<tb>- la fig. 1 <sep>è una vista frontale della testa di foratura secondo l'invenzione in cui è evidenziato il dispositivo premipezzo;
<tb>- la fig. 2 <sep>è una vista di fianco della testa di foratura di fig. 1;
<tb>- la fig. 3 <sep>è una vista da sopra della testa di foratura di fig. 1;
[0001] The present invention relates to a drilling head for printed circuit boards.
[0002] More particularly, the invention relates to a drilling head, which can be incorporated in a drilling machine for printed circuit boards.
[0003] As is known, the printed circuit boards are for example made of superimposed layers of reinforced resins interspersed with copper sheets, where each inner layer is made with photochemical processes.
[0004] The plates are drilled in a series of positions to allow connection between the electrical circuits and the various layers and the assembly of the electronic components.
[0005] The processing of printed circuit boards requires more and more machines capable of operating with high flexibility and productivity. For this purpose, drilling units have been proposed in the past equipped with a series of operating heads, typically six operating heads, able to simultaneously drill a corresponding series of packs consisting of superposed plates.
[0006] According to the prior art, the drilling heads are associated with a support frame, with respect to which a support and reference equipment is provided for the pack of plates.
[0007] The plate pack is generally obtained by superimposing a series of identical plates on a support panel made of wood or cardboard and covering the pack with a thin aluminum foil or similar material. The package is then held together and referred to the table equipment by reference pins and adhesive tape.
[0008] The present machines for drilling for printed circuit boards generally comprise a table translating along a first direction (axis Y), an upper crosspiece which carries a traveling carriage along a second direction (axis X) perpendicular to the first on which they are housed several drilling heads equipped with independent movement along a high direction (axis Z) orthogonal to the first two.
[0009] In general, a drilling head of the known type comprises a linear or rotary motor which imparts movement to the head along the axis "Z", a resilient joint, a linear guide or pneumostatic bush, able to guide the head of drilling along the "Z" axis, a drilling spindle carrying a boring tool, generally associated with an asynchronous technology motor, and a workpiece, generally consisting of a pneumatic system which exerts the pressure on the package of circuits, the closest possible at. where the drilling takes place.
[0010] As is known, these different parts of the drilling head, once assembled, represent heavy and bulky elements, which make the traditional machine massive.
[0011] Furthermore, the numerous mechanical couplings between the various parts which constitute the drilling head of the current machines, in addition to entailing assembly and maintenance difficulties, considerably limit their performance. As is known, in fact, in the drilling of the printed circuit boards, the performance in terms of acceleration along the "Z" axis provides the most important contribution to the overall productivity of the machine.
[0012] The object of the invention is to provide a drilling head for printed circuit boards, which overcomes the drawbacks of the known art and is therefore more efficient and productive than the units currently in use.
[0013] A further object of the invention is to provide one. drilling head of the aforesaid type, which is easy and inexpensive to manufacture and can therefore be produced industrially at advantageous costs.
[0014] These and other objects are obtained with the drilling head for printed circuit boards, as claimed in the appended claims.
[0015] Advantageously, according to the invention, the linear motor driving the movement of the spindle along the axis "Z" substantially integrated in the spindle itself and being the resultant of the three axial components of the magnetic fields produced by the coils of said motor substantially coinciding with the "Z" axis of the spindle, the accuracy and performance of the drilling head are significantly improved compared to the existing apparatuses.
[0016] Advantageously, thanks to the integration and the compactness of the parts that constitute the drilling head according to the invention, the latter is simple to make, to the full advantage of production costs.
[0017] A further advantage of the invention derives from the considerable ease of disassembly and replacement of the mandrel, which, being the most stressed part, must be precisely easily accessible and quickly disassembled.
[0018] An embodiment of the drilling head according to the invention will be described below purely by way of example, with reference to the attached figures in which:
<tb> - fig. 1 is a front view of the drilling head according to the invention in which the piece holding device is highlighted;
<tb> - fig. 2 <sep> is a side view of the drilling head of fig. 1;
<tb> - fig. 3 <sep> is a view from above of the drilling head of fig. 1;
<tb> - fig. 4 <sep> is a perspective view of the drilling head of fig. 1.
[0019] With reference to the annexed figures, the drilling head according to the invention, which has been indicated as a whole with reference 11, comprises a support 13 to which a drilling mandrel 15 is associated, sliding along direction "Z" with respect to the support 13, and carrying a drilling tool 16.
[0020] The support 13 is preferably provided with holes 17 to allow the drilling head 11 to be associated with a support structure forming part of a drilling unit for printed circuit boards.
[0021] Preferably, the spindle 15 is guided by a high-frequency synchronous motor, this type of motor being notoriously appreciated for its high torque at low speeds and for its high efficiency and consequent reduced heat generation, whose increase it is the main cause of poor drilling accuracy.
[0022] According to the invention, the mandrel 15 is associated with the support 13 with the interposition of a linear motor 19 comprising three coils 19a, 19b, 19c, arranged at 120 [deg.] Around the axis "Z" which passes for the drilling tool 16 and fixed to the mandrel structure 15, immersed in the magnetic field generated by a corresponding permanent magnet track.
[0023] Advantageously, according to the invention, the three axial components of the magnetic fields produced by the coils 19a, 19b, 19c generate a resultant substantially coinciding with the "Z" axis of the spindle 15, consequently appreciably improving the accuracy and the performance of the drilling head.
[0024] Still according to the invention, the drilling head 11 further incorporates a pneumostatic bush 21 for guiding the spindle 15 along the axis "Z", an optical scale 23 for generating a signal indicative of the position of the spindle 15 along the Z axis and a piece holding device 25.
[0025] Said piece-holding device 25 substantially comprises a cylindrical part 25a provided with a partially closed base 25b in which a central passage 25c is defined for the drilling tool 16. According to the invention, at the central passage 25c is defined a portion 25d flared towards the outside of the ring 25a, which surrounds said central passage 25c and which allows to exert the necessary pressure on the plate to be drilled, around the area where the hole takes place.
[0026] The invention further provides for the interposition between the spindle 15 and the pneumostatic bush 21 of a particular flange 27, which allows to move the workpiece 25 upward during automatic tool change operations and during measurement with technology tool laser. This solution allows to install a longer bush, compared to the solutions adopted in the past, obtaining a better driving precision than the spindle inside the pneumostatic bush 21 itself.
