The present invention relates to clasps, of the type intended to connect, removably, the two ends of a bracelet, for example a wristwatch. It is more particularly a folding clasp, comprising two rigid arms, connected to one another in an articulated manner at one of their ends and a notch locking system.
The arms can occupy an open position, allowing the wearer of the bracelet to remove or slide the bracelet on the wrist, and a closed position in which the two arms are secured to one another removably by means of the system. locking.
For example, one of these clasps resumes a so-called tuning fork structure described in patent CH 665.536 according to which one of the arms is provided with a rigid piece, the other having a tuning fork structure whose elastic branches engage on both sides of the rigid piece to form a notch and keep the two arms assembled on one another.
This solution is well known to those skilled in the art and the simplicity of its implementation is attractive.
However, it is sufficient, to open the clasp, to exert a force to move away from each other the ends of each arm attached to the bracelet. This force can also occur independently of the will of the wearer, who may then lose it, especially as over time, the material can age and lose its elastic qualities.
The present invention provides a bracelet clasp to prevent inadvertent opening. It comprises, in known manner, two rigid arms, defining a longitudinal axis AA, connected to one another in an articulated manner at one of their ends along an axis BB perpendicular to AA and a notch locking system for keep both arms closed.
The locking system includes:
a male part and a female part disposed respectively on the first and second of said arms, movable with respect to each other and capable of occupying a first position, in which the male part is engaged in the female part to maintain the arms closed, and a second position, in which they are free one with reference to the other to allow the opening of the arms, and
an elastic member cooperating with one and / or the other of the male and female parts to enable them to move from their first to their second position by means of a notch.
According to the invention, the locking system comprises, in addition,
a locking member capable of occupying first and second positions respectively allowing or blocking the opening of the clasp arms when the male and female parts are in their first position.
Advantageously, the locking member of the clasp consists of:
an oblong latch of length L, width I, thickness e and longitudinal axis CC, rotatably mounted on a base of height h disposed on the first arm, at the interface with the other , and
a longitudinal axis opening DD of length L ¾ greater than the length L of the latch and of width l ¾, slightly smaller than the width I and less than the length L of the latch, passing through the second arm and arranged opposite the lock when both arms of the clasp are applied against each other.
[0007] In this way,
the lock forms with the opening a member whose parts are connected to each other by a notch engagement, which is formed by the engagement of the sides of the latch and the opening respectively parallel to the axes CC and DD .
Thus, when the locking member is in its first position, the CC axis of the latch is parallel to the axis DD of the opening so as to allow the latch to engage.
When the member is in its second position, the CC axis of the lock is offset relative to the axis DD of the opening, so as to allow the latch, when the two arms are locked, to prevent their opening.
To allow the rotation of the latch when the two arms are locked, the thickness of the second arm is limited, at the opening, by a recess disposed on its upper face, of substantially equal depth to the thickness e lock, the thickness of the arm, at this point, being slightly lower than the height h of the base.
According to one of the particularly advantageous embodiments of the invention, the lock is the male part of the locking system notch.
It is mounted integral with a lever that protrudes beyond the edge of the arm to allow the wearer to rotate the lock.
The base on which the lock is mounted, is disposed on a base defined by upstream edges, side and downstream, and the lever is shaped so that:
in a first position, it abuts against a first edge of the seat, the axis CC of the latch being parallel to the axis AA of the clasp, and
in a second position, it abuts against another edge of the seat, the CC axis of the latch being approximately 45 deg. relative to the axis AA of the clasp.
It may be useful to mark the first and second positions of the lever by means of a notch formed by a protuberance, disposed on the seat in contact with the lever so that the side of the lever, opposite to that which is against the seat, leans on it.
The invention will be better understood on reading the description which follows, given with reference to the appended drawing in which:
<tb> fig. 1 <sep> is an exploded perspective view of the two arms,
<tb> fig. 2 <sep> is a perspective view of the male part of the locking system, and
<tb> fig. 3 <sep> shows, in close-up and in plan view, the locking system, respectively unlocked position a and blocked in b.
In FIG. 1, there is shown a clasp for a bracelet according to the invention. Longitudinal axis AA, it comprises two rigid arms, one 10, upper and the other 12, lower, connected to each other by hinge means 14 of axis BB perpendicular to AA, located at one of their ends.
Each of their other end is provided with fastening means 16 to a bracelet.
The clasp is provided with a notch locking system comprising a male portion 18, a female portion 20, respectively disposed on the lower arm 12 and upper 10, in the vicinity of the fastening means 16 and an elastic member 21, adjoining the female part.
