Description
The invention relates to a device for the separation of solids from liquids.
Devices of this type have the task of removing contaminated water, such as flakes, mineral substances, etc. (hereinafter referred to as sludge) from contaminated, chemically treated or solid particle-carrying water (hereinafter referred to as waste water). For this purpose, the wastewater is channeled into large pools in large quantities and the sludge can be settled by greatly reducing the flow rate. Often, however, the construction of large pools is not possible due to lack of space, so smaller pools in a special design have to take on this separation task. It can be seen that the water-sludge separation can be carried out in a shorter way in a funnel basin if the sludge is drawn off at the lower end of the funnel and the cleaned water can flow off via a special overflow.
According to the invention, therefore, a device for the separation of solids from liquids, such as Rainwater in the separation of coarse and fine sludge in biological wastewater treatment, as well as in water treatment and sedimentation of substances with fluffy and very fine crystalline structure is proposed, in which a double sedimentation basin is formed from two funnel-shaped sedimentation basins, one of which is located within the is arranged, wherein both the outer and the inner of the sedimentation tanks are provided for the reception of solid particles of a different size range.
Such interlocking basins can be made of concrete, steel, plastic, etc., the outer basin preferably being used for coarse sludge settling and the inner one for fine sludge settling or vice versa.
Embodiments of the invention are described in more detail with reference to the drawing.
Feinschlammes gezeigt. 1 shows a vertical section in the upper representation, and in the lower representation a top view of a device designed according to the invention, FIG. 2 shows a further embodiment of the device according to the invention in a section in the plane AB of FIG. 1, and FIGS. 3 and 4 are in FIG Details for the deduction of the rough or Fine sludge shown.
In the double hopper basin shown in FIGS. 1 and 2, first the coarse sludge 4 and then the fine sludge 7 are deposited. This takes place in that the waste water arrives from an inflow line 1 in an inlet section in the form of a distribution box 2 and from there to an overflow from which it overflows into the outer settling basin. The solids can settle due to the sharp reduction in the flow velocity. The strong speed reduction is achieved by the arrangement of a liquid distributor 3 which distributes the waste water over the entire cross-sectional area available after the overflow.

By flowing around the inner funnel, the water freed of the coarser solid particles then reaches the side of the inner settling basin opposite the inflow side and is guided here through a partition wall 6 with horizontal slots or holes 6a, 6b into the inner settling basin. The slits or rows of holes extending along the basin wall enable the water to enter the inner basin over a large cross-sectional area at a low speed and with little turbulence, where the fine sludge can settle.
A uniform passage speed of the water is brought about by increasing the widening of the slots or increasing the hole diameter with the height. The water outlet 10 from the inner sedimentation basin is separated from the inside of the basin by a diaphragm wall 9 of the same design, so that the reduced flow velocity is maintained over the longest possible distance - here from the partition wall 6 to the diaphragm wall 9. Particular attention should be paid to the fact that no additional turbulence occurs on the route from the inlet (partition 6) to the outlet from the inner funnel basin and - in contrast to the outer basin - ideal conditions are created for the settling of fine sludge.
In order to also calm the flow in the area of the coarse sludge settling in the outer settling basin, it is advisable to install an intermediate wall 13 with corresponding slits 13a or holes 13b between the inner settling basin and the upper vertical part of the wall of the outer settling basin (FIG. 2). Here, however, the slot widths or hole diameters would have to increase from the top to the bottom, so that the flow resistance is lower and the main flow flows under the intermediate wall 13.
The coarser and finer solid particles can then be deducted in two ways. In the first case, the fine sludge 7 deposited in the inner sedimentation basin is discharged from the outer sedimentation basin through a pipe 12, which extends from the lower end of the inner sedimentation basin to the lower end of the outer sedimentation basin, at the same time as coarser solid particles or, as referred to in simplified form, below (Figure 3). In the second case, the fine and coarse sludge is discharged separately in the area of the lower end of the outer settling tank (FIG. 4). The latter option is used if the ratio of coarse to fine sludge fluctuates greatly or a separation of coarse and fine sludge is desired.
Als Dichtemesseinrichtung würde It should also be noted that the degree of pollution of the wastewater fluctuates in practical operation and thus the solids levels in the outer and inner sedimentation tanks do not remain constant with the same amount of wastewater inflow. An automatic system could be installed here, which increases the sludge discharge when a maximum height is reached and accordingly also reduces the discharge when the height falls below a minimum. This automatic sludge removal system could be controlled by density measurements at two different heights in the outer and / or inner sedimentation basin. As a density measuring device would

sich eine solche mit radioaktiven Isotopen wegen der besonderen Messgenauigkeit und Robustheit vorzüglich eignen. such with radioactive isotopes are particularly suitable because of their special measuring accuracy and robustness.
Furthermore, the wastewater inflow quantity is important for the operation of the described device, because an adequate dwell time of the wastewater in the sedimentation basin is required to achieve a certain degree of clarification. When designing the device, one will therefore assume a maximum wastewater inflow with an appropriate dwell time. With a lower inflow, there will be an increase in the residence time (better degree of clarity) because then the average flow rate in the two sedimentation tanks will be lower due to the predetermined constant maximum water surfaces. To maintain these maximum water surfaces, it is necessary to keep the water level in the inner sedimentation tank constant and to regulate the water drainage through the diaphragm wall 9. This requirement can be met by means of a level monitoring system 14 in the inner settling tank, with which the opening width of the slots or holes in the slot wall 9 for the water drainage can be controlled by a slide 15.
. The advantages of the device according to the invention are numerous. The arrangement of the inner funnel-shaped sedimentation basin results in an extension of the sedimentation distance and thus a better separation of water - solid or sludge. This means that - compared to a hopper sedimentation basin without an internal sedimentation basin and the same water throughput - a better separation of water and sludge or - with the same degree of separation - a higher throughput is possible. A further advantage is achieved by arranging the means for reducing the wastewater flow rate after flowing into the device, because the coarse sludge can settle more easily and is not carried away with the flow. Likewise, the slots or holes in the interspaces 13 between the inner and the outer sedimentation basin bring about a better water quantity distribution and a flow stabilization, so that an average flow rate is established. Further advantages result from the control of the sludge discharge independent of the inflow with the aid of density measuring devices 5, 8 and the possibility of discharging coarse and fine sludge either together or separately. Finally, in the case of a rectangular cross section of the sedimentation basin (FIG. 1), the usable cross-sectional area can be expanded at any time by adding a second unit laterally perpendicular to the flow direction of the waste water. The inflow opening and the water drain can be carried out together for both device sections.
The possibility of using the device according to the invention in practice lies particularly in the separation of coarse and fine sludge from waste water, in biological waste water treatment and in water treatment. It is also possible to use the device for separating the precipitation in the water in chemical precipitation processes. Further examples of the use of the device according to the invention are all sedimentation processes, e.g. in electroplating in the recovery of valuable components from wastewater.
