Secondo la presente invenzione viene fornito un metodo per la formazione di gruppi di prodotti in una macchina impacchettatrice, il metodo comprendendo le fasi di avanzare i detti prodotti in successione, con passo e velocità sostanzialmente costanti, lungo un percorso ed attraverso una stazione di formazione, in cui è disposta una matrice di formazione; formare un detto gruppo completo all'interno della detta matrice di formazione alimentando un numero determinato di detti prodotti alla matrice di formazione stessa; ed estrarre il detto gruppo completo dalla detta matrice di formazione; il metodo essendo caratterizzato dal fatto che nella detta stazione di formazione è disposta una ulteriore matrice di formazione;
Secondo la presente invenzione viene realizzata una unità la formazione di gruppi di prodotti in una macchina impacchettatrice, l'unità comprendendo un convogliatore per avanzare i detti prodotti in successione, con passo e velocità sostanzialmente costanti, lungo un percorso ed attraverso una stazione di formazione; una prima matrice di formazione disposta nella detta stazione di formazione; un primo dispositivo di alimentazione atto a formare un detto gruppo completo all'interno della detta prima matrice di formazione alimentando un numero determinato di detti prodotti alla matrice di formazione stessa; ed un dispositivo di estrazione per estrarre il detto gruppo completo dalla detta prima matrice di formazione; l'unità essendo caratterizzata dal fatto di comprendere una ulteriore matrice di formazione disposta nella detta stazione di formazione;

Secondo quanto illustrato nelle fig.
The present invention relates to a method for forming groups of products in a packaging machine.
In known packaging machines, the formation of a group of products provides for feeding the products in succession to a formation matrix, normally composed of a set of side-by-side drawers, each of which is suitable for receiving a specific number of products.
Once the filling of the aforementioned matrix is completed, i.e. once the formation of a group inside the matrix itself is completed, the matrix is moved from a loading position to a specific unloading position, in which the matrix is engaged by a device. extractor of the complete group contained in it. At the end of the extraction operation, the die is brought back to the load position to receive a new group.
In the known packaging machines described above a product packaging unit feeds the products themselves to the matrix according to a succession of single products having a substantially constant pitch and speed; consequently, the operations described above for moving the die between the loading and unloading positions and for extracting a complete group from the die itself must be carried out in a very short time interval corresponding to the time interval between arrival, in the loading position, of the last product of the group just formed and the arrival, always in the loading position, of the first product of the next group.
The extremely reduced times available for carrying out the operations described above entail a considerable mechanical complexity of the aforementioned extraction device, a high level of mechanical stresses applied to the products, and relatively high inertial type stresses deriving from the alternative motions of the die. The object of the present invention is to provide a method for the formation of groups of products in a packaging machine, which is free from the drawbacks described above and is, at the same time, of simple and economic implementation.
According to the present invention, a method is provided for the formation of groups of products in a packaging machine, the method comprising the steps of advancing said products in succession, with substantially constant pitch and speed, along a path and through a forming station, in which a training matrix is arranged; forming a said complete group inside the said formation matrix by feeding a determined number of said products to the formation matrix itself; and extracting said complete assembly from said formation matrix; the method being characterized in that a further formation matrix is arranged in said formation station;
the said products being fed alternately to the said two formation matrices so as to carry out the said step of extracting a group from the inside of one of the said two formation matrices during the execution of the said step of forming a complete group in the other matrix, of formation. The present invention also relates to a unit for forming groups of products in a packing machine.
According to the present invention, a unit is formed for the formation of groups of products in a packaging machine, the unit comprising a conveyor for advancing said products in succession, with substantially constant pitch and speed, along a path and through a forming station; a first formation matrix arranged in said formation station; a first feeding device adapted to form a said complete group inside the said first formation matrix feeding a determined number of said products to the formation matrix itself; and an extraction device for extracting said complete assembly from said first formation matrix; the unit being characterized in that it comprises a further formation matrix arranged in said formation station;
a further feeding device adapted to form a said complete group inside the said further formation matrix feeding the said products to the further formation matrix itself; and a control unit adapted to alternately activate said feeding devices to feed said products alternately to said two forming matrices.
