Machine according to claim 7, characterized in that the conveyor means comprise two movable members each provided with a rotary part provided with gripping means, arranged so as to act one on the punches and the other on the matrices, so that the transfer of these can be carried out independently of the transfer of these.
The present invention relates to a machine for punching the
sheet metal comprising at least two tools - punch and die.
The machines as mentioned above are two
types, namely single-tool machines which are arranged so as to
receive only one pair of tools at a time, arranged in the axis of
machine strikes, and turret machines, which feature
two turrets receiving, at their periphery, one the punches and
the other the dies, the rotation of these turrets bringing the punches
and the matrices, in corresponding pairs, successively in
the striking axis of the machine.
The object of the present invention is to improve machines for punching sheet metal by providing means for quickly changing the tools of single-tool machines and quickly loading and unloading the turrets of machines of the second type. In fact, turret machines are limited, in their ability to change tools, to the number of positions that the turrets have.
It is, in particular, not possible to increase this capacity by changing, on the turrets, during the work of the machine, the tools which these carry.
This object is achieved by the means defined in claim 1.
The drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a first embodiment of a punching machine, shown diagrammatically.
Fig. 2 is a side view, in elevation, of this machine, on a smaller scale.
Fig. 3 is a perspective view of a detail of this machine, on a larger scale.
Fig. 4 is a plan view of a detail of this machine on a scale corresponding substantially to that of FIG. 3.
Fig. 5 is a plan view of a detail of FIG. 4, on a larger scale.
Fig. 6 is a section along the broken line VI-VI of FIG. 5, on an even larger scale.
Figs. 7 and 8 are plan views, respectively in elevation, of a tool loader-unloader device shown diagrammatically, forming part of the machine of FIGS. 1 to 6, and
fig. 9 and 10 are front views, respectively in profile, of a second embodiment of a punching machine.
The punching machine shown in figs. I to 6 is of the tool turret type. It comprises a frame 1 supporting a swan neck 2 carrying the striking head of which only the end of the striker has been shown, at 3, the striking axis being designated by 4 (fig. 2). The swan neck 2 carries, rotatably mounted on it, a turret 5, schematically shown in FIG. 2, the detail of which has been shown in FIG. 3, itself carrying a series of punches 6 distributed around its periphery.
As for the frame, it carries, rotatably mounted on it, a turret 7 of which only one detail is visible in the drawing, shown in section in FIG. 6. This turret carries a series of dies 8 corresponding, in pairs, to the punches 6.
The electronic control of the machine is arranged so that the various punches, with their corresponding matrix, can be brought successively, by rotation of the turrets 5 and 7, to coincide with the striking axis 4 of the machine.
In order to allow the turrets 5 and 7 to be loaded and unloaded automatically from their tools, punches 6 and dies 8, respectively, the tools are not supported directly by the turrets but mounted on them using door members -tools of different types, designated by 9, 10, 11 and 12, respectively, in the form of pallets. These tool holders are pierced with holes into which the punches and dies engage, respectively.
The tool holders are provided with means enabling them to be engaged on the turrets, by radial displacement relative to the center thereof, like a plug-in.
In the case of tool holders 9 and 11, these insertion means are
constituted by two tenons 13 engaging in radial holes 14 formed in the turrets and which open on the lateral face of the latter. Each tenon 13 has two tangential clearances forming two diametrically opposite flats 15, with which movable latches 16 (FIG. 6) cooperate which are carried by the turrets.
These locks are subjected to the action of return springs 17, which keep them applied against the flats 15, thus blocking the tool holders 9 and 11 on their respective turret. The machine comprises, for the release of the tool holders, control members not shown, in the form of forks, which engage on the pins
13 and act on the latches 16, on either side of the studs, to move them against the action of their return springs and to release them from the studs.
As for the tool holders 10 and 12, they are each provided with a single central stud, designated by 18, engaging in one or the other of the radial holes 19 which the turrets have. These pins 18 are blocked by latches like the blocking of the pins 13 described above. The exact positioning of the tool holders 10 and 12 is ensured by fingers 20 which have said tool holders engaging in holes 21 formed in the turrets and which open on the edge thereof.
Thanks to the fact that the tool holders are plugged into the turrets by a radial movement, it is possible to load and unload the tools even while the machine is in service, taking advantage of the times when the turrets are stationary, either by hand or by mechanical means. In the latter case, a charger-unloader device such as that shown diagrammatically in FIGS. Will be used for this purpose. 7 and 8, positioned laterally relative to the swan neck 2 of the machine.
This device comprises a magazine, generally designated by 22, comprising a frame 23, of elongated shape, on which rotate two endless chains 24 and 25 arranged so that tool holders 9 and 10 on the first and 11 and 12 on the second.
The loader-unloader device further comprises two guide rails 26 and 27 on which move, in the direction of the arrows 28 and 29, two carriages 30 and 31, respectively. These carriages each carry a column 32, respectively 33, rotatably mounted, provided with arms 34, respectively 35, themselves provided with gripping means, not shown in detail, of the tool holders 9 to 12. In a movement of va- back and forth along the rails 26 and 27, the carriages 30 and 31 bring their gripping members to grasp, at one end of the travel, a tool holder from the magazine, then to extract it by disengaging its tenons and, at the other end of its travel, perform the same operation with regard to the tool holders by the turrets 5 and 7 of the machine.
When the arms 34 and 35 are fitted with tool holders, a rotation of 180 of the columns 32 and 33 takes place, which allows the exchanger to place the tool holders which have just been placed on the machine turrets. taken from the magazine and bring back on it the tool holders that have been removed from the turrets.
This tool loading and unloading device makes it possible to replace the tool holders of the turrets while a pair of tools (punch and die) is in work under the hammer of the machine, without interrupting the work. The tools can also be replaced during the movement of the sheet, for example during a repositioning of the latter. It should be understood, of course, that the tool change operation does not require a time greater than that of the work in progress (punching) or that of the movement of the sheet (repositioning).
In the embodiment of Figs. 9 and 10, the machine, generally designated by 36, whose striking axis is designated by 37, is of the single-tool type, that is to say that it is devoid of turrets. In this machine, the punch, designated by 38, and the die, designated by 39, are carried by two tool-carrying members or pallets 40, respectively 41. The first is fixed against a bearing face 42 of the upper part, designated by 43, of the frame of the machine, by insertion of tenons 44, and the second is fixed against a bearing face 45 of the table, designated by 46, of the machine, by insertion of tenons 47. The means of plugging and locking are identical to those which have been described previously in relation to the first embodiment of the machine, so that they will not be described in more detail here.
Thanks to this arrangement, the tools, either in pairs or the dies alone, can be quickly and easily replaced, it being understood that there will be a set of pallets 40 and 41 which will have been fitted beforehand with tools. This replacement will be carried out either manually or using a device similar to that of FIGS. 7 and 8, then being placed in front of the machine and not laterally as in the case of the machine of FIGS. 1 to 6, and which will no longer be used to load and unload turrets, as in the first embodiment, but to change the tools while working on the machine.
It should be noted that it is not necessary, whether in the case of the turret machine or the single-tool machine, to always transfer the tools in pairs, the transfer of a single tool, namely the matrix, which can be envisaged when it is a question, for example, of punching holes of the same nominal diameter in sheets of different thicknesses. The tool transfer device described above being two-way, it makes it possible to act on only one tool at a time.
Thanks to this arrangement, the capacity of the machine, and above all its versatility, are considerably increased, the number of tools the use of which is no longer limited by the number of turret positions but by the capacity of the stores 22.
The machine function control program will be established to make the best use of both the capacity of the turrets and that of the magazines.
