Virtual environment server record is also broadcasted the URL (URL) being associated with three-dimensional (3D) surface in virtual environment, browser status information and optional shear parameters。When the incarnation of user runs into 3D surface in virtual environment, client obtains this URL and browser status information, and utilizes standard web browsers to obtain web content。This web content is stored in off screen buffer。Then content from off screen buffer is rendered as the texture mapping to the 3D surface of virtual environment by this locality。When in user one is mutual with web content, new URL and new browser status information are used to the web content obtained in an identical manner after updating。New URL and new browser status information are also delivered to server from client so that server can update URL and new browser status information in each other clients being associated with each in other users。
Description
Technical field
The present invention relates to communication session, more specifically to the method and apparatus for comprising web content in virtual environment (VE)。
Background technology
The 3-D environment that virtual environment simulation is actual or illusory, and allow multiple participant to come interactively with each other and mutual with the construct in this environment via remotely located client。Although other purposes of virtual environment are also just developed, but, a kind of situation that virtual environment can be employed is relevant to game。
In virtual environment, actual or illusory universe is modeled in computer processor/memorizer。Many individuals can participate in virtual environment by computer network, and computer network is such as LAN or the wide area network of such as the Internet etc。Each player selects one " incarnation ", and this incarnation is usually the three dimensional representation of people or other objects, for representing people or other objects in virtual environment。Participant sends order to cause its incarnation to move in virtual environment to the virtual environment server controlling virtual environment。In this way, participant can cause its incarnation and other incarnation in virtual environment and other object interactions。
Virtual environment is usually expressed as the three-dimensional form mapped of virtual reality, and can include room, outdoor zone, and other of the environment generally experienced in entity world represent thing。Virtual environment may also include multiple object, people, animal, robot, incarnation, robot incarnation, three-dimensional element, and allows incarnation to participate in the object/environment in activity。Participant to set up in virtual environment via virtual environment client on their computer to be existed, and by this virtual environment client, participant can create incarnation, then makes incarnation " life " in virtual environment。
Along with incarnation moves in virtual environment, the view (view) that incarnation experiences according to incarnation in virtual environment location and change。These views can be displayed to participant so that controls the participant of incarnation it can be seen that the thing seen of incarnation。It addition, many virtual environments allow a participant to be switched to different views, for instance, the where of virtual environment it is arranged in from the catbird seat incarnation outside incarnation。
Participant can use the conventional input device of such as computer mouse and keyboard etc to control incarnation。This input is sent to virtual environment client, this client forwards the command to one or more virtual environment server, and these virtual environment server are controlling virtual environment and providing the expression of virtual environment via the display being associated with the computer of participant to participant。
What depend on virtual environment sets up mode, incarnation possibility can environment of observation and selectively with the built mould object in other incarnation, virtual environment, the Robot Object Model in virtual environment, or environment self (that is, incarnation can be allowed to the lake in virtual environment or river went swimming) is mutual。In these cases, client controls input and can be allowed to cause the change of modeling object, for instance, mobile other objects, enabling etc., then these changes selectively can be experienced by other incarnation in virtual environment。
Being meaned that virtual environment server controls input in response to receiving the client for incarnation by " alternately " of an incarnation with another modeling object in virtual environment, in the environment modeled, simulation is alternately。In some cases, the mutual of automatic by an incarnation and any other incarnation, object, environment or roboticized incarnation will cause other incarnation that can affect in virtual environment, object, environment and automatic or roboticized incarnation or observed by other incarnation in virtual environment, object, environment and automatic or roboticized incarnation or the result of experience。
Virtual environment can be created for user, but, more usual is that virtual environment exists always, even if wherein user is not mutual with virtual environment, virtual environment also continues to be existed and supported by virtual environment server。Therefore, when virtual environment has more than one user, environment can continue when a user does not login to develop so that when next time, user entered virtual environment, virtual environment will become different from the appearance of last time。
