Description
Hier will die Erfindung Abhilfe schaffen.
Fig. 2 einen Querschnitt durch Fig. 1 entlang Linie II-II.
The present invention relates to a method for displaying the remaining duration of a traffic signal according to the preamble of patent claim 1.
The invention further relates to a device for displaying the remaining duration of a traffic signal according to the preamble of claim 4.
Devices are already known with which the remaining duration of the red phase in the case of stop signals can be displayed.
Swiss Patent No. 622 117 describes a display device on a traffic signal or barrier system which is controlled by the pulse of the traffic signal control system which switches on the red signal. The control means is programmed for the duration of the red light phase and triggers a backward-running timer of analog or digital design, which indicates to the road user how long the remaining waiting time lasts.
This known device has the disadvantage that the duration must be set or programmed to the corresponding red light duration of the lighting system. If the red light duration changes, for example at night or during rush hour, the respective new red light times must be preprogrammed. This requires a lot of adjustment work and synchronization with the lighting system on which the display device is installed. For this reason, retrofitting to an existing system is not possible or involves very high costs.
The invention seeks to remedy this.
The invention, as characterized in the claims, achieves the object of creating a method and a device which make it possible to subsequently add the display of the duration of the red or green phase and without intervening in the control of the light signal system.
The measurement of the length of the red or green phase of the lighting system itself, carried out continuously or at predefinable time intervals by the display device, enables the display to be automatically adjusted to the respective lighting system and the possibly changing lighting times of the red or green display.
The electrical supply of the display device takes place via the supply of the red or green light bulb and is therefore only switched on when the respective light is on.
The device can be attached to any existing or new light signal system with little effort and immediately adjusts itself completely to the respective display rhythm.
The invention is explained in more detail using an illustrated embodiment on a display of the remaining duration of the red light. The invention can analogously for the remaining duration of the green light display, e.g. apply to pedestrian crossings. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a view of a light signal system from the front and
Fig. 2 shows a cross section through Fig. 1 along line II-II.
1, constructed in a conventional manner, consists of a housing 3 and on the front 5 arranged signal lights 6 in the colors red, yellow and green. Sun visors 9 made of sheet metal or plastic are placed over the individual lamps. Inside the housing 3 behind the correspondingly colored glasses, light bulbs 7 are arranged in bases 8, which are supplied with current by a control unit which is usually arranged outside the housing 3.
A remaining time display 11 is placed on the sun visor 9 of the orange lamp. The remaining time display 11 can also be placed on one of the sun visors 9 of the red or green light, preferably without tools, or can be attached to another location on the housing 3. The remaining time display 11 according to FIG. 1 consists of a plurality of LED displays or light bulbs which are inserted in a housing 13. The housing 13 is preferably made of rubber or plastic, which can be adjusted when attaching the respective shape of the sun visor 9 and which is connected to the latter with clamps or screws. A ribbon cable 17 leads from the remaining time display 11 to electronics 15, the supply of which is connected to the supply of the red light bulb 7. In the case of a remaining time display for the green light, the supply is of course carried out by that of the green light.
The ribbon cable 17, since it is flat, can be inserted into the housing 3 of the light signal system 1 without modification.
The electronics 15, which is only under voltage during the red phase and is connected in parallel to the lamp, can easily be accommodated within the housing 3 of the light signal system 1 or within the chamber for the red or orange light. The electronics 15 are designed such that they determine the duration of the red phase and correctly reproduce the remaining duration of the red phase from the next red phase. The measured time can be displayed digitally or analogously in a known manner every second or minute. The triggering of the time measurement can be set as desired and the gradation of the time intervals from one display point to another can be freely selected.
By constantly measuring the length of the display rhythm, the electronics always show the correct remaining time regardless of the place of use and regardless of changing light times.
The residual time display according to the invention can also be used in lighting systems with a traffic-dependent switching principle by means of an induction loop. For this purpose, however, a further signal from the induction loop or from the control unit of the light signal system 1 is required, the signal of which can be used to determine the switching rhythm by the electronics 15.
The installation of the remaining time display 11 on an existing system can take place without any intervention in its control and, depending on the design of the housing 13, is plugged with the optical displays onto one of the sun visors 9 and the electronics 15 are accommodated in the interior of the housing 3 of the light signal system 1 and with the voltage supply for the respective light bulb 7, for example connected to the terminals of the bulb base.
As already mentioned above, the remaining time display can also be used on pedestrian strips without changing the green light.
