Vielfach praktiziert man auch - anstelle des Überwendlingssaums - durch Umschlagen des Stoffrandes, einen Saum für die einzuziehende Spannschnur zu bilden. Überdies geht es darum, die effiziente Herstellung und Verarbeitung der Überzüge zu ermöglichen. Ohne weiteres soll auch der spätere Benutzer in der Lage sein, den Überzug auf einfachste Weise, z.B. zu Reinigungszwek-ken oder zur Erneuerung, abzunehmen. Eine am Polsterteil zur Fixierung des Überzuges vorgesehene Befestigung darf weder die Arbeitsgänge oder die Ästhetik noch die Herstellungskosten negativ beeinflussen.