Virtual environment is generally used for online game, for instance for online RPG (Role-playing game), wherein, and user plays the part of a character and controls most of action of this personage。Except game, virtual environment also simulates real life environments to provide interface to user being used for, and this interface will enable online education, training, shopping, business associate, and between many group users and between business and user other kinds of alternately。
When incarnation encounters other incarnation in virtual environment, the participant represented by incarnation is optional to be exchanged each other。Such as, participant can exchange each other by giving up breath to each other, or audio frequency bridge is established to enable the participants to talk to each other。
There is such moment, in virtual environment, now show that web content will be advantageous for。Such as, if virtual environment is used in retail ability, then it is expected in virtual environment and shows the web content about specific products。Regrettably, virtual environment engine is generally designed when supposition texture (texture) (dot chart on 3D surface) does not change regularly。Therefore, although web content can be taken as texture rendering to surface, but, update content and allow users to be challenging to alternately with content。
Being used in the business situation of business associate at three-dimensional virtual environment, for user, the uniform view with virtual environment is important。If it is seen that different things, they are difficult to cooperation。When web content being included in virtual environment, show same web content to all beholders thus be important。
A kind of method including web content is that web content manually converts to static two dimensional texture, and then this texture is distributed to multiple users of the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer generates。This solution is suitable bandwidth-efficient, because static texture can be buffered in each client easily。But, it must be manually updated and not provide user mutual。Specifically, owing to content is static, user can not be mutual with web content, for instance, go to have access to the link in other regions of web site。
It is dynamically render web content at server place that another kind includes the method for web content, and as 2D texture, result is pushed to user。This solution solves above-mentioned manual replacement problem, but, user and web content still can not be made mutual。Simultaneously as web content is dynamically rendered, bandwidth requirement can be more somewhat higher than manual switch web content。Being rendered it addition, web content is frequently used customization renderer at server place, this customization renderer is likely to not support all features of user browser。Therefore, the type of the content can being included is likely to be restricted, for instance, FLASH video and other contents generally supported by the plug-in unit in user's web browser。
The third mode including web content is that content is drawn directly into 3D surface。This solution enables each user to such as be fetched with content alternately by the chain in click web content, so that new content is provided on 3D surface。Regrettably, 3D surface application being plotted to virtual environment needs great bandwidth。Specifically, needs are rendered web content by server from the teeth outwards, and new content is pushed to each user near surface。Needs are performed by this when whenever content change, and for the content of such as full action video etc, will consume sizable bandwidth。Further, since content can be controlled by any user of virtual environment, server by need to realize a kind of as more than one user while attempt to whom arbitrates when controlling application obtain the method controlled。Correspondingly, it is provided that a kind of new method making web content can be included in virtual environment has superiority。
Summary of the invention
Virtual environment server record is also broadcasted the URL (URL) being associated with three-dimensional (3D) surface in virtual environment and optional shearing (clipping) parameter。When the incarnation of user runs into the 3D surface in virtual environment, client obtains URL and utilizes standard web browsers to obtain web content。Web content is rendered by this locality in off screen buffer。Content from off screen buffer is rendered as the texture mapping to the 3D surface of virtual environment by this locality immediately。User can be mutual with web content on 3D surface, for instance, by the link on selection webpage and other objects。In user one is such as fetched by the chain in click web content when interacting with web content, and new URL is used to be rendered into new web content off screen buffer, and is rendered into 3D surface from buffer subsequently。New URL and the browser status that is associated are (such as, cookies, JavaScript variable, Java, FLASH and other board states) also passed to server from client so that and server can update URL and browser status in each in other clients being associated with each in other users。The web browser of each user will obtain the web content of new URL, and uses browser status to render same content。Cookie is made to synchronize the account/session by allowing to use unique user in the session of co-browse。But, not every network application, thus can this option of on-demand disabling by the cookie synchronized is effective。By making each user this locality obtain web content, and this locality renders web content, it is achieved the amount of bandwidth needed for sharing application is greatly reduced。By enabling the server to synchronize URL and web browser state for each client, each user is it will be seen that same web content。

Detailed description of the invention
