Une forme d'exécution de l'invention est représentée,à titre d'exemple au dessin annexé, dans lequel: La fig. 1 est un plan d'une disposition préférée d'appareil comportant les diverses caractéristiques de l'învention; La fig. 2 est une vue de côté de cet appareil; La fig. 3 est une coupe suivant3-3, fig. 4;
La fig. 4 est une coupe suivant 4-4, fig. 3 z La fig. 5 est une vue - de côté à plu' 8 grande échelle avec coupe partielle, d'une partie de l'engrenage;

Maehine to cut the gears. This machine relates to machines for gear cutting, making it possible to obtain gears with straight or curved teeth and, in certain respects, it is particularly applicable to machines of the type to generation, in which the size takes place during the rolling movement of the part relative to to the tool, movement corresponding to to that which is obtained by rolling a gear on a rack, this rolling movement can of course be performed either by rolling the part relative to to the tool, or by rolling the tool relative to to the part,
or again by wedging the movement partly to the tool and partly to the workpiece, as is well known in machines of this general type.
The gear cutting machine according to the invention comprises a rotating cam connected for operation to the movable element to force it to perform a reciprocating movement, a device being provided for effecting a relative generator rolling movement between the tool and the workpiece in one direction, in order to form a tooth and a movement relative divider bearing in the opposite direction, to allow the return, division and advance of - the part relative to the tool.
Preferably the machine is provided with means making it possible to increase the speed of the machine, by actuating the parts at a certain speed while the tool and the part occupy the working position or contact position desired for size, at a greater speed when removed from this position, during the operation of the division.
Thanks to the above-mentioned arrangement it is possible to reduce the amplitude of the rolling movement required between the workpiece and the tool and to avoid the continuation of this movement, this </ B > which had been necessary until now to prevent the tool from cutting the part, except when these parts occupy the correct generation position. In a machine of this type, the usual operation consists of rolling the workpiece and the tool relative to to the other in one direction. while the tooth is being cut and to roll them one in relation to to the other in the opposite direction to allow the return movement to be made part and the dividing movement and bring it back into contact with the tool.
For more convenience, in the description which follows, the rolling motion mentioned in the first link will be called, generator rolling ", and the last mentioned movement will be called dividing motion", it being understood that these terms do not refer to that the relative rolling motion between the part and the tool, that the actual bearing is communicated to the part, that it is communicated to the tool or that 'it is communicated in part to one and to the other.
The general practice up to now has been to hold the tool and workpiece in the cutting position throughout the full extent of the generator bearing movement, making it necessary to roll the workpiece past the tool to 'at a point far enough away that, at the beginning and at the end of the generating rolling motion, the backlash does not have. the effect of striking the tool against the workpiece and producing inaccurate cuts.
In order to avoid this excessively long rolling action, the arrangement of the machine may be such that the part makes a partial return movement, or partially moves away from the tool, during the last part of the generator roll. , and the advancement of the workpiece to the cutting position is completed during the first part of the generator bearing.
In other words, instead of the entire returning and advancing movements of the part taking place during the dividing roll as was customary until now, the return will begin during the last part of the generator bearing and will end during the first part of the aiming bearing, while the feed will start during the last part of the aiming bearing and will end during the first part of the generator bearing. By to this working mode, the actual required turnover is reduced and the speed of the machine is increased.
The tool holder is preferably provided with a simplified form of adjustment device which is particularly applicable to machines in which the necessary rolling is effected by oscillating the tool holder mechanism, while the workpiece is rotated around. of its axis.
In machines of this type, it is necessary to provide means for moving the tool radially with respect to the support of the tool, that is to say to bring it closer to or away from the axis around which sorrel the tool holder mechanism, and it is advantageous to carry out this operation by a single adjustment of the tool holder by making it move along a curved line eccentric with respect to the oscillating support of the door mechanism -tool.
