Zum grundsätzlichen Aufbau des Bürstenvorsatzgerätes gehören ein Gehäuse, welches eine bodenseitige Öffnung sowie einen Luftkanal mit einem endseitigen Anschlussstück zur Verbindung mit der Saugseite eines Staubsaugers, einem Saugrohr oder einem Saugschlauch aufweist, einer in der bodenseitigen Öffnung angeordneten, drehbar gelagerten Bürstenwalze und einem Elektromotor für den Antrieb der Bürstenwalze. Erfindungsgemäß weist das Bürstenvorsatzgerät sowohl einen Elektroanschluss zur externen Stromversorgung des Elektromotors als auch eine im Gehäuse fest installierte oder austauschbare DC-Kleinspannungsquelle ebenfalls zur Stromversorgung des Elektromotors auf. Die Anordnung ist so getroffen, dass das Bürstenvorsatzgerät beim bestimmungsgemäßen Gebrauch wahlweise mit der externen Stromversorgung oder netzunabhängig mit der DC-Kleinspannungsquelle betrieben werden kann. Der Elektroanschluss ist vorzugsweise für eine externe Stromversorgung mit 230 V Wechselstrom ausgelegt und als Teil einer Steckverbindung ausgestaltet. Der Elektroanschluss, z. B. in Form einer Steckdose, kann an der Außenseite des Gehäuses angeordnet sein. Im Rahmen der Erfindung liegt es auch, dass der Elektroanschluss im endseitigen Anschlussstück des Gehäuses integriert ist und elektrische Kontakte aufweist, die beim Anschluss eines Saugrohres oder eines saugseitigen Anschlussstutzens mit Gegenelementen in Kontakt kommen, die an dem Saugrohr oder dem Anschlussstutzen fest angeordnet und Teil der externen Stromversorgung sind. Das Anschlussstück ist dabei stets so gestaltet, dass es ohne elektrische Kontaktierung auch mit einem konventionellen Saugrohr oder dem Endstück eines Saugschlauches verbunden werden kann.