Following detailed description provides multiple detail to provide complete understanding of the present invention。It will be understood by those skilled in the art, however, that the present invention can be implemented without these details。In other examples, for the not obfuscation present invention, it does not have detailed description known method, program, assembly, agreement, algorithm and circuit。
Fig. 1 illustrates a part for example system 10, and this system makes it possible to the application output of the web content sharing such as web browser in the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer generates etc。In the example depicted in fig. 1, user 12 can access virtual environment 14 by packet network 16 or other conventional communications infrastructures from their computer 22。Virtual environment 14 is realized by one or more virtual environment server 18。Communication session between user 12 can be realized by one or more communication servers 20。
Virtual environment can be implemented as the one or more examples of use, and each example can be held place by one or more virtual environment server。The typically no incarnation perceived in other examples of incarnation when there is multiple example, in an example。Conventionally, each example of virtual environment is referred to alternatively as the independent world。Incarnation in the given world is allowed to communicate via the communication session of the held place of the communication server 20 with other users also in the same world with incarnation。
Virtual environment 14 can be any type of virtual environment, such as, the virtual environment created for game on line, the virtual environment created for realizing online shop, the virtual environment created for realizing online training facility, virtual environment for business associate, or the virtual environment for any other purpose。Virtual environment there is many reasons for which and is created, and can be designed such that and can carry out user alternately to reach specific purpose。The example of use of virtual environment includes, game, business, retail, training, social networks, and other aspects many。
It is said that in general, virtual environment will have the unique three-dimensional coordinate space of their own。Represent that the incarnation of user can move in three dimensional coordinate space, and mutual with object and other incarnation in three dimensional coordinate space。Virtual environment server safeguards virtual environment, and based on User avatar position in virtual environment, generates the visual display of each user。This view can be depending on incarnation just towards direction and selected viewing option, such as, whether user selects to make view to seem user and passes through the eyes viewing of incarnation, or user whether select from incarnation switchback panorama with check incarnation present position 3-D view and the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer produces incarnation just at What for。
Each user 12 has computer 22, and this computer can be used for accessing the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer produces。Computer 22 will run virtual environment client 24 and the user interface 26 to virtual environment。User interface 26 can be a part for virtual environment client 24 or be realized as independent process。Although specific virtual environment client is designed to be connected by interface with multiple virtual environment server, but each virtual environment that user desires access to may call for independent virtual environment client。Communication customer end 28 is provided to allow users to the telex network of the three-dimensional virtual environment produced with other participating computers。Communication customer end can be a part for virtual environment client 24, user interface 26, or can be run independent process on computer 22。
User can see the expression of a part for the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer produces in display/audio 30, and inputs order via the user input device 32 of such as mouse, touch pad or keyboard etc。For sending/receive audio-frequency information when display/audio 30 can be by a user in participating in virtual environment。Such as, display/audio 30 can be have the display screen of speaker and mike。User interface generates display output over the display under the control of virtual environment client, receives input from user and user's input is passed to virtual environment client。User's input is passed to virtual environment server by virtual environment client, and this virtual environment server makes the incarnation 34 of user or other objects under user control perform desired action in virtual environment。By this way, user can control a part for virtual environment, for instance the incarnation of personage or other objects associated with incarnation, changes virtual environment with other users for virtual environment。
Generally, incarnation be to personage or other in virtual environment, represent the biological three-dimensional rendering of user。User selects their appearance of incarnation when creating the profile of virtual environment, then such as can control incarnation action in virtual environment by such as making incarnation walk, run, wave, talk or make similar action。Therefore, represent that the frame 34 of the incarnation in virtual environment 14 is not intended to the expection mode that display incarnation occurs in virtual environment。On the contrary, the actual appearance of incarnation is unessential, because the actual appearance of the incarnation of each user is desirably different to a certain extent, and the preference according to user is customized。Owing to concept discussed here is unessential by the incarnation actual appearance in the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer generates, therefore incarnation here generally represents with simple geometric figure or two-dimensional graphics but not the complex three-dimensional figure of such as human or animal etc。
