TECHNISCHES GEBIET

TECHNICAL AREA
The present invention relates to the field of heating or burner technology. It relates to a method for controlling a burner, in particular a gas or gas burner, in which method an ignition device and one or more valves for controlling the fuel supply are switched on and off in a predetermined sequence via associated switching contacts, the sequence of the switching operations being determined by an electric motor-driven program cylinder, which is rotatable about a cylinder axis and displaceable in the cylinder axis between a plurality of rotational planes, is controlled, which program cylinder has a plurality of cam tracks on its circumference, which act on the switching contacts, and the program cylinder during normal operation of the burner after starting in one stationary operating position remains,
in which the valves for the fuel supply are open and the ignition device is switched off.
The invention further relates to a device according to the preamble of claim 6.
Such a method and such a device are known from the applicant's earlier European patent application EP-A1-0 722 068.
STATE OF THE ART
In the aforementioned EP-A1-0 722 068, the entire contents of which are expressly referred to, an automatic burner control with an electro-mechanical time program control and flame monitoring is described, in which an axis rotatable and displaceable in the axis between several levels, program cylinder driven by an electric motor, via corresponding cam tracks formed on its circumference, acts on a series of switching contacts arranged on its circumference. By rotating the program cylinder, for example, when the burner starts up, the engine of a combustion air blower is switched on in a predetermined time sequence, the ignition device for igniting the burner flame is switched on and off, and valves for the fuel supply are opened.
The program cylinder moves simultaneously in the axial direction from a start level to an operating level. Above the operating level, a fault level is also provided, into which the program cylinder is pushed and held there if, for example, an extraneous light fault occurs. The movement of the program cylinder in the axial direction is brought about by electromagnetically driven displacement actuators, which engage in a controlled manner in corresponding cam tracks on the program cylinder and move it axially in connection with a rotary movement.
As described in detail in EP-A1-0 722 068 on page 4, line 29 to page 5, line 13, using the example of a control for a burner, when the burner starts up, the program cylinder first rotates and is activated by activating a the shift actuator is simultaneously shifted axially from the start level (I) to the operating level (II). As a result, the engine of the combustion air blower and the ignition device for igniting the burner flame are first switched on. A first fuel valve is then opened, so that fuel is injected and (normally) a flame is formed.
A flame sensor reports the presence of the flame to a control unit, which deactivates one shift actuator and at the same time activates the other shift actuator, which continues to hold the program cylinder in the operating level (II) by engaging a corresponding cam track. After a certain time, in which the ignited flame continues to burn, the ignition device is switched off and a further valve is opened, as a result of which the full fuel supply is achieved. In this state, the program cylinder remains in operating level (II) as long as the burner is working at full load.
If for some reason the flame in the burner is torn off (flame out), this is registered by the flame sensor and the control unit deactivates the other displacement actuator. Normally, this releases the program cylinder and, under the action of a built-in spring, moves back to the start level, from where the burner can be restarted. The shift into the starting level is accompanied by the closing of the valves for the fuel supply.
With this type of control, it cannot be completely ruled out that the program cylinder will not fall back to the start level in the event of a flame break, despite being released by the shift actuator. In this case, the valves remain open so that fuel can flow in, but does not burn due to the lack of flame, but collects behind the burner and thus leads to a malfunction and / or danger to the system.
PRESENTATION OF THE INVENTION
It is an object of the invention to improve the known method and the known device for controlling a burner in such a way that such leakage of fuel can be reliably avoided in the event of a flame.
The object is achieved in a method of the type mentioned at the outset that, if a flame occurs during normal operation, the program cylinder is first rotated by activating the drive until the valves for the fuel supply are closed, and then the program cylinder is brought into a rest position and the drive of the program cylinder is switched off. The active closing of the program cylinder by means of the electromotive drive ensures that the valves are closed in any case. The subsequent standstill of the program cylinder in the rest position ensures that the control and the burner remain inactive without targeted interference suppression from the outside.
