Description

Device for filtering gasoline before vehicle engines arrive at the carburetor. One of the most frequent causes of breakdown is the impurities which are carried by the gasoline into the carburetor and which block the capillary orifices of this organ.

To overcome this drawback, the object of the present invention is a device for filtering the gasoline before the arrival at the fuel tank of the engines for vehicles.

The accompanying drawing represents an embodiment of the device given by way of example.

Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section thereof and FIG. 2 a schematic arrangement of the device, applied to the carburetor of a motor car.

The device comprises a cylindrical body 1, made for example by means of a brass tube with thin walls, in the ends of which are brazed two washers 2 and 3 and perpendicular to its axis a pipe 4, provided with a connector 5 , for the gasoline feed pipe 6, from the tank 7, A second removable tube 8, concentric with the body 1, is screwed by one of its ends into the washer 3 and is provided at the other end a head 9, allowing the tube 8 to be fully tightened in the washer 3.

The tube 8 is covered over its entire smooth length with a cylindrical screen 10, the inside diameter of which corresponds to the outside diameter of the tube 8. At one of its ends, the screen 10 is provided with a washer 11, for example made of fiber, clamped between the body 1 and the head 9 in order to ensure the sealing of the device.

The removable tube 8 is provided with several orifices or slots 12, ensuring communication between the bore of the body 1 and that of the tube 8. On the other hand, the washer 3 is provided with a pipe 13 in which is brazed. the tube 14 connecting the device to the carburetor 15.

The gasoline coming from the reservoir 7 enters through the tube 6 and the tubing 4 into the body 1 of the device. It passes through the sieve 10 which rids it of all impurities and passes filtered through the orifices 12 in the interior of the tube 8, from where it goes through the tube 14 into the carburetor 15. All the impurities are deposited in the tube. bottom of the body 1 between the two washers 2 and 3, from which they are periodically removed by unscrewing the tube 8 and washing the inside of the body 1.

When the device is mounted in the field, that is to say with its axis in the vertical position with the tube 14 at its upper part, the dump is formed by the space between the washer 2 and the tube 4.

The gasoline which passes through the device is freed of all the impurities which it conveys and which can no longer obstruct the capillary orifices of the carburetor, thus avoiding the patinas which could appear as a result. On the other hand, as a result of the difference in density, the water mixed with the gasoline also settles in the bottom of the body 1, thus purifying the fuel.

The device finds its application above all to motorcycles and other motor vehicles, whose installation and operating conditions do not allow the use of more complicated or more bulky filtering devices.
