The present invention relates on the one hand to a method for supplying, in a ball bearing mounting machine, the ball bearing mounting station, with balls, according to the preamble of claim 1. On the other hand , the present invention relates to a device for implementing this method, according to the preamble of claim 6.
In the manufacture of ball bearings, the problem arises of supplying at the highest possible speed and precision the device or devices for mounting the ball bearings with suitable balls having a diameter such as the manufacturing tolerances of the two rings d '' A ball bearing to be fitted is compensated, if possible. To this end, traditional ball bearing assembly machines are equipped with several ball magazines with slightly different diameters, the necessary number of suitable balls of which is withdrawn for each ball bearing to be fitted.
The traditional method of supplying balls consists of different distinct operations, such as conveying the balls from the tank into a supply channel, from which a predetermined number of balls is loaded into a template, which is moved laterally to align the balls that it contains above a supply pipe through which said balls supply the mounting device for ball bearings. This process and especially the technical means used to implement it are the basis of several problems. making the mounting of ball bearings relatively slow and susceptible to interruptions by blocking the supply of balls or by feeding an incomplete number of balls.
The object of the present invention is to eliminate these difficulties and to solve the aforementioned problems by proposing a different method for supplying balls to a device for mounting ball bearings and by proposing technical means for the implementation. of this method making it possible to achieve a higher assembly speed and to reduce or even eliminate all the supply problems In addition, the present invention proposes to present a device for feeding balls which can easily and quickly be suitable for any number; and any dimension: of balls used.
According to the present invention, this object is achieved, on the one hand, by a method as defined in claim 1 and, on the other hand, by a device as defined in claim 6.
In what follows are described, on the one hand, the method according to the invention and, on the other hand, an advantageous execution of a device according to the invention, using the drawing, in which:
fig. 1 illustrates a device with a template according to the state of the art,
fig. 2 is a partial section through a first part of a device according to the invention, and
fig. 3 is a section through a second part of the device according to the invention.
In fig. 1, a traditional device for supplying balls to a ball bearing mounting station is recognized, comprising a store-shaped ball reservoir having a bottom part 2 in the form of a funnel used for continuously conveying balls in a pipe 3. The latter feeds into balls a channel 4 located in a room 5 in which a template 6 can move laterally, so that a breakthrough 7 can take two determined positions, one in line below the channel 4 and the other above a channel 8, by which the balls are brought to the ball bearing mounting station.
As mentioned above, this type of known device for supplying ball bearings to a ball bearing mounting device has several disadvantages and problematic points, one of which is the fact that it cannot be excluded that the balls in the tank 1 cling to each other, so that at a certain moment there is no longer any ball which finds its way through the pipe 3. The ball supply from the ball bearing mounting station is therefore interrupted. We try to remedy this drawback by vibrating the reservoir 1. On the other hand, there are no means to guarantee that the desired number of balls is actually in the breakthrough 7, at the instant when the template 6 is moved above the channel 8, in order to debit the balls it contains in this channel which supplies the assembly station of the ball bearings.
Although the height of the template 6 is calculated so that the number of balls necessary for the predetermined diameter can be introduced therein, a subsequent correction of an incomplete number of balls transmitted to the assembly station is no longer possible, after the movement of the template 6. This therefore results in a ball bearing in which one or more balls are missing. Apart from the technical drawbacks of this type of known device, these devices have the disadvantage that they are relatively slow and that each modification in the number of balls used per ball bearing which is to be mounted on the device in question requires replacement. of part 5 and of template 6 which are dimensioned accordingly.
All of these and other disadvantages and disadvantages are eliminated if the method and technical means according to the invention are used.
Instead of routing the balls necessary for mounting a ball bearing in batches that cannot be controlled or corrected, the present invention proposes a dynamic routing controlled piece by piece, which does not only make it possible to eliminate any error in the number of balls mounted in a ball bearing, but also avoids any replacement of elements of the device due to a change in the type of ball bearings mounted, requiring balls of identical diameter. In this process, the number of balls per ball bearing is no longer a critical element involving the replacement of certain mechanical parts of the device because a change of a parameter in the electronic control of the machine is sufficient.
In fig. 2 is illustrated in partial section an advantageous execution of a first part of a device according to the invention, in this case a dynamic ball separator inside a ball magazine 10. In fact, this separator of balls consists in principle of a rigid curved pipe 11 having an upper opening 12, preferably elongated, facilitating the balls to enter the pipe 11, when the latter rotates around the axis AA inside the pile of balls in the magazine 10. Due to the continuous rotary movement of the curved pipe 11, the balls in the magazine 10 are constantly moved and cannot touch the opening 12 of the pipe, so that the latter is continuously filled with balls .
In order to be able to rotate the pipe 11 around the axis A-A, it is preferable to provide a central part 13 penetrating from below into the magazine 10 and which can be driven in rotation, for example by a belt not shown in the drawing. The central part 13 is preferably mounted on a ball bearing 14 in a mounting block 15. The lower end of the curved tube 11 is positioned so as to be located immediately above a second part of the device according to the invention , in this case a ball feeder for the ball bearing mounting station, not shown in the drawing and not forming part of the present invention.
