The invention relates to a container for a flowable product to be dispensed under pressure of a blowing agent in metered amounts, with a circular cylindrical body made of hard plastic material, a bottom with a closable opening for filling in the blowing agent and a head with an outlet nozzle of the flowable product.
Containers for a flowable product are known which are used as so-called aerosol cans.
The flowable product is sprayed from such cans under pressure of the blowing agent by opening a dispensing valve mixed with the compressed gas. Mixing the flowable product with compressed gas is not always desirable.
CH-PS 546 680 describes a can for a flowable product and a pressure medium for dispensing the product under pressure, in which the flowable product is dispensed in metered quantities from the can without mixing with compressed gas. For this purpose, a bubble made of rubber-elastic material is provided in the interior of the container, forming the partition between the cavity for the flowable product and the cavity for the blowing agent. The bladder expands due to the compressed gas acting on it and thus pushes the flowable product out of the can through a dispensing valve.
Due to the expanding bladder, however, the contents of the can cannot be completely dispensed because the bladder cannot lie completely against the inner wall of the container in the last phase of its expansion; this means that remains of the flowable product remain in such a can. Furthermore, certain requirements are placed on the material strength of the bladder because the bladder must not burst or crack during expansion.
The dispensing valve that can be opened by finger pressure is prone to failure.
It is the object of the invention to provide a container for a flowable product to be dispensed under pressure of a propellant, which is designed such that the flowable product can be completely dispensed therefrom. The construction of such a container should be simple and cheap and its function should be trouble-free.
These objects are achieved in accordance with the invention in the case of the container mentioned at the outset in such a way that a piston is freely displaceably arranged in its circular-cylindrical body, which seals the cavity for the flowable product from the cavity for the propellant, and that a hose passes through its head is guided, one end of which points into the cavity for the flowable product is placed on the dispensing nozzle and the other end opening on the outer surface of the head can be compressed by means of a spring-loaded lever which is pivotably arranged on the head.
The piston advantageously has a sealing edge at least on its surface facing the cavity for the flowable product.
The subject matter of the invention is explained in more detail below with reference to the drawings, for example. Show it
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the container according to the invention and
FIG. 2 shows a longitudinal section of the container according to FIG. 1.
The container shown has a circular cylindrical body 1, a bottom 2, which is advantageously in one piece with the body 1, and a head 3. At least the circular cylindrical body 1 is made of a hard plastic material, so that it has a rigid shape. In the bottom 2 there is a closable opening 4 which serves to fill in a propellant. The propellant is advantageously a liquid gas which is introduced into a cavity 7 for the propellant in the body 1 via the closable opening 4. In the head 3 there is a dispensing nozzle 9 for the flowable product, which is located in a cavity 8 of the body 1. The two cavities 7, 8 are separated from one another by a piston 5 which is arranged in the interior of the body 1 in a freely displaceable manner.
A hose 10 made of silicone rubber is guided through the head 3. One end of this hose 10, which points into the cavity 8 for the flowable product, is placed on the dispensing nozzle 9. This end of the hose 10 is sealed and held in the head 3 by the dispensing nozzle 9. The other end of the hose 10, which opens onto the outer surface of the head 3, can be compressed by means of a lever 11 which is pivotably arranged on the head 3. The lever 11 is spring-loaded, the spring, as can be seen from FIG. 2, is a leaf spring 12. But it can also be a compression coil spring.
Depending on the viscosity of the flowable product, a different diameter of the dispensing nozzle 9 is used, i.e. that the diameter of the dispensing nozzle is always matched to the viscosity and fineness (grain size) of the flowable product. By actuating the lever 11 against the action of the spring 12, the other end of the hose 10 is released, so that the flowable product can emerge from the container. By operating the lever 11 for a limited time, the desired metered quantity of the product is dispensed from the container.
A valve is accommodated in the base 2, which enables liquid gas to be filled into the cavity 7. The outflow of the liquid gas from the cavity 7 of the body 1 is avoided by this valve. In the cavity 7
the liquid gas evaporates, creating a gas pressure of around 2.5 atm. This gas pressure causes the piston 5 to be displaced in the direction of the head 3 when the other end of the hose 10 is released, so that the flowable product located in the cavity 8 is pressed out through the dispensing nozzle 9 and the hose 10.
The piston 5 is flat and has at least on its surface facing the cavity 8 for the flowable product a sealing edge 6 in order to properly seal the flowable product in the cavity 8 from the propellant in the cavity 7. However, the sealing edge 6 can also be provided on the surface facing the cavity 7, as can be seen in FIG. 2. The surface of the head 3 facing the cavity 8 for the flowable product, at which one end of the hose 10 opens, is flat, so that the piston 5 is in its outermost position when the flowable product has been completely squeezed out of the cavity 8, lies against this surface. It is thereby achieved that the entire amount of the flowable product is expressed from the cavity 8, so that no residues of the flowable product remain in the cavity 8.
The only remnant remains after the product has been squeezed out of the cavity 8 only in the tube 10.
When the container is being filled, the piston 5 is first inserted into the body 1 until only the volume for the propellant remains. For this purpose, a stop (not shown) of any kind is provided. Then the flowable product is poured into the cavity 8 and the head 3 is attached to the body 1. The head 3 can be secured in position with a pin, by means of welding or with a snap system.
It would also be possible for the head 3 to be provided with an external thread and to be screwed into the body 1 with an internal thread provided in its upper part. Then the propellant is filled into the cavity 7 through the closable opening 4 provided in the bottom 2. Immediately after the filling process has been completed, the lever 11 can be actuated, the flowable product being able to exit through the dispensing nozzle 9 and the hose 10. After releasing the lever 11, the upper end of the hose 10 is pressed together and the dispensing of the flowable product is stopped.
It is provided that the container is manufactured as a disposable container, but a refillable variant would also be conceivable.
The advantage of the container described above is that the flowable product, such as toothpaste, hand or shaving cream, tomato puree, is completely squeezed out of the container except for the rest in the tube. Since no lid has to be unscrewed, as is the case with some containers, which lids are used to prevent the flowable product from drying out in the container, the container described above is characterized by quick and convenient one-hand operation. Given the rigid shape of the body, the advertisements or notes on its outside can always remain completely legible.
The container remains aesthetically perfect until the end of its use. The container, the head of which can be made in one step with the dispensing nozzle and the hose, practically consists of only three parts which can be easily put together.