The male portion 18 comprises, on the upper face of the lower arm 12, a seat 22 defined by upstream edges 24, located on the side of the fastening means 16, side 26 and downstream 28, located on the side of the joint 14, and a rectangular latch 30 of length L, width l, thickness e and longitudinal axis CC parallel to AA, disposed on the seat 22.
As shown particularly in FIG. 2, the latch 30 is mounted on a base 32, smaller than the latch and of height h.
The elastic member 21 consists of two branches 21a and 21b defined by a central slot 34 disposed along the axis AA and through the upper arm 10 in its thickness.
The female part 20 consists of a rectangular opening 36 of axis DD parallel to AA, of length L ¾ greater than the length L of the lock and of width l ¾ slightly less than the width l and less than the length L of the lock. The opening 36 is arranged to be superimposed on the latch 30 when the two arms are applied against each other.
In addition, since the width l is slightly less than I, the engagement of the latch 30 in the opening 36 forms a notch.
At the opening 36, the thickness of the arm 10 is limited by a recess 38 disposed on its upper face. The depth of the recess is substantially equal to the thickness e of the latch 30, while the thickness of the arm at this point is slightly less than the height h of the base 32.
Thus, when we want to lock the clasp, simply apply the one against the other upper arm 10 and lower 12. The edges 40 of the latch 30 parallel to AA come into contact with those, 42 , opening 36. It is then necessary to exert pressure on the arms to bring them closer to one another.
The edges 40 press on the edges 42, so that the lock 30 moves the elastic branches 21a and 21b apart from each other. The passage of the latch 30 through the opening 36 thus marks a notch.
In the locked position, the latch 30 is housed in the recess 38 and its edges 40 rest on the edges 42 of the opening 36, but this time on the side of the upper face of the upper arm 10. The resistance at the spacing of the branches 21a and 21b is sufficient to keep the clasp in the locked position in most situations.
To open the clasp, it is necessary to exert a force to move away from each other the ends of each arm 10 and 12 attached to the bracelet.
It is easily understood that this force must be sufficient to overcome the resistance to the spacing of the branches 21a and 21b and to allow the lock 30 to pass through the opening 36.
There are already on the market a number of bracelets operating on this principle of tuning fork clasp. However, it can happen, quite easily, that the clasp opens unexpectedly, simply because the bracelet was hooked, for example to a garment.
To avoid these problems, the latch 30 is pivotally mounted on the seat 22, along an EE axis visible in FIG. 2, perpendicular to the plane defined by the seat 22 and passing through its center. An angled lever 44 is integral with the latch 30 and is interposed between the seat 22 and the base 32.
It extends beyond the edge of the arm 12 and ends with a knob 45 to allow the wearer to rotate the latch 30.
The stroke of the lever 44 and therefore the rotation of the latch 30 are limited by the abutment of one side of the lever 44 against the edges of the seat 22. More specifically, the lever 44 is shaped so as to what:
in a first position, it is in abutment against the downstream edge 28 of the seat 22 and the axis CC of the latch 30 is parallel to the axis DD of the opening 36 (FIG 3a), and
in a second position, it is in abutment against the upstream edge 24 of the seat 22 and the axis CC of the latch 30 is approximately 45 deg. relative to the axis DD of the opening 36 (FIG.
3b).
The first and second positions of the lever 44 are marked by a protrusion 46, disposed on the seat 22 in contact with the lever 44 so that the side of the lever opposite to that which abuts against the seat, rely on it to form a notch.
The lever 44 is sufficiently elastic to simply move from the first to the second position by sliding on the protuberance.
On the upper arm 10, the recess 38 is circular and of sufficient size so that, when the clasp is in the locked position (Figure 3b), the latch 30 is inscribed when it pivots.
Thus, when we want to lock the clasp, we must first ensure that the lever 44 is in its first position, so that the axis CC of the latch 30 is aligned with the axis DD of the opening 36.
The lock can then engage and take place in the recess 38, as described above.
The locked position is then blocked by the operation of the lever 44 which spans the protuberance 46 and reaches its second position, causing the pivoting of the latch 30 in the recess 38. Its axis CC is no longer aligned with the axis DD of the opening and two of its opposite angles take place above the recess 38, thus preventing any relative movement of the two arms 21a and 21b of the clasp.
Thus is proposed a notch clasp which, once locked, can be locked in this position. Any inadvertent opening of the clasp is therefore excluded. Furthermore, the description above has been given by way of example and the invention is not limited to this particular embodiment.
It can be easily adapted to any clasp system, for example ball.
In order to provide greater flexibility in operation, the lever 44 could also be made in two pieces, one rigid adjacent the latch 30, the other flexible, fixed to the first piece by the knob 45 and connecting the base 32 below the arm 12. In this way, the lever 44 is frictionally mounted on the arm 12, thus avoiding any risk of frolicking.
