15 be zeichnet das Kolliinatorobjektiv.
Device for determining a reference direction in a movably arranged optical instrument. When using optical Instrumen th on movable carriers, especially sighting instruments on aircraft, it is often desirable. to be able to determine the position of the target made visible by the instrument relative to a fixed reference direction in space through direct observation
This applies particularly to the case of using such a sighting instrument as a bomb-dropping device, where the moment of the bombing must be related to the moment at which a place lying vertically below the observer or a point at a fixed angle with the vertical, passes through the field of view of the instrument.
Means to hold the sighting telescope itself, with which the target is observed, fixed in a certain position in space, are generally unsatisfactory because they impair the free movement of the telescopic sight. Devices for the adjustment of physical sight markings for the purpose of stabilizing the vertical sight line of the telescope by means of pendulums, gyroscopes and the like generally have disadvantages which reduce their value.
The purpose of the present invention is to avoid the shortcomings of known devices of the type in question by dispensing with any direct control of the observing instrument or its physical sight mark, that much more care is taken only for controlling a projection device, wel che is outside of any mechanical connection with the observing instrument and which permanently throws an image of a physical mark into the latter,
so that it appears in one image plane of the observing instrument and, when the latter is swiveled, it moves in direction and measure in the same way as the target observed by the instrument itself. According to the invention, such a projection device is controlled in a manner known per se by a gyro system coupled to it.
The device is shown on the accompanying drawing of an exemplary Ausfüh approximately schematically illustrated.
1 with a sighting telescope is referred to as it is used as a dropping telescope on flight testify. 2 denotes a lateral attachment of the telescope and 3, 4 two reflectors, the latter of which is transparent, so that rays coming from the target and reflected by the adjustable entry reflector 5 and the fixed reflector 6 reach the image plane 8 unhindered after passing the objective 7 and can be perceived here as an image of the target by the observer through the eyepiece.
10 denotes a further objective through which the rays reflected by the reflector 3 pass before they reach your reflector 4 and then also in the image plane 8 are combined to form a target image superimposed on the target image appearing in the telescope. This visor mark image is indicated at 11 on the drawing.
The sighting mark itself, the image of which is created at 11 in the telescope, is located in a collimator 12 which is finite to the telescope 1 apart from any mechanical connection and in which it is arranged at 13. 14 denotes a strong light source arranged in the collimator 12, which illuminates the transparent visor mark 13 incised in an opaque plate so strongly that it is still sufficiently clear in the image plane of the telescope 1 even after reflection on the reflector 3 and the transparent reflector 4 11 is shown. 15 denotes the colliator lens.
The collimator 12 is connected on the one hand by a suitable linkage to the vertical cardan ring 16 of a gyro 18 rotating about a vertical axis 17 and on the other hand by a fork 19 with axis 20 to the axis 21 of the horizontal cardan ring 22 of the gyro 18.
The mode of operation of the device is as follows: The sighting mark 13 illuminated by the lamp 14 radiates against reflector 3, the incoming rays are reflected from 3 to 4 and thrown through 4 into the image level 8, which was in the Ab was the focal length of the lens 10 be found. The rays coming from the target, after being reflected at the reflectors 5, 6 and after passing the telescope objective 7, also reach the telescope image plane 8, where they are drawn from the image of the sighting mark 13 are superimposed.
Assuming that the apparatus were arranged on an aircraft which oscillates in space, then the gimbals 16 and 22 of the gyro 18 adjust the collimator 12 relative to the aircraft, the collimator permanently in its vertical position in the hoop maintains, while the telescope 1 participates in the fluctuations, but can be adjusted by the observer at will by hand, the sighting mark 11 @ moves in the image plane 8 by amounts,
which correspond to the inclination of the telescope 1 relative to the vertical, the focal length of the lens 10 must be the same as that of the lens 7 of the telescope, provided that the beam path between the lenses 15 and 10 is parallel.
The arrangement of the telescope 1 is made with its pivot point and the entrance pupil of the extension 2 so that the pivot point coincides with the intersection of the axis 20 of the gyro fork 19 and the axis 21 of the gimbal ring 22 in order to reach that all through the collimator 12 rays passing through are actually reflected by the reflector 3 towards the image plane 8.
Instead of placing the projection device controlled by the gyro system in front of a telescope, it could also be placed in front of any other optical instrument, such as a photographic measuring image camera, and a reference direction would then also be marked in the image plane of the same.