The present invention will now be described with reference to the attached drawings, which illustrate some non-limiting examples of embodiment thereof, in which: fig. 1 is a side view, schematic and partially in section, of a preferred embodiment of the unit object of the present invention; fig. 2 is a plan view, with parts removed for clarity, of the unit of fig. 1 in a different instant of operation; fig. 3 is a front view of the unit of fig. 1; <> fig. 4 is a side view, schematic and partially in section, of a further embodiment of the unit object of the present invention; fig. 5 is a plan view, with parts removed for clarity, of the unit of fig. 4 in a different instant of operation;
fig. 6 is a side view of the unit of fig. 4 in a different instant of operation; and fig. 7 and 8 are side views of a detail of the unit of fig. 4 in two different operating moments.
In fig. 1 with 1 indicates as a whole a packing machine provided with a unit 2 for the formation of groups 3 (a complete group 3 is illustrated in fig. 6) composed of a determined number N of products 4 arranged in several stacks 5 together side by side; in particular, in the embodiments illustrated in the attached figures, each group 3 is composed of nine products 4 arranged in three stacks 5 side by side.
The unit 2 comprises a continuous conveyor 6, which advances the products 4 with a substantially constant cadence (i.e. with a constant pitch and speed) and in succession along a substantially horizontal path P and through a forming station S, which comprises two feeding devices 7, respectively indicated by 7a and 7b, arranged so that the device 7a is upstream of the device 7b with respect to a direction 24 for the advancement of the products 4 parallel to the path P and in fixed positions along the path P itself.
Each feeding device 7 comprises a screw lifter 8, which extends vertically and transversely with respect to the path P and can be selectively activated by a control unit 9 to pick up the products 4 fed by the conveyor 6 through its inlet 10 and order the products 4 themselves in a stack 5 at an outlet 11 thereof.
Each screw lifter 8 is associated with a formation matrix 12, which is adapted to receive a respective group 3 and is provided with a plurality of side-by-side drawers 13, each of which is open at the bottom to receive a respective stack 5 of products 4 from the lift 8 itself.
In the attached figures the formation matrices 12 are indicated with 12a and 12b and are associated, respectively, with the feeding devices 7a and 7b.
In the example of embodiment illustrated in figs. 1, 2 and 3 the two matrices 12 are arranged substantially side by side and are rigidly connected to each other to be moved together, in step and in a direction 14 parallel to the path P, by an actuator 15 controlled by the control unit 9.
A plate 16 is arranged between the screw lifters 8 and in correspondence with the outlets 11 of the lifters 8, which is parallel to the direction 14 and is capable of supporting the stacks 5 of products, 4 contained inside the drawers 13 of the matrices 12 while moving the matrices 12 themselves in the direction 14.
In use, once the filling of all the drawers 13 of a matrix 12 with respective stacks 5 is completed, that is, once the formation of a group 3 inside the matrix 12 is completed, the matrix 12 itself is moved in the direction 14 and along the plate 16 to be brought to a determined discharge position A, wherein a comb pusher 17 controlled (in a known and not illustrated way) by the control unit 9 is advanced through the die 12 in a direction 18 transversal to the direction 14 and perpendicular to the plane of fig. 1 for feeding the relative group 3 to a known and not illustrated wrapping unit. In the embodiment illustrated in figs. 1, 2 and 3 the unloading position A is common for both matrices 12 and is arranged in an intermediate position between the screw lifters 8.
In the embodiment illustrated in figs. 1, 2 and 3 the actuator 15 initially moves the matrices 12 stepwise in the direction 14 with a direction V1 to successively bring each drawer 13 of the matrix 12a into a position facing the output 11 of the respective lifter 8 so as to receive a respective stack 5 formed and fed vertically by the lifter 8 itself; once a group 3 in the die 12a is completed, the actuator 15 further moves the dies 12 in the direction 14 with the direction V1 to bring the die 12a to the unloading position A and to bring a first drawer 13 of the die 12b into a receiving position of a respective stack 5 from the respective screw lifter 8.
At this point, after the pusher 17 has extracted the complete group 3 from the die 12a, the actuator 15 moves the dies 12 stepwise in the direction 14 with a direction V2 opposite to V1 to bring each drawer 13 of the die 12b in succession into a position facing the outlet 11 of the respective lift 8 so as to receive a respective stack 5 formed and fed vertically by the lift 8 itself; once a group 3 in the matrix 12b is completed, the actuator 15 further moves the matrices 12 in the direction 14 with the direction V2 to bring the matrix 12b to the unloading position A and to bring a first drawer 13 of the matrix 12a into a receiving position of a respective stack 5 from the respective screw lifter 8.
The conveyor 6 comprises a pair of belts 19 parallel to each other (only one of which is illustrated in fig. 1), which wind around a drive end pulley 20 controlled by the control unit 9, and engage respective opposite ends of each product 4.
Each screw lifter 8 is of a known type, for example of the type described in European patent application No. 784 028, and comprises a pair of screws 21 (one of which is illustrated in fig. 1), which are arranged by opposite bands of the conveyor 6, are adapted to engage respective opposite ends of each product 4, and are motorized and controlled by the control unit 9 to rotate continuously and in opposite directions around respective axes 22 extending vertically and transversely with respect to the path P.
Each feeding device 7a and 7b further comprises a stop element 23, which is arranged parallel to the relative axes 22 to guide the products 4 in a vertical direction parallel to the axes 22 and has a lower portion arranged between the two belts 19 to interfere with the path P canceling the motion component along the path P itself impressed on each product 4 by the conveyor 6 so as to allow the product 4 itself to rise along the screws 21.
The stop element 23 of the feeding device 7a is composed of two independent portions 23a and 23b. The portion 23b defines an upper part of the stop element 23 and is mounted fixed, while the portion 23a defines a lower part of the stop element 23 and is mounted movable to move, under the action of an actuator 25 controlled by the control unit 9, between an operating position (illustrated in fig. 1), in which the portion 23a interferes with the advancement of the products 4 along the path P, and a rest position (illustrated in fig.
6), wherein the portion 23a does not interfere with the advancement of the products 4 along the path P and defines, with the lower end of the portion 23b, an opening 26, through which the products 4 continue their advancement along the path P towards the feeding device 7b.
According to what is illustrated in figs. 2 and 3, starting from the plate 16 and along the direction 18 extends a conveyor 27, on which the groups 3 are fed by the pusher 17, and which is able to advance the groups 3 themselves towards the aforementioned known wrapping unit and not illustrated. The conveyor 27 comprises a flexible belt 28, wrapped around two end wheels 29 (only one of which is illustrated) and an operating section of which is arranged at the same level as the plate 16.
In use, the control unit 9 alternately activates the feeding devices 7a and 7b to feed to each matrix 12 a determined number N of products 4 so as to alternately form in each matrix 12 a complete group 3.
In this way, while feeding a group 3 to a matrix 12, another complete group 3 is extracted from the other matrix 12 to be fed to the aforementioned wrapping unit.
The operation of the unit 2 is described below starting from an instant (see fig. 1) in which a complete group 3 has just been extracted from the matrix 12b, which is still in the unloading position A, and a new one group 3 is formed in the matrix 12a.
In particular, the control unit 9 brings the stop element 23 to the aforementioned operating position to allow the feeding device 7a to take the products 4 and feed them to the relative matrix 12a. Whenever a drawer 13 of the matrix 12a has received a stack 5 complete with products 4, the control unit 9 activates the actuator 15 to stepwise move the matrices 12 along the direction 14 with the direction V1. Once the feeding device 7a has taken a number N of products, forming a complete group 3, the control unit 9 brings the portion 23a of the stop element 23 to the aforementioned rest position to allow the products 4 to come advanced, through the opening 26, towards the feeding device 7b.
