技术领域
本发明一般地涉及使用诸如TV之类的视音频设备来将受控设备通信相关参数(controlled device communication-related parameter)编程到遥控器中。
背景技术
可编程遥控器已被提供来控制不止一个设备。这种遥控器通常包括模式按钮,每个模式按钮对应于要被控制的组件,例如“TV”、“盘播放器”、“个人视频记录仪(PVR)”等等。当模式按钮被用户切换时,遥控器相应地切换其包括通信代码在内的命令集合以便与所选组件的受控特征相对应。
用户必须手动地键入与通信相关的参数,更具体地,与打算被遥控的组件相关的通信代码。这对于使得遥控器可以生成被要被控制的设备理解的命令信号而言是必需的。但是要求用户手动键入代码麻烦、耗时而且可能令人困惑,这是因为在试图(并且未能或能够)控制有关组件之前,用户通常不接收代码是否被正确地输入的反馈。
发明内容
一种视音频(A/V)设备被配置成响应于从遥控器无线地接收的导航信号而呈现一系列图形用户界面(GUI),用户能够对所述GUI进行导航以选择要被控制的组件。作为响应,A/V设备向遥控器发送与通信相关的信息来使得遥控器能够与该组件通信。
A/V设备可以是TV。在非限制性实施例中,GUI可使得用户能够选择组件的类型、组件的制造商和组件的型号。
根据另一方面,遥控器(RC)具有便携外壳、外壳中的无线双向收发器、外壳中的计算机可读存储介质以及外壳中的被配置成与收发器和存储介质通信以执行逻辑的处理器。所述逻辑包括经由收发器从A/V设备接收用于将命令信号传送给要被控制的组件的代码信息。所述逻辑还包括将代码信息存储在存储介质上并且响应于用户在RC上的输入而使用该代码信息来控制组件。
根据又一方面,一种方法包括:在遥控器(RC)和视音频(A/V)设备之间建立双向链路,并使用该链路来允许RC的用户调用A/V设备上的图形用户界面(GUI)。该方法还包括允许用户使用RC从GUI选择组件。属于该组件的与通信相关的信息通过所述链路被从A/V设备发送到RC。

首先参考图1,遥控器10包括容纳了处理器14和例如但不限于盘存储器、固态存储器等的有形计算机可读存储介质16的便携式手持外壳12。存储介质16能够承载数据,所述数据例如但不限于是组件通信代码及依据这里提出的逻辑的、可被处理器14运行的逻辑。
处理器14与外壳12内的无线收发器18通信以发送和接收无线信号。收发器18例如可以是红外收发器、射频收发器、超声波收发器或者其任意组合等等。处理器14可接收来自用户可操作的键盘20以及来自一个或多个模式按钮22的输入,每个模式按钮22代表特定的要被控制的组件类型,例如PVR、盘播放器、音乐播放器、TV等等。

图2示出根据本发明的能够被呈现在A/V设备24的显示器26上的非限制性图形用户界面(GUI)的一系列画面快照。如第一个画面快照所示,能够列出包括“设置(通常用于建立各种TV设置)”和“对您的遥控器进行编程”或带有该意思的措辞和/或符号在内的各种选项的顶级菜单可被呈现。其他顶级菜单条目可被提供。如第一个画面快照所示,用户使用例如遥控器10上的用于移动画面光标和指示选项的导航键选择了“对您的遥控器进行编程”。
这使得TV处理器30自动地显示第二个画面快照中示出的下一低级GUI。该GUI可被命名为“选择您的设备”(指用户希望编程到遥控器中的组件)并且如所示出的可列出组件的各种类型。
作为说明,假设用户在第二个画面快照中选择了“PVR”,则TV处理器30随后可自动显示在图2的第三个画面快照中示出的子菜单,该子菜单中可呈现制造商的列表。作为说明,假设“索尼”已被选择,则TV处理器30随后可自动显示在图2的第四个画面快照中示出的下一子菜单,该子菜单中可呈现所选制造商的PVR型号的列表。
作为说明,假设“型号1”已被选择,并且现在参考图3,则在块46处,TV处理器访问例如TV存储介质32以查找与所选组件相关的(一个或多个)通信代码。在块48处,TV处理器30随后使得(一个或多个)代码从A/V收发器36被发送到遥控器收发器18。在块50处,遥控器处理器14进而将(一个或多个)代码存储在遥控器存储介质16中,以便当相关的模式按钮22在块52处被选择以控制该组件时,处理器14在向该组件发信号时访问正确的代码。
如果需要的话,现在返回图2,在(一个或多个)代码已从A/V设备24被发送到遥控器10之后,第五个GUI可被呈现在A/V显示器26上,指示遥控器10已被成功地编程。该GUI可响应于来自遥控器10的、关于有效代码已被接收的确认信号而被呈现。该GUI随后可提示用户通过尝试控制该组件(例如图1所示的组件38)来测试编程。如所示出的,该GUI还可提示用户选择遥控器10上的正确模式。另外,由于A/V设备24和遥控器10之间的双向通信,可令显示器26显示当前在遥控器10上被选择的实际模式。