An embodiment of the invention is shown, to by way of example in the accompanying drawing, in which: FIG. 1 is a plan of a preferred arrangement of apparatus incorporating the various features of the invention; Fig. 2 is a side view of this device; Fig. 3 is a section following 3-3, fig. 4;

Fig. 10 is a diagram showing the relationship between the dividing and advancing return movements and the generating rolling movement in the present machine; Fig. 1.1 is a diagram of the cam which controls the return and forward movements.
The construction shown generally comprises a tool holder mechanism comprising a rotating tool holder shaft on a support or cradle which is arranged to oscillate in one direction to effect trimming and in the opposite direction to allow division.
The piece or blank to to be cut is mounted on a shaft hereinafter called a work holder "which receives a rotational movement about its axis in one direction during cutting and in the opposite direction while the part is spaced from the cutting tool and this work holder is placed on a table which receives a back and forth movement in a horizontal plane, this movement being preferably obtained by oscillating said table, with the aim of bringing the part to cut to the cutting position, that is to say at contact the tool for the size and move it away from this position to allow division.
The movements of the cradle or support of the tool holder mechanism and the work holder are slower during pruning and faster during return and forward movement and these different movements are controlled by a to shaft. continuous movement controlling a reversible shaft or controlled by the intermediary of an appropriate automatic reversing mechanism.
The arrangement of the gears between the control shaft and the driven or reversible shaft is such that the latter moves at a relatively low speed in one direction and at a relatively high speed in the reverse direction, the movement of the reversible shaft being suitably transmitted to the cradle of the tool holder mechanism and to the work holder.
The return and forward movements are effected by a control device preferably consisting of a rotary cam with continuous movement having a shape such as to force the work to < / B> advance towards the tool partly during the last part of the divider bearing and partly during the first part of the generator bearing, as well as to return the part partly during the last part of the generator bearing and partly during the first part of the divider bearing.
The cam which controls the return and feed movements of the work holder continuously receives rotational movement in one direction, preferably at variable speeds, and is actuated by the aforementioned reversible shaft through a mechanism which serves to convert the opposing movements of the reversible shaft into a continuous movement in one direction.
The adjustment of the tool radially with respect to the cradle or support of the tool-holder mechanism is generally carried out by mounting the tool-holder shaft eccentrically with respect to an adjustment frame and by mounting this frame adjustment eccentrically with respect to the support of the tool holder mechanism. By then pulling the adjustment frame at any desired point relative to the support, the tool-holder shaft is made to be seen, following a circular path, which forces it to move by approaching or moving away from the axis of said support.
In fig. 1 and 2, 1 designates the frame of the machine on which is arranged on the one hand, an element 2, extending upwards and supporting the support mechanism. tool and, on the other hand, a plate 3 which carries the table 4 on which the work holder is placed. The table 4 is arranged to oscillate in a horizontal plane around an axis -vertical 5 (fig. 1), in order to move the part to cut 6 so to bring it closer to and away from the circular tool 7 to allow cutting and divide the room.
For more convenience, the machine has been described in the case of a circular rotary tool arranged to produce curved teeth, called, "helical" teeth, but it is also applicable to machines serving for cutting. In addition, although in the machine shown, the workpiece and its support are moved to and from the tool to allow division, this particular kind of movement is not essential, provided that there exists between the tool and the part a relative movement which brings them in contact yes cutting position and separates them alternately, the process which consists in making move either a tool towards and from a piece to be cut, i.e. a piece to and from a tool, in order to perform the division,
being a assigned pro, well known to those skilled in the art.
The part or blank 6 is mounted on a work shaft 8 which carries a helical wheel 9 which is actuated by a reversing shaft 10 via a Il tree (fig. 8) during pruning, advancement and return, as well as through trees 12 and 13 during the division.
The device serving to support, actuate and produce the movement of division of the part to cut, y including orgartes mentioned above, is of construction as and as these parts are not new in themselves and only form part of the present invention as regards their relation with the mechanism that will be described later, it is useless to describe them in a more detailed- way. It suffices to observe that the part to to be cut turns in one direction while cutting is carried out and in the opposite direction when it is moved away from the tool, these opposite movements being transmitted from the 'shaft 10 which turns alternately in one direction and in the opposite direction.
