Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a una composición acuosa incluye agua y una resina polimérica catiónica que tiene al menos un grupo aldehído reactivo y se forma a partir de la reacción de glioxal y un polímero. El polímero comprende al menos una unidad de repetición de acrilamida y al menos una unidad de repetición catiónica en donde el número de equivalentes de aldehído reactivo dividido por el número de equivalentes de glioxal residual basado en el peso total del polímero es mayor de aproximadamente 1,2, en donde antes de la reacción el polímero tiene más de aproximadamente 50% en moles de unidades de repetición de acrilamida y de aproximadamente 2 y el 30% en moles de unidades de repetición catiónicas, en donde más de aproximadamente 5% molar de las unidades de repetición de acrilamida se convierten en grupos aldehído reactivos en la resina polimérica catiónica; y en donde la composición muestra una ganancia de viscosidad de menor de aproximadamente 200%.
