The apparatus comprises a planetary arrangement of flighted spindles , the planetary spindles being disposed around a central spindle . The flights on the planetary spindles engage with the at least one flight of the central spindle and also with at least one flight formed on the internal wall of a cylindrical housing . The ingredients which are to be gently homogenised and worked by being subjected to a rolling kneading action between the planetary spindles , the central spindle and the internal wall of the housing .
