The invention relates to a temperature sensor according to the preamble of claim 1. ¯
For the installation of temperature controllers in boiler systems, it is known to screw a protective tube into the nut thread of a bore on a boiler wall, which consists of a tube piece with a threaded nipple that is closed on one side, and which, when installed, protrudes with the tube piece into the interior of the boiler and for receiving a measuring insert, for example a temperature controller. The measuring insert can thus be inserted into the protective tube and thus exposed to the temperature of the boiler water without the measuring insert coming into direct contact with the medium whose temperature is to be regulated. The protective tube together with the measuring insert then forms the temperature sensor of the temperature controller (hand list 16613-D. 1.63, boiler controller RAK3 from Landis & Gyr).
With the relatively slow temperature changes of such boiler systems, the measurement accuracy achieved in this way is entirely sufficient, all the more so since the liquid-filled measuring elements used there already have a relatively large time constant.
Higher rates of temperature change and higher measuring accuracies require sensors with a smaller time constant and better thermal coupling to the medium to be measured. Thermocouples, semiconductor pills or metal wires melted into glass are then used as measuring elements.
The known temperature sensor arrangement is then no longer sufficient because the amount of heat flowing through the protective tube to the colder boiler wall and through the measuring insert itself falsifies the measurement result in an impermissible manner, which has a particularly unfavorable effect if, for spatial reasons, only a small immersion depth of the protective tube is possible in the medium to be measured.
The object of the invention is to achieve the best possible thermal coupling to the medium to be monitored with a measuring element which is installed in a protective tube, even with a small immersion depth, and thus a high measuring accuracy by minimizing heat dissipation on the measuring element.
The invention is characterized in claim 1.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawing.
Show it:
Fig. 1 shows a longitudinal section through a temperature sensor, consisting of a protective tube and a measuring insert used therein, and
FIG. 2 shows in detail a section along the line A-A of FIG. 1.
In Fig. 1, 1 means a threaded nipple with a threaded bolt 2, which can be screwed sealingly into a nut thread, not shown, of a container wall. A pipe section 3 closed on one side then penetrates into the interior of the container. Between the threaded nipple 1 and the pipe section 3 there is a thermally well insulating intermediate piece 4, which holds the threaded nipple 1 and the pipe section 3 together in a sealing manner and combines them to form a protective tube. For this purpose, the intermediate piece 4 is seated in a central bore 5 of the threaded nipple 1, which has a shoulder 6 common to the intermediate piece 4. The paragraph 6 limits the position of the intermediate piece 4 in the longitudinal direction against the inside of the container. The intermediate piece 4 is penetrated in its central bore 7 by the open end of the tube piece 3, which is designed as a sleeve 8.
The sleeve 8 has a collar 9 at its end lying inside the threaded nipple 1. Between the collar 9 and the one end face 10 of the intermediate piece 4 there is an O-ring 11 which seals the pipe section 3 and the threaded nipple 1 against one another. The necessary pinching of the O-ring 11 in the longitudinal direction is achieved in that the side of the collar 9 facing away from the O-ring is supported by a second, annular insulating part 12, which in turn is held in its axial position by a snap ring 13. His groove 14 is provided in the bore for receiving the snap ring 13.
A measuring insert 24 built into the described protective tube consists of a thermally poorly conductive insulating part 15, at one end of which there is a measuring element 16 which detects the temperature and which is suitably inserted or glued into the interior of the sleeve 17.
A supply cable can be connected to the wires 18 leading to the measuring element 16 within the insulating part 15 and fastened, for example, by casting with a casting compound.
After inserting the measuring insert 24 into the described protective tube, the sleeve 17 with the measuring element 16 must be connected as well as possible in a heat-conducting manner to a bore 19 arranged at the end of the tube section 3. For this purpose, the sleeve 17 can inevitably with its end face on the bottom of the bore closing the pipe section 3
19 concerns. In order to achieve this and also to ensure good heat transfer on the circumference, it is advantageous if the sleeve 17 is designed as a threaded bolt and the bore 19 has a matching nut thread. When inserting the measuring insert 24 into the protective tube, a rotary movement must then take place.
However, if a short supply cable is present, this can be disadvantageous. To ensure a metallic thermal bridge between the sleeve 17 and the bore 19, it is expedient to make the bore 19 somewhat larger in diameter than the sleeve 17 and to insert a heat-conducting sheet 20 into the bore 19. The heat-conducting sheet 20 is formed from a metal strip of good thermal conductivity and its width corresponds approximately to the depth of the bore 19. The flat metal strip is evenly distributed over its length at three points perpendicular to its broad sides and thus forms viewed in the direction of a broad side, a square open in a corner that can be inserted into the bore 19.
When the sleeve 17 is subsequently pushed into the bore 19, the heat-conducting plate 20 deforms elastically between the sleeve 17 and the bore 19 (FIG. 2) and thereby ensures good heat transfer to the measuring element 16.
As a measure to increase the heat transfer to the measuring element 16, it is also expedient, particularly with a vertically arranged temperature sensor, to fill the space between the sleeve 17 and the bore 19 with an oil. So that this can neither escape nor volatilize, a sealing lip 21 arranged on the insulating part 12 is used. For this purpose, the bore of the insulating part 12 is slightly conically narrowed towards the inside of the protective tube and has a recess 22 in a ring around the conical part, so that the resulting sealing lip 21 can slide resiliently on the circumference of the insulating part 15. This results in a sufficiently tight seal to the outside.
Grooves 23 arranged on the circumference of the pipe section 3 and in the area of the measuring point serve to enlarge the heat transfer area.
The plastic PVDF is suitable as an insulating material for the poorly heat-conducting parts 12, 4, 15.
The sensor arrangement described allows the sensor to be installed even on a straight piece of a 3/4 "pipe.
For this purpose, a threaded sleeve for receiving the threaded bolt 2 is welded perpendicular to the pipe.
The measuring element 16 is then located directly in the center of the pipe cross section and is washed around on all sides by the possibly flowing medium, which results in high measuring accuracy and a small time constant. The easy removal of the temperature sensor is still guaranteed at all times.
The fact that there is no direct metallic connection, neither from the measuring element 16 nor from the pipe section 3 to the threaded nipple 1, results in low heat dissipation at the measuring element and thus a small measurement error.
