The invention relates to a heating cartridge for a dental spray handpiece, which contains an insulating tube which enables the flow of a medium and has a heating element arranged therein, the ends of which are led out of the insulating tube for the purpose of contacting them at the ends.
In the case of heating cartridges of the aforementioned type, it was customary to grasp the insulating tubes at their ends by means of sleeve-shaped contact elements, i.e. H. the insulating pipes with the heating elements arranged in them had to be inserted axially into a corresponding mounting hole. Such an arrangement has the disadvantage that the holder is relatively complicated, the replacement of the heating cartridge is relatively cumbersome, and that a longitudinal seal is also required in this arrangement.
To avoid these disadvantages, it is proposed according to the invention to provide the insulating tube at its two ends with connection elements, each with a section for the direct connection of a media supply and a media discharge line. The design according to the invention enables the heating cartridge to be guided freely and to be contacted by simply designed contact members. In particular, the cumbersome insertion into a corresponding receiving bore and the provision of a corresponding longitudinal seal are eliminated.
Advantageously, the connection elements each contain a further section for contacting external electrical connection elements. There are particular advantages if a mounting plate is provided for holding a plurality of heating cartridges, on which the heating cartridges can be fastened by means of spring clips.
The mounting plate is advantageously designed as a printed circuit board and contains the wiring required for the electrical supply and, if appropriate, the power control of the heating elements of the heating cartridge, and possibly also microswitches. The two sections of the connection elements are advantageously formed in one piece and consist of electrically conductive material. The cartridges can be replaced easily and without the use of tools.
An embodiment of the invention is explained below with reference to the drawing. Show it:
1 shows the heating cartridge according to the invention in a diagrammatic representation,
2 is a holder for two heating cartridges according to FIG. 1st
1 shows a diagrammatic representation of a heating cartridge as used in dental spraying or similar handpieces for heating a fluid (air and / or water). The heating cartridge consists of an insulating tube 1 which enables the flow of the medium, in which a heating coil 2, shown in broken lines in the illustration, is arranged in a known manner. On both sides of the insulating tube 1, connection elements 3 are provided for the direct connection on the one hand of the electrical power supply and on the other hand of the media supply and discharge lines 4. The connection elements 3 consist of a section 3 a which serves for contacting and holding and a section 3 b which serves for the direct connection of the hose line 4.
The two sections 3a, 3b are formed in one piece, consist of electrically conductive material and are connected directly to the ends of the heating coil 2.
According to FIG. 2, the heating cartridge is held on a mounting plate 5, on which resilient clips 6 for receiving the contacting sections 3a are arranged. The mounting plate 5 expediently serves to hold a plurality of heating cartridges and is advantageously designed as a printed circuit board. For this purpose, it contains the wiring required for the electrical supply and, if applicable, power control of the heating element 2 (shown in dashed lines in the figure with position 7) and, if appropriate, additional components, for. B. the microswitch designated 8 in the figure.
Because the connection elements for the electrical as well as for the connection of the fluid are part of the heating cartridge, both simple installation and simple replacement of the heating cartridge are possible. In particular, the axial receiving bore to be provided according to the prior art, into which the heating cartridges are to be inserted, and the longitudinal seal also to be provided there are omitted.