Claims (17)

1.一种视音频(A/V)设备(24),被配置成响应于从遥控器(10)无线地接收的导航信号而呈现一系列图形用户界面(GUI),用户能够对所述图形用户界面进行导航以选择要被控制的组件(38),作为响应,所述A/V设备向所述遥控器(10)发送与通信相关的信息来使得所述遥控器能够与所述组件(38)通信。
2.根据权利要求1所述的A/V设备,其中所述A/V设备(24)是TV。
3.根据权利要求1所述的A/V设备,其中GUI使得用户能够选择组件(38)的类型。
4.根据权利要求1所述的A/V设备,其中GUI使得用户能够选择组件(38)的制造商。
5.根据权利要求1所述的A/V设备,其中GUI使得用户能够选择组件(38)的型号。
6.根据权利要求1所述的A/V设备,其中所述GUI被呈现在视频显示器(26)上。
7.一种遥控器(RC)(10),包括:
便携式外壳(12);
所述外壳(12)中的无线双向收发器(18);以及
所述外壳(12)中的处理器(14),被配置成与所述收发器(18)和存储介质(16)通信以执行逻辑,所述逻辑包括:
经由所述收发器(18)从A/V设备(24)接收用于将命令信号传送到要被控制的组件(38)的代码信息;
将所述代码信息存储在所述存储介质(16)上;以及
响应于用户在所述RC(10)上的输入而使用所述代码信息来控制所述组件(38)。
8.根据权利要求7所述的RC,其中所述收发器是红外收发器。
9.根据权利要求7所述的RC,其中所述收发器是射频收发器。
10.根据权利要求7所述的RC,其中所述收发器是超声波收发器。
11.根据权利要求7所述的RC,其中所述处理器(14)被编程以允许所述RC的用户对视音频(A/V)设备上的一个或多个图形用户界面(GUI)进行导航来选择组件(38)的类型。
12.根据权利要求7所述的RC,其中所述处理器(14)被编程以允许所述RC的用户对视音频(A/V)设备上的一个或多个图形用户界面(GUI)进行导航来选择组件(38)的制造商。
13.根据权利要求7所述的RC,其中所述处理器(14)被编程以允许所述RC的用户对视音频(A/V)设备上的一个或多个图形用户界面(GUI)进行导航来选择组件(38)的型号。
14.一种方法,包括:
在遥控器(RC)(10)和视音频(A/V)设备(24)之间建立双向链路;
使用所述链路来允许所述RC(10)的用户调用所述A/V设备(24)上的图形用户界面(GUI);
允许用户使用所述RC(10)从所述GUI选择组件(38);以及
将属于所述组件(38)的与通信相关的信息通过所述链路从所述A/V设备(24)发送到所述RC(10)。
15.根据权利要求14所述的方法,包括在所述A/V设备(24)处接收来自广域网的对所述与通信相关的信息的更新。
16.根据权利要求14所述的方法,包括在所述RC(10)处自动将所述与通信相关的信息与所述RC(10)上的至少一个模式选择器(22)相关联。
17.根据权利要求16所述的方法,其中响应于模式选择器(22)的选择,所述与通信相关的信息被用于向所述组件(38)发送命令信号。
