Domaine technique

Description détaillée de l'invention
Technical area
The present invention relates to a device for protecting the crown, and more generally any external control member, a wristwatch when said crown is not used, and conversely to allow it to be easily released when we want to make use of it.
Technological background
Devices are already known that protect and hide a crown when not in use, which corresponds to the longest period of use of a wristwatch.
These devices are provided for essentially technical reasons, for example to avoid triggering by triggering the unexpected engagement of a function, or worse the deterioration of the winding stem.
The best known means is to provide on the middle part, on either side of the ring, lugs extending to the crown head leaving only a portion of the notched lathe visible.
A device of this type appears clearly in the figures of the patent CH 515 541, even if the protection of the crown is not the characteristic of the invention concerned.
In addition to the unsightly appearance, this solution has the disadvantage of making handling of the crown difficult, especially in traction.
Patent CH 567 300 describes a locking device of the pushers and the crown of a chronograph wristwatch by means of a fixed cover of a rotating bezel having an extension extending beyond the middle part and having a vertical and cylindrical wall substantially corresponding to the height of the middle part.
This solution is satisfactory for the desired purpose, but has the disadvantage of making the rotating bezel totally unusable for other usual functions of a rotating bezel.
Summary of the invention
The present invention therefore aims to overcome the disadvantages of the aforementioned prior art by providing a crown guard device and / or buttons for a wristwatch that completely releases the control members when you want to use them, and vice versa. protects them effectively during periods of non-use, without impairing accessibility to other control devices, such as a rotating bezel.
For this purpose the invention relates to a crown guard device for a wristwatch comprising a movement whose functions are controlled by at least one ring at the end of a winding stem.
When it is not used, the crown can be masked by a cover provided in a "two-piece" type of cladding constituted in particular by a middle part, closed on the dial side by an ice surrounded by a bezel, by a bottom and by horns coming from matter with some of the dressing. The device is characterized in that the movement and the covering, or an element integrated therein, are manipulable in relative rotation between a position where the crown is hidden by a cover and a position where it is discovered.
According to a first embodiment, the cover is secured to a grease-operated mounting ring in an annular groove formed in the base of the middle part being held in place by a base provided with legs screwed into the horns .
This construction has the advantage of requiring very few modifications to the dressing of any round wristwatch.
According to another embodiment, the movement is housed in a monocoque housing, and the bottom and the horns together form a support in which can rotate the housing to bring the crown in a cache formed in a horn.
This construction also has the advantage of practically not modifying the external appearance of the wristwatch and rendering the presence of any control member virtually unsuspected.

Detailed description of the invention
A first embodiment is described with reference essentially to FIGS. 1 to 8.
In FIG. 1, there is shown in plan view a wristwatch 1 comprising a movement 3 and a winding stem 6 (both visible on the section of FIG 5), the winding stem 6 having at its end a crown 5 positioned at 4 o'clock. The movement 3, which drives in a known manner needles of hours 2a, 2b minutes and seconds 2c above a dial 11, is housed in a covering consisting of a middle 9 closed dial side 11 by an ice 12 maintained by the upper part of the middle part 9, forming the telescope 13.
The caseband 9 is also provided with four horns 17, 17a, whose first function is to allow the attachment of bracelet strands 20.
In the example shown, the middle 9 and the bezel 13 form a single piece, but it is obvious that this part of the dressing could be formed by two different pieces, the bezel 13 can be, if it is wish, a rotating bezel.
The middle part 9 is closed at its lower part by a separate bottom 15, the sealing being provided for example by interposition of a seal of the "sanfil" type. The bottom 15 is for example screwed into a threading at the base of the middle part or snapped into it. As can be seen, on the sections of figs. 5 to 8 the middle 9 has at its base an annular groove 29 in which is positioned, a ring 21 having an extension forming the cover 7.
The ring 21 is mounted frictionally in the annular groove 29 having at its base a housing provided for a seal 31 for example formed by a PTFE ring.
