Lorsque les clapets 10, 10' occupent la position montrée en traits pleins à fig. 1, et que le diaphragme 11 occupe la position dans laquelle ses fentes coïncident avec les fentes 4 de la cloison, les deux comparti ments 2, 2' sont en communication entre eux à travers ces fentes et le courant d'air engen dré par le ventilateur 7 suit le parcours mar qué par les flèches pleines à fig. 1, dans le sens indiqué ou dans le sens opposé selon le sens de rotation du ventilateur 7;
Un renouvellement progressif de l'air en circulation est réalisé en réglant la position des clapets 12, 12' par la. manaeuvre du levier 26. Lorsque les clapets 12, 12' ferment les ouvertures du !conduit 6, les .courants d'air engendrés par les ventilateurs 15 et 15' sui vent le parcours marqué par les flèches en fig. 1. c'est-à-dire qu'ils passent de la ehanr- bre 13 à celle 14 et delà à. l'extérieur, ou bien de la chambre 14' à celle 13' et de là à l'extérieur; par contre si les clapets 12 el;
Dryer. The present invention relates to a dryer constituted by chambers intended to receive the material to be dried, in which each chamber is divided into two compartments in communication with one another and with a duct where a current of is produced. air, by means of openings controlled by shutters, the control of which is coordinated so that the air flow can pass through the compartments in two different directions.
In the accompanying drawing is shown, by way of example, an embodiment of the dryer according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is the longitudinal section along A-B of FIG. 2; Fig. 2 is the plan section, clans its left half, along B-F of fig. 1. and in its right half following G-H; Fig. 3 is the side elevation, and FIG. 4 is, in its left half, the view: from the front and, in the, right half, the. cross section along C-D, fig. 1.
In these figures, the dryer consists of two chambers 1, accessible by means of doors 1 '(fi. 3) and each divided into two compartments 2, 2' by a vertical partition comprising an opening 3 at its top and superimposed openings 4.
The two compartments 2, 2 'are in communication with Banaux 5 and 5' terminating at both ends of a duct 6 where the member producing a current of air is mounted, which member consists of a ventilator. 7 with reversible step wedged on a shaft 8 which receives its movement from the outside. In this duct 6 are also housed elements for heating the air, shown schematically at 9.
Each of the compartments 2, 2 ': also communicates directly with the duct 6 through a mouth controlled by a valve 10 or 10' which serves at the same time to control the communication of the duct 6 with the, channel 5 or 5 'where pallets 33 are mounted to ensure a uniform distribution of the air in the compartments 2 and 2 '.
The partition which separates the two compartments 2 and 2 'is formed by two rows of battens 32 which are spaced apart from each other so as to provide horizontal slots 4. The two rows of battens form between them a gap where a diaphragm 11 is housed supported by springs 11 'and pierced with horizontal slots having the same height as the battens. 32 and each of which can correspond with a slot 4 of the partition.
In the duct 6 are still pierced -of the openings controlled by valves 12, 12 'mounted so as to also control the. c.ominurri- cation between ducts 13, 13 ', leading to the outside, with chambers 14, 14' where fans 15, 15 'act on the shaft 8 provided with a pulley 16; these fans 15, 15 'have the vanes arranged to generate air currents in the same direction and, directed in the opposite direction to the current generated by the fan 7.
To be able to ma.nceuvrer at the same time the valves 10, -10 'and the diaphragm 11, the shafts on which the valves 10, 10' are wedged are integral with forks 17, 17 'which are resiliently mounted on the viers 18 and 18 'articulated with one end of the levers 19, 19' pivoted at 20, 20 '.
These levers 19 and 19 'are at. their turn a.r- ti: abutments with a threaded shaft 21 which can be moved axia.lement by the rotation of one ma; net 22 and one of the levers 19, 19 'is wedged on a shaft 23 on which are wedged the levers 24 connected with appendages 25 of the diaphragm 11 (fig. 1).
The rotation of the lever 22 thus makes it possible to bring about at the same time a vertical displacement of the diaphragm 11 and the rotation in the opposite direction of the two valves 10 and 10 '. The elastic coupling of the valve shaft with the lever 18 and 18 'makes it possible to give this one a longer stroke than that necessary, in order to strongly apply the valve against the mouth when closing. ture.
A lever 26 actuates, using connecting rods 2 7 and 27 ', the levers 28 and 28' of the two flaps 12 and 12 '.
To support the. material to accommodate the compartments 2, 2 ', the battens 32 carry angle irons 29 on which can be supported both frames 30 and sticks 31 (Fig. 1).
When the valves 10, 10 'occupy the position shown in solid lines in FIG. 1, and that the diaphragm 11 occupies the position in which its slots coincide with the slots 4 of the partition, the two compartments 2, 2 'are in communication with each other through these slots and the air flow generated by the fan 7 follows the path marked by the solid arrows in fig. 1, in the direction indicated or in the opposite direction depending on the direction of rotation of fan 7;
the air then passes from the rz-n Ù, the other of the conduits 5, 5 ', horizontally crossing the compartments 2, 2'.
If the diaphragm It is brought into a position in which it hides all the slots 4 and if the valves 10, 10 'occupy the position shown in dotted lines, the air current generated by the fan 7 follows the path of the dotted arrows in rnonta-nt vertically in one of the compartments 2 or 2 'to descend into the other clans which it passes through the upper opening 3. The passage from one to the other .de these conditions is carried out by the operation of the lever 22 which simultaneously causes the movement of the valves 10, 10 'and of the diaphragm 11.
The compartments 2 and 2 'occupied by the material to be dried can; therefore be crossed by the air current in two directions: perpendicular to each other and, of course, in one direction or in the opposite direction depending on the direction of operation of the fan 7.
A gradual renewal of the circulating air is achieved by adjusting the position of the valves 12, 12 'by the. operation of the lever 26. When the valves 12, 12 'close the openings of the duct 6, the air currents generated by the fans 15 and 15' follow the path marked by the arrows in fig. 1. that is to say, they pass from the 13th to the 14th and from there to. outside, or from chamber 14 'to chamber 13' and from there to the outside; on the other hand if the valves 12 el;
12 'leave the openings of the duct 6 more or less open, the ventilator 15' injects air into the duct 6 and the ventilator 15 sucks it in, so that a renewal of the air caused is obtained. by partial discharge and feed; this discharge and this supply being equal to each other, ie volume .d'air circulated by the ventilator 7 does not change.
Because the fans 15, 15 'run in the opposite direction to the current generated by the fan 7, the suction that the fan 15 creates inside the duct 6 when the valve 12 is more or less open. , causes the discharge of a portion of the circulating air before it comes into contact with the heaters 9, a condition which still exists when the operation of all the fans is reversed, in which case the air is sucked in by the fan 1.5 'and introduced by the fan 15.
The details (the embodiment described and represented can naturally change: for example instead of having two twin chambers 1. the dryer could have any number of them, and the fans 7 in duct 6 could be in any number. The fans 7, 15 and 15 'could also be actuated independently of one another and the means for supporting the material to be dried in the compartments 2, 2' can be of any desired nature.
The construction described makes it possible to produce a dryer in which the chamber occupied by the material to be dried can be traversed in two different directions by the current of air, so that it is suitable for drying products of different kinds. This construction is therefore suitable for small installations, for portable dryers, and, in general, in all cases where the same apparatus must be used for drying products which require different ventilation systems.