A first preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention is characterized in that the program cylinder is driven by an electric motor which, parallel to the normal connection, is connected to a voltage supply via a safety circuit, the safety circuit switching means for closing the safety circuit and in series with the Switching means has a switch contact for opening the safety circuit, that the presence of the burner flame is monitored by flame monitoring means, that if the flame monitoring means detects a flame break during normal operation, the safety circuit is closed by switching on the switching means and thus the electric motor of the program cylinder is activated,
and that when the program cylinder reaches the rest position, the switch contact in the safety circuit is opened and the power supply to the electric motor of the program cylinder is interrupted. Switching off the control via the additional safety circuit proves to be particularly simple and effective.
The additional safety circuit requires only a few changes in the control if, according to a further preferred embodiment of the method according to the invention, a plurality of electromagnetically operating displacement actuators are provided for displacing the program cylinder in the cylinder axis, which actuators are equipped with corresponding magnetic coils if one during normal operation of the burner the displacement actuator is deactivated and its solenoid is de-energized if a reed contact is used as switching means in the safety circuit, and if the deactivated displacement actuator is activated when the flame is detected by the flame monitoring means and the reed contact is closed by the magnetic field of the associated solenoid coil.
By using the already existing magnetic coil of one of the displacement actuators together with a reed contact, the installation of a relay for the safety circuit, which takes up space and increases costs, can be dispensed with.
The device according to the invention is characterized in that the electric motor of the program cylinder is connected to a voltage supply via a safety circuit in parallel with the normal connection, that the safety circuit has switching means for closing the safety circuit and in series with the switching means a switching contact for opening the safety circuit , and that the switching means of the safety circuit can be switched by the control circuit as a function of the flame monitoring means.
A preferred embodiment of the device according to the invention is characterized in that a plurality of electromagnetically operating displacement actuators are provided for displacing the program cylinder in the cylinder axis, which are equipped with corresponding magnetic coils and are connected to the control circuit, that the switching means in the safety circuit comprise a reed contact, and that the reed contact is arranged in the immediate vicinity of one of the magnet coils of the displacement actuators, such that the magnetic stray field of the magnet coil can switch the reed contact.
Further embodiments result from the dependent claims.
BRIEF EXPLANATION OF THE FIGURES
The invention will be explained in more detail below on the basis of exemplary embodiments in connection with the drawing. Show it:
Figure 1 is a plan view of a preferred embodiment for a device according to the invention with a safety circuit with reed contact. and
FIG. 2 shows the electrical circuit diagram of the device according to FIG. 1.
WAYS OF CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION
1 shows a top view of a preferred exemplary embodiment of a device according to the invention. The controller 1 comprises on a circuit board 2 a in a cylinder receptacle 3 by means of a bearing pin 8 and a bearing shell 9 rotatably and displaceably mounted in the direction of the cylinder axis 35 program cylinder 34. The program cylinder 34 is formed on the bearing on the bearing pin 8 th ring gear 7 which engages with a pinion 6 of a transmission 5. The gear 5 is attached to an electric motor 4, which is preferably designed as a synchronous motor.
On the circumference of the program cylinder 34, various cam tracks 10, 11 are provided one behind the other in the axial direction, some of which interact with displacement actuators 12, 16, and some act on switching contacts S1, ..., S8, which are arranged on the circumference of the program cylinder (the cam tracks in the area of the switching contacts S1, ..., S8 are only shown schematically in FIG. 1; in reality they have very different and complicated designs). The special mode of operation of the switching contacts S1, ..., S8 in connection with the program cylinder 34 has already been described in detail in EP-A1-0 722 068 and will therefore not be repeated here.
As already mentioned (and described in EP-A1-0 722 068), the program cylinder 34 can not only be rotated about the cylinder axis 35 by means of the electric motor 4, but also in the cylinder axis 35 between three different levels, the starting level, the operating level and the Fault level, to be pushed back and forth. The displacement takes place in connection with a rotary movement of the program cylinder 34 by the (electromagnetically operating) displacement actuators 12 and 16, which engage the cam tracks 11 and 10 with corresponding folding anchors 13 and 17, respectively. The engagement of the hinged armatures 13, 17 in the cam tracks 10, 11 is achieved in that a current is sent through assigned magnet coils 14 and 18, respectively. In the currentless state of the solenoid coils 14, 18, the hinged armatures 13, 17 are out of engagement.
A (passive) fault actuator is also provided, as in EP-A1-0 722 068. It is arranged under the program cylinder 34 and is only shown in broken lines in FIG. 1.
