Abstract

The mattress has a foam core and a cover which are both flame resistant. The cover is reinforced by staples or clips which are attached by a cord or belt to resist breaking against the weight of the mattress with a person lying on it. This cord also facilitates for the person to be evacuated on the mattress down a ladder, out a window, over a balcony etc. without having to be rearranged. The cover may be in more than one piece having the cord, belt or even possibly straps on the bottom part only. USE/ADVANTAGE - For use in hospitals, care homes, old peoples homes etc.. It is comfortable and hygienic and inexpensive.

Matratzen sollen einen guten Liegekomfort bieten. Von Pflegebettmatratzen wird zudem verlangt, dass sie eine bessere Hygiene bieten als gewöhnliche Matratzen und auch die grössere Belastung durch Dauerbenützung (oft im 24-Stunden-Einsatz) aushalten. Gewöhnliche Matratzen können relativ leicht brennen, wobei auch schwerbrennbare und sogar extrem schwerbrennbare Schaumkerne bereits bekannt sind, jedoch noch relativ selten eingesetzt werden. Für die Herstellung einer Rettungsmatratze wird ein in der Petrochemie bekannter, extrem schwerbrennbar geschäumter Polyurethanschaum in geeigneter Matratzenqualität auf Ätherbasis als Schaumkern eingesetzt. Die Hülle wird zum Beispiel aus zwei Hüllenhälften hergestellt. Als Hüllenmaterial wird ein schwerbrennbares Gewebe eingesetzt, welches auch mit einer Schicht von etwa 10 mm dik-kem, ebenfalls sehr schwerbrennbarem Polyäther-schaum und einem leicht elastischen Steppstoff auf der Innenseite zusammen versteppt sein kann und so verstärkt wird. Es ist aber auch sonst ein sehr reissfester Hüllenstoff möglich. Die Seitenränder werden ringsum mit einem soliden Band verstärkt, so dass die danach montierten Ösen oder Krampen beim Tragen und Retten des Patienten nicht ausreis-sen. Danach werden die beiden Hüllenhälften mit einer soliden, schwerbrennbaren, etwa 10 mm dicken Kordel oder einer Gurte ringsum, horizontal so zu-sammenverschlauft, dass ein sog. Tragkordelver-schluss entsteht. An diesem kann danach die Matratze mit dem Patienten getragen oder an einem Kran oder Aufzug mit 4 Seilen oder Gurten mit Karabinerhaken aufgehängt und so gerettet werden. Claims

1. Mattress which can be used as a rescue means for rescuing and carrying people, in particular patients in hospitals, nursing homes and old people's homes, with a foam core and a cover, characterized in that the foam core and cover are flame-retardant and that the cover reinforces all around and is provided with eyelets or cramps, which are fastened with a cord or straps, corresponding to the weight of the mattress and a person lying thereon, in order to enable the person lying on the mattress to be carried or with an elevator or a crane or can be evacuated and saved via a fire brigade ladder, a balcony or directly through the window without having to be relocated.