The ring 21 and the seal 31 are held in place by a washer 26 bearing on the edges of the annular groove 29 and having four fixing lugs 16 extending under the horns 17, 17a to allow the attachment of said washer 26 by means of screws 19.
In a variant shown in FIG. 9, it can be seen that the bottom 15 and the washer 26 form a single piece ensuring both the closure of the housing and the retention in place of the ring 21 and the seal 31 by means of the screws 19 passing through the tabs 16.
In the example shown in FIG.
1, the cover 7 has an open L-shape whose large arm 8a completely covers the head of the crown 5 while leaving its edges apparent, and by releasing it entirely in the open position shown in dotted lines. In the closed position, the end of the large arm 8a follows the outline of a horn 17a.
According to a variant shown in FIG. 2, the cover 7 may further comprise an upper closure element 8b which completely masks the crown 5 in the closed position.
It can also be provided a lower closure element (not shown) so that the cover 7 has the shape of a completely enveloping shell.
The section of FIG. 5, carried out along the axis of the winding stem 6, shows that the ring 21 has a thinned portion 22 on a circular arc sufficient to allow the clearance of the cover 7 between the closed position and the open position.
The section of FIG. 6 shows that the device may further comprise a ratchet system 28 cooperating with bosses 30 formed in the upper part of the ring 21, on a circular arc corresponding at least to the clearance of the cover 7 between the closed position and the position opened.
In the example shown the pawl is positioned at 7 o'clock, but it is obvious that other locations are possible, and that we can have more than one ratchet 28.
In the section of FIG. 8 carried out at 9 o'clock, it can be seen that the annular groove 29 can be partially open towards the outside, the operating ring 21 then being provided with notches 23 making it possible in particular to facilitate the maneuvering of the cover 7.
Referring now to FIGS. 10 and 11 there is described below a second embodiment in which the cover 7 is fixed and the ring 5 rotatable in the plane of the watch, thanks to a two-piece clothing design.
A first part comprises a housing 4 closed by an ice 12 to accommodate the movement 3, the sidewall 14 of said housing being traversed by the winding stem 6 at the end of which is fixed the crown 5. The second part consists of a support 10 made in one piece formed by the bottom 15 connecting the four horns 17, 17a for attaching the bracelet strands 20.
Said support 10 is provided to receive the housing 4, the assembly being carried out with friction to allow the rotation of said housing, thanks to notches 24 on the sidewall 14 of the housing 4, or on the bezel 13, as shown in FIG. fig. 10.
One of the horns 17a has an extension 18a L to 4h position, the large arm occupying the farthest position from the center of the watch.
By rotating the housing 4 in the clockwise direction brings the head of the crown 5 under the large arm 18a of the cover 7, the edge of the crown remaining visible. According to a variant shown in FIG. 11, the cover 7 is formed by a recess 18b in the horn 17a, which makes it possible to hide the crown 5 almost completely.
The description above relates to embodiments in which the ring 5 or the cover 7 are positioned substantially at 4 o'clock, but it is obvious that other choices are possible depending on the design of the dressing.
Similarly, it was considered that the cover 7 was used to mask and protect a crown 5, but this control member could just as well be one or more other control members, such as pushers.
In the foregoing description, and in particular in the second embodiment, one can question the convenience of reading the time on a dial whose mark at 3 o'clock is not looking at the crown 5 in the non-use position where it is covered by the cover 7.
In the first embodiment it can be said that all wristwatches do not have a crown positioned at 3 o'clock. For example, in patent CH 661 404, the crown is positioned at 9 h.
In the second embodiment, it is true that the rotation of the housing 4 shifts the hourly marks one step in the clockwise direction.
This defect can easily be corrected by shifting the marking of the hourly indexes by one step in the counterclockwise direction and by modifying the time reference accordingly.
In other words, by the printing of the mark and numbers and / or index on the dial, it is always possible to choose the time reference by removing the crown to its traditional reference at 3 o'clock.
Other modifications of the crown guard which has just been described may be provided by those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the present invention.
