8. Seal according to one of claims I to 7, characterized in that it is made of 100% shockproof polymethyl methacrylate.
The invention relates to a security seal which offers the possibility of trapping a link, or any other suitable object, and of being unable to be opened or attempted to be opened, without destruction or deterioration of at least one of the elements which make it up, while ensuring that it cannot be replaced.
Seals have long been designed to meet at least the obvious requirement to carry easily detectable traces of fraudulent manipulation of the part of the seal which provides the protection sought.
In very many cases, it is possible either to undo the seal without traces of fraudulent manipulation appear, or to slightly deform the seal and attempt to reconstitute it subsequently, or else to replace it with another apparently identical.
In particular, lead seals which trap a link such as a rope or wire can be deformed: the link can be removed and the lead can, as best they can, be reconstituted without a visible and certain trace appear.
Certain other metallic seals, having a rollable tab, are sometimes unrolled and then more or less reshaped without fraud being undoubtedly detected, or are simply replaced.
The object of the invention is to remedy these drawbacks and to provide a security seal which inseparably traps a link. or any other suitable object, and which in addition cannot be opened nor attempted to be opened, or deformed without traces permanently remaining there, and cannot be replaced by its equal either.
To this end, a security seal is provided, consisting of fitting and snapping a male element into a female element by elastic stressing of the material to ensure the confinement of one or more objects, characterized in that the male part comprises a base forming a flat surface provided with a protrusion extending from this surface to form an intermediate part which ends in a bulge delimited by a shoulder and in that the female part comprises a housing complementary to the male part and whose the bottom, corresponding to said bulge, is delimited by a narrowing corresponding to the abovementioned shoulder so as to allow the male element to snap into the female element.
In a preferred embodiment of the invention the projecting part of the male element is designed to receive a notch or any other means according to the requirements required by the objects it is intended to seal.
The aforementioned notch is intended to receive an object such as a link, of whatever nature, to be irretrievably imprisoned there. For this purpose the notch can be provided, along its two walls. indentations forming baffles.
The design of the seal is such that it makes any imperfection apparent during the installation of the seal. Indeed, in the case where the coupling of the two elements of the seal according to the invention is not properly executed, these said elements remain visibly separated and completely separate from the object to be sealed.
The seal also has the advantage of not requiring any special tools for its installation, which is not the case for most traditional metal seals such as those described above.
In addition, each of the two elements of the seal offers a flat base allowing the most diverse markings, at the discretion of the users.
Thus each of the elements of the seal can bear engraved, in a very legible and unalterable manner, absolutely original identification marks. Each seal then constitutes a unique piece which, once applied, makes any attempt at fraudulent replacement impossible.
Other details and advantages of the invention appear from the description presented below. This description is given by way of example only and does not limit the invention itself. The notations and references relate to the figures of the attached sketch.
Figure 1 is a plan view of the seal according to the invention.
Figure 2 is a sectional view along line A-A 'of Figure 1 and shows only the single male element.
Figure 3 is a sectional view along line B-B 'of Figure 1 and shows only the male element.
Figure 4 is a sectional view of the female element.
The seal shown in these figures consists of the assembly of a male part M (Figures 2 and 3) and a female part F (Figure 4).
The projecting part or prominence 3 of the male element M, called the harpoon, is provided at its end with a bulge 1 delimited by a shoulder 12 and intended to be introduced into the orifice 7 of the female element F, which is delimited by a vertical edge 6 and a horizontal seat 8 projecting. In addition to the orifice 7, the female element comprises a peripheral part 13 and an intermediate part 14.
The harpoon 1 and 3 of the male element is shown provided with a slot 5, which does not exclude the possibility of designing it without this slot or with other characteristics.
In the case of a seal designed with the notched harpoon 3, a characteristic of the invention lies in the fact that the notch has baffle indentations (5a) on its two slopes perpendicular to its axis. These notches are used to ensure the perfect maintenance of
the imprisoned object. This feature is suitable for sealing a link.
As shown, the male element M has a base 2 offering a flat surface 10. This also makes it possible to block any flat object between this flat surface 10 and the corresponding edge 11 of the female element. Thus, for example, one can pierce an edge of the two walls of an envelope or a sachet, a hole equal to the bulge 1, insert the protrusion in the hole and seal the envelope or the sachet by subsequent snap-fastening of the male parts. and female of the seal.
The two elements of the seal are advantageously made of plastic, for example made of 100% impact-resistant polymethyl methacrylate and at least one of them may be transparent. Thus appear better any alterations made to the seal.
