BESCHREIBUNG

Fig. 2 dieselbe Einrichtung in der Stellung für einen Mitteldruck entsprechend der Saugmotorvollast;
Fig. 3 dieselbe Einrichtung in der Stellung für die Vollast des Motors bei einer niedrigen Drehzhal;
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a method for regulating the output of an exhaust-gas-charged internal combustion engine according to the preamble of claim 1. It also relates to a device for carrying out the method.
When regulating the output of a vehicle internal combustion engine equipped with an exhaust gas turbocharger with quantity control (gasoline engine), an overpressure is generated in the intake system of the engine, at least in the supercharging area. By throttling the intake line, the engine torque requested by the driver is set in the intake area of the engine. The overpressure in the intake system of the engine is determined solely by the energy available on the uncontrolled exhaust gas turbine or by the maximum permissible boost pressure.
The maximum permissible boost pressure is controlled by the exhaust gas bypass.
Methods and devices for power control of the type mentioned are already known. One version is shown and described, for example, in MTZMotortechnische Zeitschrift 44 (1983) 4, pages 117 to 120. This device for power control consists of a bypass valve equipped with a membrane and a prestressed coil spring and a control pressure line, the control pressure line connecting the charge air duct of the engine to a pressure chamber of the
Bypass valve connects.
When designing the bypass valve, the specified full load boost pressure is decisive, with the amount of redirected exhaust gas increasing with increasing engine output.
In the control method described, the overpressure generated in the compressor is dependent on the partial quantity of exhaust gas flowing through the exhaust gas turbine. At partial load in the loading area, part of the exhaust gas must be released through the bypass valve into the exhaust pipe. The throttling of the exhaust gas in the bypass valve leads to an increase in gas exchange losses and the associated loss of performance.
The invention is based on the object of providing a method and a device for regulating the output of an exhaust-gas-charged internal combustion engine of the type mentioned at the outset, in which the gas exchange losses in the entire charging area are limited to a minimum.
According to the invention, this object is achieved with the characterizing features of patent claim 1.
The advantages achieved by the invention are essentially to be seen in the fact that the behavior of the engine with respect to the torque curve and acceleration capacity in the loading area is significantly improved, while at the same time improving the economy in the part-load area.
In the drawing, an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention is shown in simplified form.
Show it:
Figure 1 shows a device for power control of a gasoline engine by means of adjustable turbine guide vanes in the position for idling the engine.
Figure 2 shows the same device in the position for a medium pressure corresponding to the naturally aspirated engine load.
Figure 3 shows the same device in the position for the full load of the engine at a low speed.
Fig. 4 shows the same device in the position for the full load of the engine at a high speed.
Identical parts are provided with the same reference symbols in all figures. The direction of flow of the working medium is shown with arrows. Parts that are not essential to the invention, such as, for example, the exhaust pipe of the engine and the exhaust gas turbocharger have been omitted.
In the device shown in Fig. 1, 1 denotes the intake duct of an internal combustion engine, not shown. In the intake duct 1 of the internal combustion engine, a throttle valve 2 is centrally stored in a known manner.
The axis of the throttle valve 2 is firmly connected to a lever 3. A push rod 4 connects an accelerator pedal 5 to a wastegate 9 ... 16, consisting essentially of a pressure housing 14, an intermediate housing 15 and a housing cover 16. In the push rod 4, a bolt 6 and a compression spring 7 are sliding in a centrally located longitudinal slot arranged. The push rod 4 is guided on its side facing the control element in a bore in the housing cover 16 and provided with a pressure stamp 8. A sleeve 9, a harder spring 11, a softer spring 12 and an intermediate membrane 13 are arranged inside the control element. A stop rod 10 is fastened on the housing cover 16.
The boost pressure control member 9 ... 16 is further connected by means of an adjusting rod 17 to a device for adjusting the turbine geometry 18 ... 22 of the exhaust gas turbocharger.