The shaft 10 or controlled shaft, is actuated by a control shaft 14 which continuously rotates in the same direction and which is actuated by the motor shaft 15 carrying the pulley drive 16. The automatic reversing mechanism which connects the drive shaft 14 to the driven shaft 10 is of construction as either role being to connect a tree to the other by the i iitermédi ary of two rotating bushings or equivalent trunks which constantly rotate in g, nq annn,
# 4Q ef - --4 # mated with the ordered shaft at determined intervals.
In the known constructions the driven shaft which is controlled by the reversing mechanism moves to the same. speed in both directions and as a result the cradle of the tool holder mechanism oscillates and the work holder rotates at the same speed in both directions. Now, the arrangement of the mechanism shown is such that it makes it possible to increase the speed of the apparatus by increasing the speed of the return, division and advance movements, and this is achieved. by making the controlled tree 10 move faster in one direction than in the other, its movement being relatively slow during pruning and relatively fast in the opposite direction.
The relatively rapid movement of Parbre 10 is communicated by shaft 14, via pinions 17 and 18 (fig. 5 and 6), while the relatively slow movement is communicated by the intermediary of pinions 19, 20, 21 and 22. The pinions 18 and 22 are: attached to the corresponding bushings 23 and 24 (fi. 5), which are alternately coupled with the ordered shaft 10 by means of the aforementioned reversing mechanism. The gear train 19, 20, 21 and 22 consists of interchangeable pinions, which can be replaced by other sets of pinions.
The purpose of this is to vary the speed during pruning, lower than during the rest of the cycle, since it is often desirable to vary the cutting speed according to the sizes and types of gears to </ B> prune. The pinions 17 and 18, on the contrary, are arranged to give a constant maximum speed to the driven shaft 10 </ B> which communicates to in turn a maximum speed to the various parts of the apparatus, during the return, division and forward movements, this speed being preferably constant for all the gears < B> to prune.
In earlier machines, when it was necessary to decrease the cutting speed, we had to slow down the division and move forward, CO as it was ' The sequence is to considerably decrease the speed of the entire operation. On the other hand, thanks to the present arrangement, when it is necessary to effect any slowing down of the machine, this only has an effect on the operation of the actual pruning. , and a maximum speed can be maintained for returning, dividing and advancing, regardless of the of cutting speed.
The work-holder and the table 4, on which it is mounted, receive an os cillation movement to using a control device preferably comprising a rotary cam 25, attached to a shaft 26 which is provided with a helical wheel 27 wedged on it and controlled by an endless screw < B> 28 carried by a tree 29. It is necessary that the worm shaft 29 or controlled member, is actuated by the reversible shaft 10, so that the cam which controls the The advance movement of the workpiece to has the same variable speed as the shaft 10, and it is also necessary that the cam 25 </ B> and the shaft 29 is continuously controlled in the same direction.
With a view to obtaining this result, the following mechanism has been provided: The shaft 12 which is controlled by the shaft 10 has a corresponding reversible movement, and carries, wedged on it, a pinion 30 meshing with a pinion 31 which is mounted loose on the driven shaft 29 (fig. to and 8). A bevel gear 32 is also mounted loose on the shaft 29, to which is additionally attached a second bevel gear 33,
34 designates an idler gear supported6 by a 35 shaft and meshing with the pinions 32 and 33. The pinions 32 and 33 are arranged on suitable bushings provided with clutch claws 36 and 37 on their adjacent faces and 38 designates a sliding device, preferably constituted by a pin carried by the pinion 31 and cooperating alternately with the clutch faces 36 and 37. As the control shaft 12 moves first in one direction and then in the other, the pinion 31 has a corresponding reversible movement, and like the pin 8to,
is arranged to engage with one or the other of the clutch faces 36 and 37, these are controlled alternately by the pinion 31. When the movement of the pinion 31 is reversed, the pin 38 is forced to come to occupy its opposite position by the effect of the inclination of the clutch face with which it then cooperates.