Fig. 2 illustrates the exemplary three dimensional virtual environment that computer generates。In the illustrated example shown in fig. 2, it is shown that incarnation 34A, it stands in before label 42, and this label is attached on mark post。User can use user interface 26 to make incarnation walk in virtual environment with close to the object in virtual environment。Such as, user can make incarnation move towards the label 42 shown in Fig. 3, and incarnation can be made to move towards oval window 40 (Fig. 4), makes incarnation move to window 41, door 43, or makes incarnation move in virtual environment elsewhere。Can providing a user with the view of virtual environment, this view is arranged in after incarnation (as shown in Figure 2) to check that incarnation is in virtual environment location。Alternatively, the seen view representing incarnation in virtual environment can be provided a user with, just look like that user is by inside the eyes virtual environment of incarnation (Fig. 3 and Fig. 4)。
For purposes of clarity, an only incarnation (incarnation 34A) shown in the depicted portion of virtual environment in the illustrated example shown in fig. 2。Virtual environment can be used by hundreds of or thousands of user simultaneously, and this makes virtual environment for being desirable in shared among users information and idea。It addition, according to embodiments of the invention, exterior content can be included in virtual environment so that exterior content also can be shared by user。Which enhance the serviceability of virtual environment, because the content from external source being provided to virtual environment will be shared in such a way and handle, that is, all users near this content are it will be seen that handle and have the similar view to content in virtual environment。Content can be the static content of such as webpage etc, it is possible to be the dynamic content of such as FLASH video etc, or can be other kinds of content。Owing to content is received in this locality, therefore content can be supported by the plug-in unit of user browser so that the type of content is not limited by the technical limitations of server。By also sharing browser status information, the user of virtual environment is it can be seen that the synchronized views of web content。
Fig. 3 illustrates example web page 50, and it has been rendered on the three-dimensional surface 52 in virtual environment 14。Three-dimensional surface 52 in this example is similar to the label being attached on mark post。Fig. 4 illustrates another example, and wherein, three-dimensional surface is similar to the oval bulletin board being attached to wall。
URL can be associated by virtual environment server with any surface desired in virtual environment。URL can be associated with surface and is associated with acquiescence texture by URL alternatively by server, rather than by texture rendering to three-dimensional surface。Virtual environment server can also include initial one group cookie, JavaScript variable, Java, FLASH and other board state information should being associated with URL。Extra status information allows the user checking the virtual environment of web content can have the synchronized views about web content。
Virtual environment server also can by shear parameters association to provide, to client, the information that how formatted the size about usable surface and the content from webpage should be when being rendered in virtual environment。Virtual environment server may specify other attributes being associated with surface, such as, who is it can be seen that the content that is associated with surface, which incarnation can be mutual with content, incarnation is come mutual with content the need of the particular tool of such as virtual laser indicator etc, or any other will be placed in the restriction in content。
According to embodiments of the invention, when the content that web content or other application generate is received by client, these contents are by the one or more three-dimensional surfaces in the three-dimensional virtual environment being drawn to computer generation。Incarnation/user can check content and mutual with content。The mutual of one user will be processed and seen by every other incarnation。In this way, can computer generate three-dimensional virtual environment in sharing application。The non-web content owing to virtual environment server sends URL and browser status, therefore, being minimized for the amount of bandwidth comprising web content needed for virtual environment server。
Virtual environment server may want to restriction content so that once only having a people can be mutual with content。For this, virtual environment server can allow users to select content second time click on content to cancel selection content by click on content, thus " inspection " content。When client selection check content, this client is responsible for issuing order with update content in a desired manner, until it abandons the control to content。Can depend on realizing the strategy realized in virtual environment to who can control in virtual environment content and by how in virtual environment many implementations of the restriction of Compliance control。
Fig. 3 illustrate incarnation when stand directly on label 52 above make it will be seen that view。In this view, three-dimensional surface 52 looks like flat。Fig. 4 illustrate if incarnation label from a different perspective it will be seen that the view of same label。From this angle, this label in incarnation it appear that different。But, incarnation is just from an angle label, and this is close to from an edge label。Incarnation has the similar angle about oval bulletin board 40。Such as, from the catbird seat of Fig. 2, oval billboard seems less and seems to extend at an angle three-dimensional environment。But, when user transfers to angle illustrated in fig. 4, oval billboard looks like flat, and is located immediately at user front。Term used herein above " 3D surface " will refer to the arbitrary plane in three-dimensional virtual environment, and no matter this plane is flat two dimensional surface, or shape with another three dimensional constitution in virtual environment。Such as, it not on label 52, render web content, but web content can be rendered on some of mark post 54。
