Description
BESCHREIBUNG DESCRIPTION
The present invention relates to containers and, in particular, to compressible dispensers, the container part of which is formed from laminated walls, product permeation and absorption and oxygen absorption being substantially suppressed in all areas of the container which are susceptible to this.
Compressible tubes made of metal or plastic have long been known in the packaging sector. Tubes made of extruded metal are fragile and prolonged use often leads to wall breaks, so that the goods emerge from a location other than the essentially rigid dispenser opening. Of the known metal tubes, aluminum tubes, which are probably the least brittle, are limited in their area of application, since until now it has not been possible to apply a really satisfactory coating to their inner surfaces when it was necessary to attack and corrode the metal by alkaline ones or acidic ingredients and to prevent contamination of the content by the reaction products. In addition to the relatively fragile nature of a metal tube, the inner coating mentioned requires an additional manufacturing step, which necessarily increases the price of the finished article.
Tubes made of polyethylene and other plastics are used to package many materials. However, it has been observed that certain goods spoil in such containers after some time. Plastic such as polyethylene is permeable to a certain extent if it is used in the wall thicknesses used for tubular containers. The essential oils contained in most flavoring toothpastes decrease in volume during storage of the container, making the toothpaste less palatable. Furthermore, the wall of the plastic container absorbs oxygen over time and finally the product is decomposed, which has indeed been observed with fluoride-containing toothpastes.
Accordingly, it has been proposed to arrange a barrier layer made of a relatively thin metal foil between the goods and the tube body made of polyethylene, in order to prevent the aforementioned loss of essential oils and the absorption of oxygen. According to a proposal, the metal barrier layer forms an intermediate layer between layers of polyethylene; a laminate is produced by heating with or without suitable adhesives.
Obwohl eine Struktur dieses allgemeinen Typs einen Teil der Produktpermeation und der Sauerstoffabsorption durch den Tubenkörper verhindert, insbesondere dann, wenn die innere thermoplastische Schicht ein Copolymer aus einem Olefin und einem eine polare Gruppe enthaltenden Monomer ist, das mit diesem copolymerisier-bar ist, bleibt dennoch die Möglichkeit, dass die Ware verdirbt, Although a structure of this general type prevents some of the product permeation and oxygen absorption by the tube body, especially when the inner thermoplastic layer is a copolymer of an olefin and a polar group-containing monomer that is copolymerizable with it, remains the possibility that the goods will spoil,
wenn auch in viel geringerem Ausmass. albeit to a much lesser extent.
A disadvantage of the polyolefin surface is that the surface is not suitable for accepting printing and decorative materials. In addition, the polyolefin has a memory effect; d. that is, it does not remain compressed after pressing, which is a particular disadvantage with toothpaste tubes. To overcome this lack of compressibility, the metal layer must be relatively thick so that its compressibility is transferred to the plastic.
The object of the invention is therefore to propose a compressible dispenser which has laminated walls in its container area in order to overcome the disadvantages mentioned.
The invention is characterized by the features in the independent claims. Preferred embodiments are defined in the dependent claims.
To achieve this object, a tubular container is proposed, the body of which has several interconnected layers, one of these layers, for example a metal foil, forming a barrier layer against product passage and oxygen absorption and a further layer made of a polyalkylene material such as polyethylene terephthalate or polybutylene terephthalate or a copolymer a small amount of another dicarboxylic acid, the density, melting point and crystallinity being variable. The latter layer forms the inner layer and preferably the outer layer, with various further laminate layers being arranged between them.
These further layers comprise paper and suitable adhesives and binders, e.g. B. a copolymer of ethylene and acrylic acid.
The uppermost polyethylene terephthalate layer 16 adheres to the paper layer 15 by applying enough heat and pressure to the assembly. If the application of heat and pressure is not appropriate, a suitable adhesive is used.
FIG. 2 shows an example of a compressible container made of the laminate structure, in which the layers are shown as in FIG. 1, the layer 11 being the innermost layer and the other layers being made of the same materials in the same order as shown in FIG.
The compressible container according to the invention overcomes the disadvantages mentioned in the prior art. The laminated container body and the laminated shoulder piece 20 completely prevent product permeation and oxygen absorption; This extremely desirable result is achieved using inexpensive materials, which are preferably combined to form a laminate in the manner shown in FIG.
The outer layer made of polyethylene terephthalate consists of a thermoplastic material that is weldable at the side seam formation level and that offers adequate protection for the paper and metal foil intermediate layer. Seam formation in a compressible toothpaste tube of the general type disclosed herein is described in U.S. Patent 3,295,725.

A suitable adhesive can be used if heat welding is not possible. This modification applies in addition to the four-day laminates mentioned above, from the outside in, polyalkylene terephthalate, paper, metal foil and polyalkylene terephthalate; or polyalkylene terephthalate, metal foil, paper and polyalkylene terephthalate. If necessary, suitable adhesives can be used between the layers. Similar structures can be used for the shoulder piece, the cap, the neck, the piston rod, the piston and the structure of the dispensing valves of such containers, in particular in connection with the inner parts which are exposed to the toothpaste contained in the container, and here too, of course If necessary, suitable adhesives are used.
Various modifications of the invention have been disclosed which, among others, belong to the concept according to the invention. If the material according to the invention is applied as a film to the inner surface of the drums made of fiber material, which are used for storing the flavored toothpastes, then the material according to the invention slows down the loss of flavorings in the drums and thereby increases the shelf life.
Das Polyethylenterephthalat (PET) ist besonders geeignet, da es eine sehr niedrige Geschmacksstoffabsorption zeigt, wie aus den folgenden Tabellen ersichtlich ist, in denen PET mit Polyethylen verglichen wird, wobei die Dicken der Schichten oder Überzüge gleich sind: Polyethylene terephthalate (PET) is particularly suitable because it shows a very low flavor absorption, as can be seen from the following tables, in which PET is compared with polyethylene, the thicknesses of the layers or coatings being the same:
