Abstract
An electrically excited tuning fork for use in electrical and electronic devices has a tuning fork oscillator with a pair of fork legs (1a, 1b), one of which is provided with a piezoelectric crystal layer (2) which is subjected to a C-axis orientation and is applied over the entire surface of the respective fork leg (1a, 1b) in a thickness between 5 to 150 microns in order to achieve a uniform temperature behaviour of the fork legs, and, in addition, the said tuning fork has an electrode (16) which is supplied to this piece of electric crystal layer. Furthermore, the tuning fork has supporting elements (13A, 14A, 15) which are attached to the tuning fork oscillator at its two oscillation nodes or in their immediate vicinity on one of the surfaces located in the direction of oscillation of the tuning fork oscillator. <IMAGE>