The control unit 9 then waits for the feeding device 7a to feed all the N products 4 taken to the relative matrix 12a, completing the formation of a group 3, and then brings the matrix 12a itself to the discharge position A, activates the relative pusher 17, and brings a first drawer 13 of the matrix 12b into a position for receiving a respective stack 5 from the respective screw lifter 8.
In the meantime a certain number of products 4 have passed through the opening 26 and towards the feeding device 7b; once a number N of products 4 has passed through the opening 26, the control unit 9 returns the portion 23a of the stop element 23 to the aforementioned operating position.
The control unit 9 then waits for the feeding device 7b to feed all the N products 4 transited through the opening 26 to the relative matrix 12b, completing the formation of a group 3, and then brings the matrix 12b itself to the position A of unloaded, activates the relative pusher 17, and brings a first drawer 13 of the matrix 12a into a position for receiving a respective stack 5 from the respective screw lifter 8.
The control unit 9 regulates the forward speed of the conveyor 6 and the forward speeds of the two screw lifters 8, to feed the products 4 at the outlet 11 of each screw lifter 8 only when the outlet 11 itself is engaged by a respective drawer 13 of the corresponding matrix 12.
The operations described above are repeated cyclically.
From what has been described above, it is clear that, in the forming unit 2, the extraction step of a complete group 3 from a relative matrix 12 can take place in a relatively long time interval, since once a group 3 is been formed in a matrix 12, the subsequent products 4 are fed to the other matrix 12. This relatively long time interval allows to move the matrix 12 to and from the relative unloading position A with relatively low speeds, therefore with simple and inexpensive handling devices, with a reduced level of mechanical stress applied to the products, and with reduced inertial type stress deriving from the alternative motions of the forming dies 12.
In the embodiment illustrated in figs. from 4 to 8, the forming dies 12 are not mechanically connected to each other and are moved independently in the direction 14 by respective actuators 15 controlled by the control unit 9. Furthermore, at the outlet 11 of each screw lifter 8 there is a respective plate 16 parallel to the direction 14.
Once the filling of all the drawers 13 of a matrix 12 with respective stacks 5 is completed, i.e. once the formation of a group 3 inside the matrix 12 is completed, the matrix 12 itself is moved in the direction 14 and along the respective plate 16 to be brought to a respective discharge position A (illustrated in fig. 6), in which a respective comb pusher 17 controlled by the control unit 9 is advanced through the die 12 in the direction 18 to feed the relative group 3 to the wrapping unit (known and not illustrated).
In use, the control unit 9 brings the portion 23a of the stop element 23 to the aforementioned operating position to allow the feeding device 7a to pick up the products 4 and feed them to the relative matrix 12a (fig. 4). Once the feeding device 7a has taken a number N of products, that is, it has formed a group 3, the control unit 9 brings the portion 23a to the aforementioned rest position to allow the products 4 to be advanced, through the opening 26, towards the feeding device 7b (fig. 6).
The control unit 9 then waits for the feeding device 7a to feed all the N products 4 taken to the relative matrix 12a, completing the formation of a group 3, and then brings the matrix 12a itself to the discharge position A, and activates the relative pusher 17. Once the extraction of the complete group 3 is completed, the matrix 12a is brought back to an initial receiving position to receive a new group 3 of products 4.
In the meantime, a certain number of products 4 have passed through the opening 26 towards the feeding device 7b; once a number N of products 4 has passed through the opening 26, the control unit 9 returns the portion 23a of the stop element 23 to the aforementioned operating position.
The control unit 9 then waits for the feeding device 7b to feed all the N products 4 passed through the opening 26 to the relative matrix 12b, completing the formation of a group 3, to bring the matrix 12b itself into the respective position A of discharge and activate the relative pusher 17. Once the extraction of the complete group 3 is completed, the matrix 12b is returned to an initial receiving position to receive a new group 3 of products 4.
The operations described above are repeated cyclically.
According to a further embodiment not shown, the two matrices 12 are not mechanically connected to each other and are moved independently in the direction 14 by respective actuators 15 controlled by the control unit 9. A single plate 16 is arranged between the matrices 12, along which a single unloading position A common to both matrices 12 is defined.