When the bevel pinion 32 is actuated by the pinion 31, it turns idle on the controlled member29 and actuates the latter through the intermediary of the idler gear 34 and the pinion 33, while when the bevel pinion 33 is actuated by the pinion 31, it drives the controlled member 29 </ B> in its movement, so that the latter always turns in the same direction but at variable speeds corresponding to the speeds of the opposite movements of the reversible shaft 10.
The rotary tool 7 is mounted in a support or cradle 39 of circular shape which is arranged to oscillate on a guide 40 (fig. 4). The oscillating movement of the 89 cradle causes the tool to roll in front of the workpiece while the latter rotates around its own axis, which performs the generation of the tooth, and of course it is not essential that the rolling motion be communicated to the tool holder mechanism, provided. that the relative movement between the tool and the part is carried out according to the method well known to those skilled in the art, consisting in imparting an equivalent rolling movement, or at the part, or to the tool.
The cradle yes support 39 is provided with a helical wheel 41 (fig. 3 and 8) controlled by a worm 42 which is fixed to < / B> a shaft bearing Lin bevel gear 43, actuated by a bevel gear 44 carried by a shaft which is controlled by the shaft 11, by means of pinions 45, 46, 47 and 48 .
In this way, the support 39 of the tool holder mechanism is controlled alternately in one direction and in the opposite direction by the shaft 10, </ B > through the shaft 'LI and the transmission gear, so that it moves slowly during pruning and quickly during the period when the workpiece and the tool * are apart one from the other.
In conventional construction machines the real size of the part is linked while the cradle which supports the tool holder mechanism rolls upwards, that is to say during the generating rolling movement, while, while the cradle rolls down, that is, during the divider rolling movement, the workpiece performs its return movement and division movement and finally a further advance towards the tool. This is represented by the diagram of fig. 10, where the x line represents the ascending or generating bearing and the y line represents the descending or dividing bearing.
The part of the line x represents the period during which the actual cutting is carried out, the tool and the part being then in contact or cutting position, whereas the curves at the ends of this line represent the periods during which the cutting. part begins to away from the tool (curve of the upper end of line x), and during which the part completes its movement of advance towards the tool (curve of the lower end of line x). The straight part of the y line represents the period of the divider roll during which the tool and the part are separated and during which the part is divided.
The curve of the upper end of the line y represents the completion of the return movement of the part and the curve of the lower end of </ B> the line y represents the start of the advance movement of the part which returns to the tool.
The distinction between the present coristruction and the previous constructions emerges from a comparison between fig. 10 and fig. 9. In the diagram of fig. 9, x 'represents the period during which the tool and workpiece are in cutting position and y' represents the period during which they are away from the cutting position .
In the old type, the tool and workpiece are in the cutting position for the full extent of the upward or generator bearing and the workpiece does not begin to move away from the tool until when the descending or divider bearing; moreover, the workpiece also completes its inouvement of advance towards the tool during the downward or dividing roll.
Due to the fact that in the old type of construction, the tool and the workpiece are in the cutting position to both at the beginning and to </ B > at the end of the ascending or generator bearing, it was necessary to separate the tool and the part by an exaggerated rolling movement because, otherwise, when the bearing changes direction, the play of the gears would have forced the tool < B> to cut the part at an incorrect point.
This made it necessary to roll the components relatively much further than is actually necessary for the size, in order to separate them to allow the reverse rolling motion, which resulted in a corresponding increase. during the time required to complete a complete cycle.
Thanks to this arrangement, the workpiece to begins to move away from the tool during the upward or generating roll and the movement of The advance of the part is completed during the first part of the upward rolling. As a result , at the start and ù. the end of the generator rolling, the The tool and workpiece are moved away from the cutting position and only in the cutting position during the generation or cutting operation.
This considerably decreases the actual amplitude of the rolling movement required in both directions and, by operating the parts at a higher speed during the divider roll, 011 increases significantly. the effective speed of the machine and its production capacity.
