BESCHREIBUNG
Fig. 2 wie Fig. 1, jedoch gemäss einer Variante.
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a self-drilling screw according to the preamble of the first claim.
The attachment of plastic plates or the like. B. ribbed profile scaffolding is a problem because the panels can expand and contract due to moisture, temperature fluctuations, etc. While the scaffold consisting of profiles is relatively insensitive to heat for material reasons and because it is covered, the plates work, i. H. they contract and expand with the ambient conditions, which leads to excessive stress or breakage of the screws or to curvature of the plates.
This problem can only be solved by compensating for these movements of the plates in any way when fastening. A compensation expediently consists in the fact that the screw is centered in the plate hole and fastened in such a way that it permits a shift relative to the plate hole. These shifts can e.g. B. are in the range of about 2 mm.
Self-drilling screws of the type mentioned at the outset are described, for example, in DE-OS 3223708 and are provided with a head, a thread and a cutting device for the hole to be drilled in the plates. However, this version is not equipped with any means to compensate for the movements of the plates due to changes in temperature and humidity, and moreover the head is much too small for this purpose.
Furthermore, GB-PS No. 1 511 856 discloses a self-drilling screw for fastening a plasterboard. This version is intended for fastening plasterboard, but is not equipped with any means to compensate for any changes in mass due to fluctuations in temperature or humidity. In addition, not only because of its size, the head is not suitable for compensating the changes.
Although the problem of expansion and contraction due to changes in temperature and humidity is not new per se, it has become very acute, especially in connection with the introduction of asbestos-free eternit plates, which is why suitable solutions have been sought.
The object of the invention is therefore to provide a self-drilling screw which can be centered securely and which remains in the centered position when the plate is expanded and contracted and thus offers sufficient space for compensation for these dimensional changes.
It is also important that the screw is provided with such a large head that it does not get stuck in the plate hole when the plate is displaced relative to the screw.
The screw should preferably be designed for a relative movement of the plate to the screw of at least 2 mm in each direction.
According to the invention, these objects are achieved with the features of the characterizing part of the first claim.
Embodiments are described in the dependent claims.
The screw connection created in this way has proven to be a reliable solution which ensures permanent compliance with the centered position and thus a secure or break-free holding of the screw at different temperatures etc.
Exemplary embodiments of the self-drilling screw for fastening a plate to a profile frame are explained in more detail with reference to the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 shows an axial section through the screw according to a first embodiment, and
Fig. 2 as Fig. 1, but according to a variant.
1 and 2 show a plate 1 made of wood, plastic, plaster, Pavatex, Eternit etc., which is attached to a frame profile 2 made of a light metal alloy, such as Aluman, by means of a screw 3 with a head 4. Adjacent to the head 4, the screw 3 is provided with a section 5 with a reduced diameter, in which the plate 1 is arranged with play. This prevents the plate 1 from bumping against the screw 3 during expansion or contraction. Further ahead is a threaded part 6 which is intended to be screwed into the profile frame 2. At the very front, the screw 3 is equipped with a device 7 for drilling through both the plate 1 and the profile 2.
To increase the cutting ability of the screw 3, the thread 6 can be interrupted slightly obliquely to the longitudinal direction by a recess 12. The sharp edges of the thread along the line 13 that arise at the separation point increase the cutting ability of the thread.
The thread 6 is designed differently in the two figures. It is about finding a suitable thread for the respective materials. 1 is particularly useful as a metal thread, while that according to FIG. 2 is more suitable for sheet metal or wood. It is assumed that the thread should be selected depending on the materials used. The thread is produced in the wall created by the drilling device.
The aluminum profile 2 is provided on the side facing the plate 1 with ribs 10 as a spacer against the plate 1.
The head 4 is with a normal screw slot or a cross recess 11 for inserting the self-drilling screw 3 z. B. provided by means of a screwing tool.
When the screw 3 is applied, the cutting edge 8 (FIG. 1) or the tip 9 (FIG. 2) is first pressed against the plate 1, the tip 9 facilitating centering. However, it is pointed out in this connection that the individual parts shown in the two figures, such as head and cutting edge or tip etc., can be interchanged, so that, for example, the thread according to FIG.
1 can be used for the embodiment according to FIG. 2.
The ribs 10 have, inter alia, the task of increasing the distance between the plate 1 and the profile frame, in order to ensure that the length of the distance 5 exceeds the plate thickness, and that the thread 6 is nevertheless securely anchored in the profile 2.
In this embodiment, the plate 1 is provided with a hole 14 with a play, so that it can expand or contract freely depending on the climate and temperature changes. The head 4 slides on the surface of the plate 1 and is so generously dimensioned that it does not slip into the plate hole 14 and gets caught in it. If the plate 1 expands or contracts, the screw 3 is not subjected to any severe effects because of the centering of the plate 1.
In one case the diameter of the wall hole is 8 mm and that of the screw 3 is 4 mm, so that there is a play of 2 mm around the screw 3 for the displacement of the plate 1. In this case, the diameter of the head 4 is at least about 12 mm.
The screw 3 is used, for example, by means of a hand drill. Due to the fact that the profile hole 15 is smaller than the plate or wall hole 14, perfect centering is achieved.
