Description

Box cover support. The object of the present invention is to automatically support the lid of a box when the latter is raised in a determined position while being able to close the lid easily and without noise. The object of the invention is a box cover support, in particular for talking machines, characterized by a connecting rod which is articulated to the cover and whose lower end is. guided in a groove in a wall of the box, this groove being provided with a depression for the reception of said end, when the cover is raised.

The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, embodiments of the object of the invention.

Fig. 7. is a longitudinal section following 1-1 of FIG. 2, of a part of a talking machine box to which the invention is applied; Fig. 2 is a cross section following 2-2 of FIG. 1; Fig. 3 is a horizontal section following 3-3 of FIG. 1; The fï-g. 4 is a detail of a second -. form of execution; Fig. 5 is a detail of a third embodiment.

1 designates the box provided with the usual engine-carrier plate 2, on which the talking machine (not shown) is supported. A cover 3 is hingedly connected at 4 to the upper edge of a wall of the box. One of the sides of the motor-carrier board is cut out on a part to form a slot 5, one of the walls of which is formed by the side of the box.

Inside one of the walls of the cover is secured, by means of screws 6, a tab "i provided with a hanging lug 8. This tab is located above the slot 5 when the cover is closed. .

A connecting rod 9 is articulated on the lug 8, the free end of which carries a pin 10 arranged to engage in a heart-shaped groove i1, formed in the wall of the box, below the slot 5. The che town 10 is advantageously surrounded by a tubular sheath 12 made of rubber, felt, leather, or tuft of other relatively soft material, in order to suppress the noise of the engagement of the ankle 10 with the walls of the groove I1.

The operation of the device is as follows: When the cover 3 covers the upper part of the box and the devices mounted on the top of the engine support board, the pin 10 rests in the lower end of the groove II. When the cover is lifted, the peg moves from bottom to top along one of the grooves i3 or i4 of the groove until it reaches the top thereof. At this time, it is deflected, by the curved top 15 of the groove, in part 16 of the latter.

This part 16 is located below the upper edges of the side channels of the groove and the cover will be retained in the position shown in dotted lines in fig. 4.

When you want to close the box, you lift the cover 3 slightly, then let it go down. The slight lifting of the cover brings the ankle into engagement with the angle 17 of the groove Il and said ankle will automatically be deflected into one or the other of the grooves 13 or 14, so that the cover can be lowered.

In the embodiment of FIG. 4, use is made of a single groove 18. In the embodiment of FIG. 5, a block 19 has an ash guide portion, 20, and a 2: 1 curved groove. in its upper part. The block 19 can be secured in position, by means of screws, for example, above the slot 5 and, when the cover is closed, the connecting rod hangs vertically through the slot and the pin 10 occupies a position located at the end of the slot. below the curved surface 22 of the block.

When the cover is raised, the connecting rod follows. The peg IO is brought into engagement with the face 22, the peg is directed into the groove 21 and the cover is retained. in the raised position as before.

T1 goes without saying that, instead of the core groove i1 being formed in a wall of the box, this groove can be formed in a block and the latter can be secured to the part, below the slot 5. .

The cover support devices can be arranged on one or the other or on both sides of the cabinet at will.

The block 19, when used, is preferably made of wood; but it can be executed in any other suitable material, as well as the connecting rod 9.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to a heart-shaped groove.

It is evident from the above that by building a box using a. cover support established according to the invention, a large and significant saving is achieved. in the cost price, because the groove or recess can be made in the box during the manufacture of the latter. This saves the expense of labor and additional parts such as wood, metal etc.

It goes without saying that the invention is not limited to the embodiments shown in the accompanying drawing and described above by way of example.
