Cosmetic compsn. for reviving 'tired' skin contains, as active ingredients, a biocomplex (A) contg. placental extract, thymus peptides and highly polymerised DNA, plus a mixt. of plant extract contg. flavonoids and saponins. Pref. (A) is present at 1-5 (2.5) wt.% and comprises (by wt.) 4-12 (8)% bovine or ovine placental extract; 4-12 (8)% calf thymus peptides; 0.5-3 (2)% DNA of mol. wt. over 1 million, and the balance water. The compsns. contain 0.1-1 (0.25)% each of horsechestnut extract (flavonoids) and Ruscus extract (saponins) and may also include a mixt. of aromatic components consisting of oils fo cloves, rose, cedarwood, geranium, patchooli, sandalwood and rosewood, plus vanilla and jasmine. USE/ADVANTAGE - The compsn. stimulates cellular metabolism, cell multiplication and cutaneous microcirculation; and prevents aging of the skin caused by free radicals, etc. The highly polymerised DNA has a better moisturising action than DNA normally used and also has some healing effect. The valvonoids act as vasoconstrictor, and the saponins as astringent and to counteract redness. The compsns. are not irritating and are hypoallergenic.
Description

The present invention relates to a defatigating cosmetic composition, more particularly in the form of a gel containing active principles of natural origin.
In recent years, deoxyribonucleic acid (DNA) has been used in cosmetology, a natural polymer which has interesting properties with regard to skin cells and tissues in particular. However, the cosmetological activity of DNA being limited, it has proved important to search for new compounds or mixtures of compounds of natural origin which make it possible to obtain better results, in particular for improving cell metabolism, promoting the multiplication of cells, improve skin microcirculation, prevent attacks of skin aging by neutralizing the harmful effects of free radicals, etc.
The object of the present invention, aimed at achieving the above object, consists of a cosmetic composition which comprises as active principles a biocomplex containing a placental extract, thymic peptides and highly polymerized deoxyribonucleic acid, as well as a mixture of plant extracts containing in particular flavonoids and saponins.
According to a preferred form of the invention, the cosmetic composition comprises from 1 to 5% by weight of the biocomplex, preferably approximately 2.5%, from 0.1 to 1% by weight of horse chestnut extract containing flavonoids, preferably about 0.25%, and 0.1 to 1% by weight of small holly extract (= ruscus) containing saponins, preferably about 0.25%.
Also according to a preferred form of the invention, the biocomplex is formed from 4 to 12% by weight, preferably about 8% of placental extract, for example bovine or sheep, from 4 to 12%, preferably about 8%, thymic peptides, for example from calves, from 0.5 to 3%, preferably about 2%, of hp DNA (molecular weight greater than 1 million), the rest being water.
It has been shown that placental extracts and thymic peptides improve cell metabolism by increasing oxygen consumption, while hp DNA promotes tissue regeneration and has a higher hydrating power than DNA usually used; it can also have some healing power. One can obtain hp DNA for example from milt from fish. Tests have also demonstrated the combined effectiveness of these biological extracts.
In vitro tests first showed that the biocomplex allows a 120% increase in oxygen consumption (method: Warburg test), which results in an increase in cellular respiration and an activation of metabolism ( use of nutrients and elimination of accelerated toxins). Also in vitro, the biocomplex has been shown to stimulate fibroplast growth from 265 to 324%. Finally, tests carried out in vitro on humans using the so-called "Fluvography" technique have shown a 15% improvement in skin microcirculation.
On the other hand, horse chestnut extract, in particular thanks to the presence of flavonoids, is a vascular tonic, because it activates the microcirculation of blood capillaries by vasoconstrictor effect.
As for the extract of small holly or ruscus, rich in saponins, it has properties against diffuse redness, and is an astringent. It is especially used in preventive treatment of delicate and easily irritable skin.
The combination of the biocomplex and plant extracts makes it possible to give the cosmetic composition according to the invention a relaxing and tiring effect; more particularly, this composition when applied to the skin, smoothes and relaxes the features, decongests the epidermis by activating the microcirculation, promotes cell regeneration, maintains the water balance of the epidermis and provides a feeling of freshness.
The cosmetic composition according to the invention can also incorporate a mixture of aromatic compounds, intended to impart a discreet odor to said composition, without however modifying its characteristics, or adding alcoholic constituents thereto. This mixture of aromatic compounds, for example dissolved in hydrogenated castor oil, can contain cloves, rose, cedar, geranium, patchouli, sandalwood and rosewood, as well than vanilla and jasmine absolutes (hereafter CA).
The invention will now be described in more detail and illustrated with reference to the following example. In this example, the biocomplex (BC) has the following composition: 8% of placental extract, 8% of thymic peptides, 2% of hp DNA, the rest being water. In addition, most of the terms used in the formulation conform to the dictionary of the CTFA (Cosmetics Toilet Fragrances Association / USA).

Preparation:
First prepare a carbomer gel by slowly dispersing it in hot water (approx. 75 DEG C) and introducing it into a reactor. Slight stirring is maintained, while controlling the cooling gradient towards 2-5 DEG C / min., A vacuum of the order of -0.8 to -1.0 bar is maintained in the reactor. At 40 DEG C, the aromatic compounds previously dissolved in the hydrogenated castor oil are introduced. Then neutralization is carried out by slow addition of lysine in aqueous solution (50%), and glyceryl-polyethylene glycol cocoate, the active ingredients in solution in a water / alcohol mixture and the silicone derivative are added. checking the homogeneity of the dispersion after each addition. Finally, the preservatives and the coloring agent are introduced.
A gel is thus obtained which can be packaged in a pump dispenser bottle and used advantageously by applying it to the skin as soon as the latter shows signs of fatigue or else as a preparation for make-up.
Finally, the cosmetic composition according to the invention and more particularly that described above by way of example, has been successfully subjected to the usual tests to prove that it does not produce any skin irritation. On the other hand, other tests have been carried out, which have demonstrated that this composition is hypoallergenic.