Fig. 1 includes multiple arrow (with 1 to 8 labels), and these arrows illustrate and can be used for making it possible to the exemplary process of sharing application in virtual environment。In example shown in FIG, it is assumed that virtual environment will include the web content that can obtain from web server 19。It will be assumed that web content can be obtained via the URL1 in web server 19。
To enable obtain web content in virtual environment, virtual environment server is associated by rendering contexts and by URL (URL-1) and browser status with the specific region of virtual environment。Such as, as in figure 2 it is shown, URL-1 can be associated with the billboard 40 in virtual environment or label 42。The virtual environment parameters comprising URL (URL-1) will be sent to each user (arrow 1)。
Virtual environment client 24 will render virtual environment for user。Virtual environment client also will determine to comprise which URL in virtual environment, and URL passes to the web browser 25 (arrow 2) on subscriber computer。About this, virtual environment client also it may be determined whether any browser status information being associated with this URL, and if exist, browser status information will be passed to web browser together with URL。
Web browser 25, when receiving URL, will obtain the content being associated with URL from web server 19。Specifically, web browser will send the request (arrow 3) to content and receives content (arrow 4)。When incarnation runs into surface in virtual environment, web browser can request URL, or alternatively can in different time point request URL。For example, it is possible to prompting web browser request and the URL of all URL in all URL in the URL in the certain radius of the incarnation in virtual environment, certain volume (volume), one group of volume or other modes content being associated。
When web browser receives content, content is rendered in buffer 27 (arrow 5) by it。Store content in and buffer 27 makes content when needed can be used to be included in virtual environment。When the incarnation of user is in the areas adjacent being associated with URL, virtual environment client will be fetched content (arrow 6) from buffer 27 and content will be rendered on the suitable three-dimensional surface the User of virtual environment。
About perhaps rendering content in obtaining, web browser will use the browser status fetched together with URL so that checks that all users of specific URL have the synchronous regime such as having synchronized cookie etc。The example of browser status includes one group of cookie that the territory of the URL of the page and the just shown webpage being just shown is associated (be substantially name-value to), JavaScript variable, Java, FLASH and other board states。In order to obtain the web displaying of perfect synchronization on each client computer, all these status items will need to be synchronized。The present invention is not limited to obtain the embodiment of perfect synchronization。But, specific implementation will depend upon which the complexity of exchanged state。Therefore, if it is unpractical for obtaining perfect synchronization, the amount of synchronization is by the complexity to exchange complex state information in return。
Cookie is made to synchronize to be used in co-browse session the account/session allowing unique user。But, not all web application is by effective to the cookie synchronized, thus can disable this option if desired。
Each client will perform this process in a parallel fashion, and therefore, each client obtains the content of oneself version being associated with URL1 and uses status information to make its webpage view Tong Bu with the webpage view of other users from web server 19。Owing to each client directly obtains content from web server, therefore virtual environment server without perhaps passing to each user by content in obtaining。Which reduce the bandwidth requirement of virtual environment server so that virtual environment server is easier to include in virtual environment dynamic content。It addition, can be reduced by reality with including the process power that content is associated, because virtual environment server is not required to use content to create the texture of three-dimensional surface, but only URL is associated with surface。
Assuming that the content being associated with URL-1 includes linking URL-2, and in user 12 selects to use this chain to fetch and checks the 2nd URL。In the example depicted in fig. 1, it is assumed that the user 12 shown with more detailed details is the user selecting the 2nd URL。When user clicks on links or when otherwise have selected second URL, virtual environment client will receive input via user interface 26 and new URL will be sent to web browser (arrow 2)。Web browser will obtain content from web server, and is rendered into buffer, and in this buffer, it will be retrieved and be rendered in virtual environment。Obtain the content that is associated with URL and to be rendered the process at three-dimensional surface described above。Click URL and also incite somebody to action in the web browser more new state information。