The device 18 ... 22 essentially consists of a ring of adjustable turbine guide vanes 21. On each vane axis 22 arranged parallel to the turbine axis there is a gearwheel segment 20 which is fixedly connected to the vane 21. All gearwheel segments 20 are in engagement with a toothed ring 18 provided with internal toothing, which is connected to the charge pressure regulating element 9 ... 16 via the lever 19 and the adjusting rod 17. The adjusting rod 17 is fixedly connected to the diaphragm 13 in a feedthrough and slidably guided in the pressure housing 14 and in the sleeve 9. A denotes the direction of flow of the engine exhaust gas to the turbocharger and B the charge air to the engine. C denotes the connection point of a control pressure in the pressure housing 14 and D denotes a vent to ambient pressure.
The operation of the control device follows from the following: The position of the control device shown in FIG. 1 corresponds to the idling of the engine. The guide vanes 21 are in the fully open position. When the accelerator pedal 5 is actuated, the throttle valve 2 gradually opens up to the fully open position (FIG. 2). The relatively stiff compression spring 7 displaces the bolt 3 attached to the shaft of the throttle valve 2 via the bolt 6. When the throttle valve 2 is completely open, further movement of the lever 3 and thus the throttle valve 2 is prevented because of the stop rod 10. The pressure ram 8 arranged on the side facing the charge pressure control element 9... 16 lies against the end face of the sleeve 9.
In this area, the engine works as a naturally aspirated engine and achieves the full power that an identical engine without a turbocharger would achieve, since the effect of the exhaust gas turbocharger is negligible because of the still open position of the guide vanes 21 in this area. The pressure in the intake line 1 of the engine remains below the ambient pressure in the entire suction area.
If more torque is required, the softer spring 12 is compressed over the further accelerator pedal travel (FIG. 3). The resulting compression of the compression spring 7 arranged in the pressure rod 4 in this case enables a further axial displacement of the pressure rod 4 in the direction of the charge pressure control element 9 ... 16, with the throttle valve 2 remaining open. The pressure rod 4 acts via the pressure plunger 8, the sleeve 9, the harder spring 11, the membrane 13 and the adjusting rod 17 on the device for adjusting the turbine geometry 18 ... 22 and reduces the blade spacing Y and thus the exhaust gas flow cross section.
In the entire charging area, the charge pressure control is carried out with the throttle valve fully open by means of the adjustment of the turbine guide vanes 21. The boost pressure generated is equal to the setpoint at each operating point, as a result of which the charge air is not throttled at the throttle valve 2 and associated losses are eliminated.
Since the superfluous exhaust gas is released by the turbine and not by a conventional bypass valve at partial load of the loading area, the throttling losses of the exhaust gas are eliminated. As a result, the gas exchange work is reduced and the efficiency of the engine is cheaper.
4 shows the full load position of the device in the loading area at high speed. The control pressure, for example boost pressure, which acts on the membrane 13 through the control pressure line C is now so high that it compresses the harder spring 11, the softer spring 12 being partially relieved. The adjusting rod 17 rotates the ring gear 18 and adjusts the turbine guide vanes in such a way that the exhaust gas flow cross section is enlarged again, with the result that the full load boost pressure is kept below the predetermined limit.
With the prescribed measure, it is possible that no pressure increase is generated in the loader in the entire area of the naturally aspirated engine - with the full suction load corresponding to the load of the charging unit - and that the pressure in the loading area is regulated exactly when the throttle valve is fully open so that the required engine torque is generated.
Of course, the invention is not limited to that shown in the drawing and that described. For example, the transmission of forces from the accelerator pedal to the throttle valve and boost pressure control element and further up to the device for adjusting the turbine guide vanes 21 can also take place by other means, for example hydraulically.
In addition, the control device according to the invention can be integrated into a fully electronic motor-transmission system, the driver merely entering the power requirement with the accelerator pedal. In this case, the gear ratio and engine torque are optimally set for every driving condition.
