The invention relates to a saddle with stirrups suspended from stirrup leathers.

With conventional saddle constructions, the stirrups are suspended at one point in the front area of the saddle tree. The rider achieves the correct posture on the horse when the shoulder, hip and heel lie on the same vertical line of gravity. This posture requires a certain position of the thighs, with the risk that the rider tightens and does not achieve an equilibrium state that is adapted to the gait of the horse. So-called knee rolls are arranged on the front edge of the saddle blades as a seating aid. However, these also prevent the rider from moving freely, e.g. in extreme sitting positions when jumping etc. is also a hindrance.

It is therefore an object of the invention to provide a riding saddle whose stirrup suspension enables an optimal state of equilibrium in any sitting position. This object is achieved according to the invention by a saddle which has the features in claim 1. The two-point suspension with the V-shaped loop and the freely movable stirrup means that the stirrup can perform an oscillating movement relative to the saddle, being pressed to the lowest point in every sitting position. As a result, the rider can always fully balance his balance in the stirrup without adopting an incorrect posture. In contrast to conventional suspension, the pendulum movement of the stirrup is oriented parallel to the longitudinal direction of the saddle, which prevents spreading of the legs. In addition, the knee blocks can be completely eliminated, which on the one hand simplifies the construction of the saddle and on the other hand gives the rider greater freedom of movement.

The attachment points on the saddle are preferably approximately on the same horizontal plane. The attachment point, which is at the rear in relation to the longitudinal direction of the saddle, is preferably arranged somewhat lower than the attachment point at the front, namely at the lowest point of the saddle tree. In certain special cases, it would also be conceivable to arrange the fastening points on completely different levels, for example in order to limit the pendulum movement in one direction.

In order to adapt the position of the stirrup leathers to individual needs, more than two fastening points can be provided on the saddle, the stirrup leathers optionally being fixable at two desired fastening points. The length of the V-shaped loop is preferably adjustable with a buckle.

The single figure shows the side view of a saddle according to the invention. The saddle 1 consists essentially of the saddle tree 7 and the upholstered seat surface 11 with the saddle blades 8 on both sides, of which only one is visible here. The saddle strap 2 is designed as an approximately V-shaped loop, which is non-positively attached to the saddle tree 7 at the front attachment point 3 and at the rear attachment point 4. The actual attachment points are covered by the upper saddle blade 9 which can be raised. The attachment points can be buckles or eyelets in a manner known per se, e.g. the front attachment point 3 can be designed as a spring.

In the lowest point of the V-shaped loop, the stirrup 5 is freely movable in the stirrup eyelet 6. The total length of the stirrup strap and thus the distance between the stirrup 5 and the seat surface 11 can be adjusted using a buckle 10.

Between the attachment points 3 and 4 and the stirrup eyelet 6, a polygon train A, B, C is evidently formed, which includes an acute-angled triangle. In the figure, the stirrup 5 is shown in a normal equilibrium position, the vertical line 12 indicating the line of gravity on which shoulders, hips and heels should lie. Alternate stirrup positions are indicated by dash-dotted lines, the lowest points of the stirrup strap being at C 'and at C ". Obviously, the distances between A and C or between B and C change at the different positions.

For example, when jumping over an obstacle, the stirrup 5 can initially take the position C ", the front fastening point 3 being raised first, but due to gravity the stirrup tends to remain in the lowest point of the V-shaped loop the front attachment point 3 downwards, the stirrup taking up position C 'for the same reasons.

But even if the rider comes into an unstable state of equilibrium, he will reflexively shift his body weight into the stirrups, which also immediately fall back to the lowest point and the rider will again reach a stable equilibrium state.

In the figure, the stirrup 5 is shown in the transverse position for better illustration. When riding, the stirrup will of course be arranged approximately at a right angle to the horse flank. The suspension according to the invention has the advantage that when driving the horse, i.e. when slightly turning the tips of the feet, the rider's lower legs are pressed against the horse by the stirrup leathers 2.