When user clicks URL to obtain new webpage and to update web browser state, virtual environment client will send message (arrow 7) to virtual environment server, this message includes new URL, update after browser status and the virtual environment coordinate (or other identify information) that is associated with URL。After status information after receiving new URL and updating, virtual environment server will pass to each (arrow 8) in other clients the status information after new URL and renewal。When client receive new URL and update after status information time, they by with web server alternately with obtain and the new URL content being associated。Status information after renewal makes browser Tong Bu with first user clicking this URL by being used to。Therefore, the content being shown in 3D surface can be synchronized between user。
URL can be located at specific position, or alternatively can be synchronized at the multiple interregional of virtual environment。It is therefoie, for example, URL can be associated with both oval billboard 40 and label 42。Similarly, URL can be associated with the screen in multiple regions of virtual environment so that a user can handle web content in a region and make content visible in other regions multiple of virtual environment。Therefore, web content can make the people of the zones of different of virtual environment can check similar content and be thus able to visually communicate with one another, even if they each other and are not adjacent to。
Fig. 5 illustrates and illustrates the flow chart that how can be integrated in virtual environment by content according to embodiments of the invention。As it is shown on figure 3, virtual environment server will generate the virtual environment embedding URL, and the virtual environment embedding URL is passed to each (100,100 ') in client。Each client will contact web server (102,102 ') to obtain the copy of web content (104,104 ')。As mentioned above, although client is all directly obtain content from web server in this embodiment, but, content also can be distributed in another way, such as by making web server content pass to virtual environment server (106) in order to be distributed to client (108,108 '), or by making web server content pass to some in client in order to be distributed to other clients (112)。As it has been described above, there is the multiple mode distributing content on a communication network, and the present invention is not limited to any ad hoc fashion for realizing this aspect。
If some of client is mutual with content, it causes that new URL (114) is chosen, then new URL and status information will be sent to web server so that new web content is downloaded to client (116)。New URL and status information also will be sent to virtual environment server (118) so that new URL and status information by virtual environment server by with every other client synchronization (120)。When receiving new URL and status information when other clients, new URL and status information are just passed to web server (122) to obtain new web content (124) by client。
Although it have been described that be wherein the embodiment of web content by the content being integrated in virtual environment, but, the present invention is not limited to this kind of mode, because the output from other application can be used as。For example it is assumed that some in user is just running the application being held place by the server on network of such as computer-aided design application etc。The output of this application can be streamed to user and be stored in buffer 27。When needed, virtual environment client 24 can use immediately this content and content is rendered in virtual environment three-dimensional surface on。Therefore, by the on-screen data making client-cache apply, can providing the output of any number of application in three-dimensional virtual environment, described on-screen data can be rendered by virtual environment client on one or more surfaces of the three-dimensional virtual environment of computer generation in this locality subsequently。
Although about performing to be included in the three-dimensional virtual environment that computer generates, with making exterior content, the various tasks being associated, specific software module and fragment are described, but, the present invention is not limited to this specific embodiment, because multiple different modes in the inter-module distribution function of computer system can be implemented。Therefore, specific implementation will depend upon which the concrete programming technique and software architecture that select for its implementation, and, the present invention is not intended to be limited in a shown architecture。
Above-mentioned functions can be implemented as one or more groups programmed instruction storing in computer-readable memory and performing on one or more processors in one or more computers, to those skilled in the art, clearly, all logics described herein can be passed through to use discrete component, the such as integrated circuit of special IC (ASIC) etc, the FPGA used together with the programmable logic device of such as field programmable gate array (FPGA) etc or microprocessor, state machine, or other equipment arbitrarily comprising its combination in any realize。FPGA can be temporarily or permanently fixed on such as memory chip, computer storage, memory stick, disk, or on the tangible medium of other storage mediums etc。All these embodiments are intended to fall within the scope of the present invention。
Should be appreciated that within the spirit and scope of the present invention, can carry out illustrating in the accompanying drawings and the change of embodiment described in the description and amendment multiple。Correspondingly, it is intended to make all are included in foregoing description and illustrate that content in the accompanying drawings is explained in the way of illustrative and not restrictive。The present invention is only limited as limited in claims and equivalent thereof。
