Abstract
A balloon (8) is stored in a housing (1). The housing also contains a bottle (2) containing a gas, preferably helium, and a cord (12) wound around a spool (9) and attached to the balloon. The apparatus is brought into use by pulling on the rip cord (10) which opens the bottle outlet valve (3) so that the balloon is inflated with helium. The coupling (6) between the inlet valve (5) and non-return valve (7) is then disconnected and the balloon is released. As the balloon rises it unwinds the cord (12) from the spool (9). USE - For indicating the position of a person in need of rescue.
Description
BESCHREIBUNG
DESCRIPTION
The invention relates to a portable signal device, with which it is possible for a person in an emergency, e.g. B. one who is in water or mountain distress or who has strayed in confusing terrain can be found quickly.
Devices for this purpose have already been proposed, but their usefulness has been questioned because the person in need had to carry out several manipulations which he might no longer be able to do.
The object of the invention is therefore to create a signaling device to be carried by a person at risk, which enables the signaling device to be activated with a manipulation that is very simple to carry out.
The essential features of the device according to the invention result from patent claim 1.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing.
In a covering 1, which can be designed as a canvas bag or plastic container, a compressed gas bottle 2, preferably filled with helium, a signal balloon 8 and a spool 9 with a wound about 30 m long nylon cord is housed. The wrapping is safely found with the person concerned, e.g. B. strapped or attached to a life jacket or backpack worn by her. A line 4, which leads to a valve combination 5, 6, 7, is connected to the outlet valve 3 of the compressed gas bottle 2. 5 is an inlet valve and 7 is a check valve, between which a locking member 6 having a passage channel is arranged.
The mechanical connection between the parts 6, 7 can be released by a release button 11, so that the filled balloon 8 together with the check valve 7 can rise.
The signaling device therefore works as follows: the person who is in an emergency pulls the rip cord 10, as a result the sheath 1 held together by a Velcro fastener is opened wide and, at the same time, the outlet valve 3 on the compressed gas bottle 2 is automatically opened. As a result of the gas pressure that occurs, the inlet valve 5 and the check valve 7 are opened and the balloon 8 is inflated, which can expand beyond the opened envelope. By actuating the release button 11, the balloon is released, as mentioned, and can now rise with the check valve 7 now closed until the tether is completely unwound.
The balloon, painted with a luminescent paint, is visible from afar and can be found quickly with headlights even in the dark.
If there is a desire to further simplify and automate the operation of the device, the parts 6, 7 can also be separated automatically.
A locking mechanism would then have to be provided, which is first brought into a preparatory position by opening the check valve 7 and completely releases the lock when the pressure at the check valve drops.