An advantageous embodiment of this second part of the device according to the invention, in this case the supply unit which is used to send one by one the necessary number of balls to the station for mounting the ball bearings, is shown in FIG. 3. One recognizes there the lower end of the pipe 11, positioned in line above an upper channel 16, into which fall as the balls 9 picked up by the upper opening 12 of the curved pipe 11 during its rotary movement inside the magazine 10 filled with balls, in order to stack.
In a lateral channel 17, placed at the bottom of the upper channel 16, is housed a piston 18 intended to move laterally in a controlled manner the ball 9 which is at the bottom of the upper channel 16 until it is at the above a lower channel 19, through which it is evacuated in order to be transported to the mounting station for ball bearings. The piston 18 can be activated and therefore oscillated by compressed air and / or a spring or by any other suitable means, for example electromagnetic fields, so that with each of these controlled movements - in the drawing from left to right - it moves a ball 9 from the bottom of the upper channel 16 to the inlet of the lower channel 19.
It is preferable to provide, at the bottom of the upper channel 16, in the lateral channel 17, a retractable pin 20 serving as a safety element preventing the ball 9 which is at the bottom of the upper channel 16 from rolling in an uncontrolled manner. the lateral channel 17 and allows a second ball to be placed in front of the piston 18. When the piston 18 is activated and moved in the lateral channel 17 in the direction of the lower channel 19, the retractable pin frees the passage, because it cannot resist the force applied at this time. A ball 9, and a single ball, is moved at once in the lateral channel 17 by the piston 18, until it abuts against a stop 21, preferably adjustable.
At this location and at this time, it is preferable to check that indeed a ball 9 is located above the upper opening of the lower channel 19, which can for example be done using a photoelectric cell 22. If this check does not find a ball 9 between the piston 18 and the stop 21, the piston 18 is activated again, in order to fetch the next ball 9 at the bottom of the upper channel 16 which will fall in front of it as soon as '' it will have withdrawn enough to clear the lower outlet of the upper channel 16. If the check for the presence of a ball indicates that indeed a ball is at the upper entry of the lower channel 19, a jet of compressed air is injected from the top into this channel, ejecting the ball 9 from the lateral channel 17 into the lower channel 19 to the mounting station for the ball bearings.
Thanks to this second part of the device according to the invention, it is possible to guarantee an always correct number of balls 9 supplied at the mounting station of the ball bearings and to modify this number by a simple different programming of the control electronics. the machine. A modification of the number of balls required to mount a series of ball bearings therefore does not cause any mechanical modification of the device according to the invention, provided that the diameters of the balls used are not changed.
In the event that balls 9 having a diameter other than the previous ones must be used, it suffices to replace the front part 23 in the assembly 24, which can be done without any difficulty. Of course, in such a case, it is also necessary to either replace the magazine
10 complete comprising the new balls and a central part 13 with a curved pipe 11 adapted to these balls, ie the balls and the central part 13, in order to install a central part 13 having a curved pipe 11 of adequate size. Any replacement of mechanical parts on the device according to the invention is therefore limited in advance to cases of changes in the size of the balls.
By a judicious choice of the internal diameters of the curved pipes 11, it is even possible to use a single part of separation for several dimensions of balls and to replace only the front part
23 of the assembly 24. By this, the handling of the device according to the invention is clearly facilitated and accelerated compared to traditional jig installations.
Because the balls required for mounting a ball bearing are supplied piece by piece at the assembly station and each ball is counted, there can no longer be any error in the number of balls mounted in a ball bearing. marbles. In addition, since the ball separator operates dynamically, a continuous supply of balls is ensured.
It is obvious that both the first part of the device according to the invention, in this case the ball separator, and the second part of the device, in this case the supply, can be produced differently with regard to their construction details. , without however leaving the scope of the present invention. In order to implement the method according to the invention, for example a coil spring, rotating around its central axis, can be used as a supply, provided that it is housed in a tube and that its rotation is controlled. Instead of a laterally displaceable piston, one can also use all kinds of rotary elements having one or more notches in which the balls can be moved individually so as to be engaged one by one in a supply pipe of the station mounting of ball bearings.
In this context, it is only necessary, within the framework of the method according to the invention, to guarantee that the supply part of the balls transmits ball by ball in a controlled manner from the separator to the assembly station.
Nowadays, it is easier and more economical to provide sophisticated electronics to control the supply, than to provide mechanical exchange parts depending on the number of balls used per ball bearing. The present invention is therefore advantageous compared to traditional ball supply installations. It also makes it possible to reach accelerated assembly speeds, because seven balls per Ylo of a second can without other be supplied. In addition, it lowers the costs of adjusting the machine with each change of type of ball bearing fitted, by limiting this work to the entry of new data in the control electronics of the mounting device, the replacement of mechanical parts is only necessary if balls of different diameters are to be used.
