于本文的公开,其它实施例对本领域技术人员来说将是明显的。这些实施例仅通过示例呈现,而不旨在限制本发明的范围。实际上,在不背离本发明实质的情况下,本文描述的新方法和系统可以以多种其它形式实现。因此,本公开不限于任何优选实施例,而应通过参照权利要求而限定。
Claims (22)
1.一种便携式内容容器,包括:
解码器,可操作用以将音频/视频(A/V)文件解码为A/V流;
第一接口,可操作用以向显示装置发送所述A/V流;
第二接口,可操作用以与消费者装置通信;以及
控制电路,可操作用以:
通过所述第二接口向所述消费者装置发送标识一个或者更多个A/V文件的文件目录信息;
通过所述第二接口从所述消费者装置接收显示命令以在所述显示装置上显示A/V文件中的所选择的一个;以及
将所选择的A/V文件解码为A/V流并且通过所述第一接口向所述显示装置发送所述A/V流,以响应所述显示命令。
2.根据权利要求1所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述第一接口包括不可记录协议。
3.根据权利要求2所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述第一接口包括高清多媒体接口(HDMI)。
4.根据权利要求3所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述第二接口包括所述HDMI的消费者电子控制(CEC)。
5.根据权利要求2所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述第二接口包括外围接口。
6.根据权利要求1所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述第一接口和第二接口中的至少一个包括无线接口。
7.根据权利要求1所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述控制电路还可操作用以:
通过所述第二接口从所述消费者装置接收技巧播放命令;以及
通过修改到所述显示装置的所述A/V流的发送执行所述技巧播放命令。
8.根据权利要求1所述的便携式内容容器,还包括:第三接口,其可操作用以接收包括所选择的A/V文件的可移除存储装置。
9.根据权利要求1所述的便携式内容容器,其中所述控制电路还可操作用以从自助服务装置接收A/V文件。
10.根据权利要求1所述的便携式内容容器,还包括:本地存储器,其可操作用以存储一个或者更多个音频/视频(A/V)文件。
11.一种消费者装置,包括:
耦合到显示装置的第一接口;
第二接口,可操作用以耦合到便携式内容播放器(PCC),所述便携式内容播放器包括:
本地存储器,可操作用以存储多个音频/视频(A/V)文件;以及
解码器,可操作用以将所述A/V文件解码为A/V流;以及控制电路,可操作用以:
通过所述第二接口从所述PCC接收标识所述A/V文件的文件目录信息;
响应所述文件目录信息而生成图形用户界面(GUI);
通过所述第一接口向所述显示装置发送所述GUI;
从用户接收播放命令以播放所述A/V文件中的所选择的一个;以及
通过所述第二接口向所述PCC发送所述播放命令以解码并在所述显示装置上显示所选择的A/V文件。
12.根据权利要求11所述的消费者装置,还包括用于在所述第一接口和用于与所述显示装置通信的所述PCC的输出之间选择的开关。
13.根据权利要求12所述的消费者装置,其中所述控制电路还可操作用以:
配置所述开关以通过所述第一接口显示所述GUI;以及
在向所述PCC发送所述播放命令之后配置所述开关以显示所述PCC的输出。
14.根据权利要求11所述的消费者装置,其中所述第一接口包括不可记录协议。
15.根据权利要求14所述的消费者装置,其中所述第一接口包括高清多媒体接口(HDMI)。
16.根据权利要求15所述的消费者装置,其中所述第二接口包括HDMI的消费者电子控制(CEC)。
17.根据权利要求14所述的消费者装置,其中所述第二接口包括外围接口。
18.根据权利要求11所述的消费者装置,其中,所述第一接口和所述第二接口中的至少一个包括无线接口。
19.根据权利要求11所述的消费者装置,其中所述控制电路还可操作用以:
从所述用户接收技巧播放命令;以及
通过所述第二接口向所述PCC发送所述技巧播放命令。
20.一种消费者装置,包括:
耦合到显示装置的第一接口;
耦合到便携式内容播放器(PCC)的第二接口,所述便携式内容播放器包括:
本地存储器,可操作用以存储多个音频/视频(A/V)文件;以及
解码器,可操作用以将所述A/V文件解码为A/V流;以及
控制电路,可操作用于:
通过第二接口从所述PCC接收标识所述A/V文件的文件目录信息;
响应所述文件目录信息而生成图形用户界面(GUI);
通过所述第一接口向所述显示装置发送所述GUI;
从用户接收播放命令以播放所述A/V文件中的所选择的一个;以及
通过所述第二接口向所述PCC发送所述播放命令以解码和在所述显示装置上显示所选择的A/V文件。
21.一种操作便携式内容容器的方法,所述方法包括:
向消费者装置发送标识一个或者更多个音频/视频(A/V)文件的文件目录信息;
从所述消费者装置接收显示命令以在所述显示装置显示所述A/V文件中所选择的一个;以及
将所选择的A/V文件解码为A/V流并且向所述显示装置发送所述A/V流以响应所述显示命令。
22.一种操作消费者装置的方法,所述消费者装置包括:耦合到显示装置的第一接口和耦合到便携式内容播放器(PCC)的第二接口,所述便携式内容播放器包括存储多个音频/视频(A/V)文件的本地存储器,以及用于将所述A/V文件解码为A/V流的解码器,所述方法包括:
通过所述第二接口从所述PCC接收标识所述A/V文件的文件目录信息;
响应所述文件目录信息生成图形用户界面(GUI);
通过所述第一接口向所述显示装置发送所述GUI;
从用户接收播放命令以播放所述A/V文件中的所选择的一个;以及
通过所述第二接口向所述PCC发送所述播放命令以解码和在所述显示装置上显示所选择的A/V文件。
