The invention relates to a brush suction nozzle for vacuum cleaners with a housing, a brush roller which is rotatably mounted in a brush chamber of the housing which is open at the bottom, an electric motor which drives the brush roller via a belt, and an accumulator block for the energy supply of the electric motor, the electric motor and the accumulator block inside of the housing are arranged on both sides of a suction air duct opening into the brush chamber.
A pipe connection for a connecting line to a suction blower is connected to the suction air duct of the housing with the interposition of a tilt joint or a rotary / tilt joint. Battery block means a rechargeable battery or an arrangement of several rechargeable batteries which are combined to form a block-like structure.
In a brush suction nozzle known from US Pat. No. 3,184,775, the battery block is arranged inaccessible to the user in the housing. The rechargeable battery block is also assigned a charging device with transformer and rectifier, which is also built into the housing. The discharged battery pack is charged without removing it from the housing using a power cable that can be connected to the built-in charging device. A disadvantage of the known embodiment is that the brush suction nozzle is not available for use during the charging process, which regularly extends over a longer period of time.
A brush suction nozzle is known from DE-A 3 900 577, which has a holder in the region of the pipe connection with a battery compartment for receiving one or more rechargeable batteries. The pipe connection with battery holder is connected via a tilt joint to the suction air duct opening into the brush chamber. The battery holder on the pipe connection is a nuisance when vacuuming under flat furniture. When using a swivel / tilt joint between the pipe connection and the suction air duct, the batteries inserted into the battery holder generate a torque on the rotatably mounted pipe connection due to their weight, which disrupts the handling of the brush suction nozzle and impairs the exact guidance of the device.
The invention is based on the object of specifying a brush suction nozzle which enables simple replacement of the battery pack without tools and which has a favorable center of gravity with regard to the handling of the nozzle.
To achieve this object, the invention teaches that the housing has an externally accessible side compartment for the battery block, which extends parallel to the brush chamber and has electrical contact surfaces on its insert end for a contact with contact elements of the battery block, the battery block by a resilient latching connection held in the slot and can be pulled out of the slot for the purpose of charging in an external charger without loosening a clamping element. According to the teaching of the invention, the battery pack is interchangeable and a discharged battery pack is charged exclusively in an external charging device.
The invention is based on the consideration that the interchangeability of the battery block in connection with the use of a constantly charged replacement battery ensures that the brush suction nozzle is always ready for operation. The snap-in connection is made with resilient elements and is designed so that the battery block is fixed in its operating position during the suction movements of the brush suction nozzle and the snap-in connection can nevertheless be easily overcome by hand when the battery block is pushed in and out.
According to a preferred embodiment of the invention, the insertion compartment is open at the end, that is to say not closed by a cover cap or cover flap. The battery block inserted into the slot essentially closes flush with the slot, the housing base and / or the upper part of the housing for opening the slot having open recesses for gripping the battery block inserted into the slot. Sufficient encapsulation of the battery block is ensured by the approximately flush closure of the battery block inserted into the slot with the adjacent wall surfaces of the housing, and loosening of the battery block in the operating position and / or displacement of the battery block within the slot is excluded if the brush suction nozzle during the suction movement is moved against furniture and the like.
The contact elements of the battery block are preferably designed as spring tongues arranged on the jacket side.
The invention is explained below on the basis of a drawing which represents only one exemplary embodiment. The single figure shows a schematic, perspective illustration of a brush suction nozzle for vacuum cleaners with a housing 1, a brush roller 2, which is rotatably mounted in a brush chamber of the housing 1 that is open at the bottom, an electric motor 3, which drives the brush roller 2 via a belt 4, and a battery block 5 for the energy supply of the electric motor 3. The electric motor 3 and the battery block 5 are arranged inside the housing 1 on both sides of a suction air duct 6 opening into the brush chamber. A pipe connection for a connection to a suction air blower is connected to the suction air duct 6 via a rotary / tilt joint 7.
The housing has an externally accessible side compartment 8 for the battery block 5, which extends parallel to the brush chamber and has electrical contact surfaces on its insert end for a contact with contact elements 9 of the battery block 5. The battery block 5 is held in the slot 8 by a resilient latching connection and can be pulled out of the slot 8 for the purpose of charging in an external charging device without loosening a clamping element. The insertion compartment 8 is open at the end and is dimensioned such that the battery block 5 inserted into the insertion compartment 8 is essentially flush with the insertion compartment 8. The bottom of the housing and / or the upper part of the housing have open handle recesses 10 for opening the insertion compartment 8 for grasping the battery block 5 inserted into the insertion compartment.
The battery block 5 has spring tongues arranged on the jacket side as contact elements 9 at its front end in the insertion direction. The external charging device is expediently designed with a base into which the battery block can be inserted for the purpose of charging.