The associated circuit, which in this example and in contrast to EP-A1-0 722 068 is designed for a gas burner, is shown in FIG. 2 in a block diagram. The switch contacts S3 to S8 housed on the circuit board 2 optionally connect the motor 32 of a combustion air blower, an ignition device 31 and valves 29, 30 to the neutral conductor N and the phase Ph of a power supply network. An internal optical fault display 28 in the form of a light-emitting diode and an external optical fault display 33 in the form of a lamp serve to display fault states in the control. The presence of a flame on the burner is monitored by a flame sensor 27 in the form of an ionization probe, which is connected to the input of a control circuit 26.
The control circuit 26 in turn controls the solenoids of the displacement actuators 12 and 16.
The electric motor (synchronous motor) 4 is connected to the power supply on the one hand via the switch contact S1 and on the other hand via a safety circuit 36 arranged in parallel therewith. To control the power supply, a main switch 20, a safety thermostat 21, a control thermostat 22, a gas pressure switch 23 and two suppressor switches 24 (external) and 25 (internal) are further provided behind a fuse 19. A reed contact 15 and the switch contact S2 are connected in series in the safety circuit. The reed contact 15 is, as can be clearly seen from FIG. 1, arranged in the immediate vicinity of the solenoid 14 of the displacement actuator 12 and is closed in this way by the stray field of the solenoid 14 when the latter is controlled by the control circuit 26 or supplied with current becomes.
Since the magnet coil 12 is oriented with the coil axis parallel to the plane of the circuit board, the reed contact 15 is expediently soldered directly onto the circuit board 2 in the foot region of the magnet coil 12.
The mode of operation of the controller 1 or the circuit from FIG. 2 is essentially the same as that of the circuit in EP-A1-0 722 068:
In the initial state of the control, the program cylinder 34 is pushed into its initial position entirely in the direction of the electric motor 4 (start level). The switch contacts S1 to S8 are shown in FIG. 2 in their rest position without being influenced by the program cylinder 34. In its initial position, the program cylinder 34 actuates the switch contact S1, i.e. the switch is open. The switch contact (changeover switch) S6 is also actuated, i.e. the switch contact S7 is connected to the gas pressure switch 23. In this initial state, the function of the reed contact 15 can be checked. For this purpose, the solenoid 14 of the displacement actuator 12 is controlled by the control circuit 26 (closing of the reed contact 15) and the continuity of the safety circuit 36 is checked by the control circuit 26 via the closed switching contact S2.
If the elements 20 to 23 are closed, the program cylinder 34 begins to rotate. The shift actuator 12 is activated and engages in the program cylinder 34. As a result, the program cylinder is displaced in the axial direction away from the electric motor 4 into the operating plane. The switch contact S1 has thereby closed and bridges the safety circuit 36. The program cylinder 34 continues to rotate and the switch contacts S7 and S8 are closed in quick succession, so that (if present) the motor 32 of the combustion air blower runs and the ignition device 31 is switched on. S3 is closed a little later and fuel is supplied for the ignition process. If a flame subsequently forms within a certain time, this is reported to the control circuit 26 via the flame sensor 27.
The second displacement actuator 16 is activated, while the first displacement actuator 12 is deactivated and now holds the program cylinder 34 in the operating level. When the first displacement actuator 12 is deactivated, the reed contact 15 also drops and the safety circuit 36 is open. After a predetermined time, the switch contact S8 is then opened (ignition off) and the switch contact S4 is closed (full fuel supply). After S4 has closed, switch contact S1 is opened and program cylinder 34 is at a standstill again. This completes the start-up phase and the burner now works at full capacity in normal operation.
In the event of a flame break during normal operation, the solenoid 14 of the displacement actuator 12 is controlled by the control circuit 26. The reed contact 15 closes by means of the magnetic field of the magnetic coil 14. If the program cylinder 34 (under the influence of a spring) is not moved back to the starting plane contrary to expectations, the electric motor 4 activated via the now closed safety circuit 36 rotates the program cylinder 34 further. The program cylinder 34 then opens the switching contacts S3 and S4 (valves 29, 30 close) and a short time later the switching contact S2 in the safety circuit 36 is opened and the power supply to the electric motor 4 is interrupted.
The program cylinder 34 then remains in a safe rest position and the control is no longer ready for use, because without a check from the outside, no new program start can take place.
