DESCRIPTION
DESCRIPTION
The object of the present invention is an embodiment of a bracelet with articulated links usable in particular as a watch bracelet and which combines the ease of mass production with reliability, the safety of joints and the possibility of giving the bracelet an appearance aesthetic. For this purpose, the present invention aims to produce a bracelet using only basic elements capable of being manufactured in large serine, some of which have an assembly function, while the others ensure the aesthetic appearance of the bracelet.
For this purpose, the present invention relates to a bracelet with articulated links, characterized in that it comprises a set of central parts and a chain formed of rigid elements articulated around transverse axes and in that each central part is rigidly fixed to one or more chain elements located between two neighboring transverse axes.
An embodiment of the object of the invention will be described below, by way of example, with reference to the appended drawing, of which:
fig. 1 is a top plan view of a segment of the bracelet,
fig. 2 a side elevational view of this segment, and
fig. 3 an exploded and partial perspective view illustrating the assembly of the various components of a link.
The entire bracelet which will be described below is not shown in the drawing. It will preferably be a watch strap, the two ends of which are linked by an articulation to one of the front or rear edges of a watch case, while, in the middle of its length, this strap is separated in two and has a clasp, for example of the type with rigid segments, folded over one another, so that the opening of the bracelet in fact consists of an extension of its length making it possible to pass the entire bracelet on the wrist.
In fig. 1, we see two links I and 2 articulated around an axis 3. What is visible from this link is essentially a rectangular plate 4 which consists of a single rigid part having a decorative structure. This central part, which is exactly identical to the central part 5 of the link 2, can be made for example of an extremely hard and rigid material, such as sapphire, or a stone, or else a composite material such as a sintered material with based on tungsten carbide, or titanium carbide, or a ceramic, etc. The decorative aspect of the central part 4 or 5 will be obtained by suitable surface treatments and finishing treatments.
There is no need to enter here into the details of the wide variety of machining and finishing processes that can be adopted to give parts 4 and 5 a particular appearance with aesthetic value. This variety of methods is all the greater as the shape of the central parts 4 and 5 is an extremely simple shape: a rectangular parallelepiped with flat faces. As seen in fig. 3, these rectangular parallelepipeds have, however, in their lateral sides grooves 6 which can also extend into one of the transverse sides of the part, as can be seen on part 5 of FIG. 1. The grooves 6 are used to secure the chain elements 7 to the plates 4 and 5.
These are L-shaped cut elements whose thickness corresponds to the height of the grooves 6 and which carry at their front end and at their rear end eyelets 8 and 9. These eyelets can for example be welded to the ends of the shaped elements
L 7. The element 8 located on the anterior side is set back relative to the element 9 which is placed at the rear end, the transverse offset being equal to the width of the eyelets 8 and 9, this in order to make it possible to achieve joints by means of elements 7, 8, 9 absolutely identical to each other.
In another embodiment, one could provide elements 7, 8, 9 having two different shapes: some being provided with eyelets located at the right of their outer edge, while the others would be provided with eyelets located at the right from their internal edge, the element 7 then having a C shape and not an L shape. However, the embodiment shown in the drawing has the advantage that all of the elements 7, 8, 9 are identical.
These elements serve to produce a chain of articulated elements comprising, between the successive articulation axes 3, each time two symmetrical elements. To make the joints, tube segments are used according to an arrangement known per se. A central tube segment 10 is provided with two nails 1 1 which are driven into its two ends and provided by the crimping grooves 12. The heads 1a of the nails serve as a stop. The diameter of the tube segments 10 is such that their ends engage in the openings of the eyelets 8 and 9, while the heads 1 protrude from these openings and serve as a stop on the edges of the eyelets 8 and 9. As is see, the bracelet is entirely made up of extremely simple elements which are easy to assemble.
The elements 7 are fixed in the grooves 6 by a means ensuring a rigid connection while being easy to implement in large series. Thus the elements 7, according to the constitution and the material of the central parts 4 and 5, can be welded in the grooves 6 or glued or fixed by crimping. Preferably, the elements 7, 8, 9 will be made of an easily machinable metal, for example brass having also undergone, after machining and assembly, a surface treatment ensuring their aesthetic appearance. The components 10 and 1 1 of the joints will be arranged so as to allow adding or removing links at will, which greatly facilitates the fitting of a bracelet to the wrist of the user as well as the after-sales service. .
It is easy to see that the construction described makes it possible to produce the central parts in any material or in any structure, provided that the grooves 6 can be formed in their lateral edges as well as, if necessary, in the front longitudinal edge. Of course, instead of a groove, one could also provide a simple recess, although then the security of the attachment is no longer guaranteed as well as with the presence of grooves 6 which hold the central parts 4 and 5, even in the event of dislocation of the connection, provided that the chain, formed by the elements 7, 8, 9 and the articulation tubes 10 and 11, maintains its structure.