The return and advance movements of the workpiece from and towards the tool are produced by the cam 25 which rotates continuously and cooperates with the table 4, on which the work holder is mounted. The cam 25 is formed, having regard to the times at which the rolling movement of the tool holder mechanism must take place, so as to force the part to < / B> start its return or its outward movement pal, report to the tool during the last part of the upward rolling and to force it to to complete its final feed movement towards the tool during the first part of the upward roll.
The tool 7 is mounted on titi tool holder constituted by titi rotating shaft 50 which is supported in titi adjustment frame 51. The shaft 50 is disposed eccentrically with respect to the adjustment frame 51 and the latter is disposed eccentrically with respect to the cradle 39 in a guide groove appropriate to said cradle, raintire in which to turn the rim 52 of the adjustment frame.
The tool-holder plate is fitted with a internal toothed wheel 53 actuated by titi pinion 54 which is wedged on a shaft 55 also mounted on the adjustment frame 51. The shaft 55 carries a bevel gear 56 (fig. 4) meshing with titi bevel gear 57 mounted on a vertical shaft 58 which receives its command, via a suitable gear, from the main drive shaft 15 as shown clearly to in fig. 8.
A toothed segment 59 fixed to the adjustment frame 51, meshes with an endless screw 60 carried by a titi shaft 61 </ B > (fig. 3). The shaft 61 also carries a bevel pinion 62 with which the bevel pinion 63 < / B> carried by a shaft 64, the latter being provided with a square end Uriah 65 (fig. 2) with the aid of which it can receive a movement rotation by hand to bring the adjustment frame to any desired position.
When rotating the adjustment frame in the cradle 39 the tool and the tool-holder shaft receive movement along a curved line which is eccentric with respect to the tool. to the axis around which the cradle sorrel 39, which has the effect of moving the tool towards the axis or from the axis of the cradle 39 . This tool adjustment is necessary to cut gears of different sizes and, thanks to the arrangement described, the necessary adjustment is carried out by a single movement of the following tool a curved line.
Although this is preferably done by arranging the adjustment frame eccentrically with respect to the tool cradle and by arranging the tool-holder shaft eccentrically with respect to the adjustment frame, there are possibilities. other means making it possible to give to the tool the necessary adjustment by a single movement in relation to the support of the tool-holder mechanism.
The operation of the machine is in summary as follows: the correct position of the tool in relation to to the part is carried out by rotating the adjustment frame 51 in the support 39 and we also adjust the part in a suitable position on either shaft and its support table. We then put the ma chine cri marche and we first advance the part towards the tool. The support 39 of the tool-holder mechanism then begins to rotate, describing the movement that has been called the upward or generator bearing and the rotating tool-holder shaft 50 is thus driven upwards in this rolling movement to cause the tool to move in front of the part while the latter rotates around its own axis.
During the first part of the generator rotation, the part advances towards the tool until these members occupy the suitable working position. This is followed by the actual cutting work that occurs during most of the upward rolling and until the part begins to to move away from the tool or to move away from the tool. return to its split position, which takes place, during the last part of the upward roll.
The return movement of the workpiece, which takes place during the last part of the generator bearing, is only sufficient to move the tool away from the cutting position, and this tool only comes fully free during the downward bearing. When the part has been moved enough to no longer occupy the cutting position, the rolling movement changes direction, i.e. the support 39, begins to turn in the opposite direction to perform the downward rolling and that the rotation of the part around its own axis changes direction.
During this. descending or dividing bearing of the 39 support and the workpiece, the work holder continues to move away from the tool to complete the return movement and the division of the part is then carried out. This having taken place, the work holder is returned towards the tool to again produce the advance of the workpiece to the cutting position during the last part of the downward or dividing roll, the movement. advancement of the part towards the tool ending during the first part of the upward rolling of the following cycle.
The speed of the various components during the downward rolling is preferably constant for all kinds of work and is greater than that of the upward rolling when pruning takes place, and the speed of the organs during the ascending bearing or 01enerator can be adjusted according to the dimensions and characteristics of the part.
