Fig. 4 eine zweite Ausführungsform mit einem Filmscharnier,
Fig. 5 eine dritte Ausführungsform mit einem Filmscharnier,
Fig. 1 zeigt eine Verschlusseinheit in geschlossenem Zustand.
The invention lies in the field of the packaging industry and relates to a closure unit according to the preamble of the first claim.
On containers for liquids such as metal cans or containers made of coated cardboard, for a reclosable opening and for convenient pouring, closure units, preferably made of plastic, are often used, consisting of a pouring part with a pouring opening and a closing part which closes the pouring opening of the pouring part and which is used in a opening of the container.
The patent application EP 0 557 487 by the same applicant describes such closure units. The closure units described are cast using a multi-material injection molding process and consist of at least two materials which differ in at least one property.
For convenient handling, it is required that the closure unit is always connected as a whole to the container during normal use in such a way that the lid part cannot be completely removed from the pouring part even in the open state. To meet this requirement, a flexible web (or a plurality of webs) is proposed which flexibly connects the closure part to the pouring part or which is molded onto the closure part and is held between the container and the pouring part. The disadvantage of this connection between the pouring part (or container) and the closure part is that the closure part does not have a precisely defined position in the open state, so that in addition to a closing movement, a positioning movement is also necessary for the closure.
In addition, depending on the movement, the web is deformed when opening or closing at different locations. So that the material does not tire and break quickly due to these deformations, it must either be very flexible or the bridge must be very thin. Since the web is preferably made of the same material from which the pouring part, in particular its outer regions, is made, a restriction of the material selection due to the requirements of the web is undesirable and a very thin web will not be stable enough with regard to tensile stress.
Known closure units, which are cast from one material, also have connecting webs between the pouring part and the closure part. The closure unit is manufactured in the open state and closed before or after assembly on the container. The web connection has the same disadvantages as the connecting webs according to EP 0 557 487.
There are now, in particular in food chemistry, certain legal requirements for certain countries, according to which the packaged goods (mainly during storage) may only come into contact with certain plastics. For example, if it is milk, it may only come into contact with polyethylene. This makes it necessary that only one of the various plastics used may come into contact with the packaged goods in the multi-material injection molding process.
This can only be achieved with certain measures, which are the subject of the invention here.
It is therefore the object of the invention to create a closure unit according to EP 0 557 487 with the aid of the multi-material injection molding process, in which, regardless of the configuration, only one of the materials can come into contact with the product and thus comply with the legal or other requirements or Requirements are met.
The permanent connection between the two parts of the closure unit should be designed in such a way that it can also be made from less flexible materials and thus the choice of material for the closure unit is not very restricted. One of these materials must meet the requirements of the constraints described above; it is provided that the material used for the pouring part is also used partially for the closure part in such a way that this material covers the entire contact region on the product side. The closure unit should nevertheless be able to be manufactured in one work step and be mountable on the container in one work step.
This object is achieved by the closure unit according to the characterizing part of the independent patent claim.
The closure unit according to the invention has a hinge consisting of a quasi-stationary bearing part and a hinge part movably mounted therein. The bearing part is integrally connected to the pouring part and the hinge part is integrally connected to the closure part. The closure unit is produced by the multi-material injection molding process, the bearing part being produced from a first and the hinge part from a second and the first material. Since the surfaces molded together in the multi-material injection molding process fit together very precisely and since the hinge is produced in the closed state, it is tight, so that no further sealing means are necessary in the area of the hinge. This allows a very compact form of the closure unit.
According to the invention, the movably mounted hinge part is partly made of the first material like the bearing part and a second material for realizing the movable hinge part.
Some exemplary embodiments of the closure unit according to the invention are described in detail with reference to the following figures. Show:
1 shows a detail of a closure unit with a bearing part and hinge part in the hinge area,
2 shows a view of a closure unit from above to show the area which is to be covered with the unit layer of the bearing part material,
3 shows a first embodiment, with a detail from the hinge area,
4 shows a second embodiment with a film hinge,
5 shows a third embodiment with a film hinge,
6 shows a detail in the hinge region of the embodiment according to FIG. 5.
Fig. 1 shows a closure unit in the closed state. The term M1 and M2 means two materials 1 and 2. It can be seen that the bearing part and the hinge part are made of different materials. What you cannot see is the material distribution in the lid surface of the hinge part. This is shown in FIG. 2. In this example, the closure unit 1 has a pentagon shape. The pouring edge (knife edge) is indicated by reference number 2, and the hinge is indicated by reference number 4. The area to be covered with the same material as the bearing part on the hinge part is designated by 3. The two FIGS. 1 and 2 make it easier to understand the details of the following figures.
Fig. 3 shows an embodiment in which the bearing part, consisting of the material M1, continues along the hinge part and covers the inner surface 3 of the cover. Depending on the design of the hinge and depending on the pivot point of the hinge part, a breaking or stretching point 8 must be provided for opening the hinge part, which is torn open or stretched when opening so that the hinge part can roll off. For example, polyethylene has an extensibility of approximately eight times the film thickness. According to the above-mentioned patent specification EP 0 557 487, the closure units are manufactured in the closed state and are thus also installed in the container. Since the closure unit is only opened when in use, this break remains intact during the entire storage.
After opening for the first time, a small gap to material 2 will become free, but this is above the material to be poured out. When the closure unit is closed, the breaking edges of the breaking point 8 are pressed together again and thus protect the packaged goods from the material M2.
The breaking aid is introduced by a break groove in the injection mold. The attachment of the two materials to one another, where there is no relative movement between them, that is, for example, zone F, can be accomplished either by an adhesive connection or by a positive connection. In zone B there is a relative movement for the hinge. The spraying process for realizing such a closure unit is described in the patent specification EP 0 557 487. To produce the desired uniform coating on the hinge part, only the injection mold has to be changed slightly.
Fig. 4 shows another embodiment with a film hinge. The production of such a film hinge is described in the patent EP 0 546 999. In this embodiment, the layer of material M1 tapered to the film hinge is thickened again and continued along the lid of the hinge part. A break point is not necessary here, since the thin hinge point is arranged along the axis of rotation. The two materials can be fixed in the lid area 3 either by gluing or by a positive connection 7, as shown here.
5 shows a further embodiment of a closure unit according to the invention. The layer of material M1 is reinforced in the area of the hinge. On the opposite side, and this naturally also applies to all other embodiments, the layer of material M1 is again connected to the material M1 of the bearing part via the hinge part. This area is the separation area 9, here the bearing part and the hinge part must be able to separate. Again, a break or expansion point 8 is provided at both locations, which is broken or stretched when it is opened for the first time and shields the material M2 of the hinge part against the packaged goods when the break points are closed again. 6 shows the predetermined breaking point 8, which is preformed by a small incision along the edge, somewhat enlarged.
When opening (tearing open) the breakage tears as far as is necessary for the film hinge, the thickness adjusts itself automatically. Likewise, the predetermined breaking point tears open along the edge of the knife (see FIG. 2) and hugs again when it is closed again.
