REVENDICATIONS

CLAIMS
1. Lamp consisting of a support and a fluorescent cylindrical tube, characterized in that the tube comprises at each of its ends a connection plug mounted on the peripheral surface of the tube in coincidence with a complementary socket integral with said support.
2. Lamp according to claim 1, characterized in that each connection plug comprises an insulating block in which are mounted two parallel metal pins, arranged in directions perpendicular to the axis of the tube.
3. Lamp according to claim 2, characterized in that the metal pins are arranged in a transverse plane relative to the longitudinal direction of the tube.
4. Lamp according to claim 2, characterized in that the metal pins are arranged in a plane containing the longitudinal axis of the tube.
5. Lamp according to claim 2, characterized in that the insulating block is mounted on the rear face of the tube, or on the face located opposite said support.
The present invention relates to a lamp consisting of a support and a fluorescent cylindrical tube.
Known fluorescent lamps generally comprise a fluorescent tube, for example a neon tube, composed of a translucent glass cylinder closed at its ends by two metal caps on which are mounted two connecting pins oriented in directions parallel to the axis of the tube. These caps which cover the ends of the tube have the drawback of making said ends opaque and of creating shadow areas which are particularly visible and annoying when a series of tubes is placed in line. In this case, the lighting obtained is not uniform because the illuminated zones are interspersed with shadow zones.
The present invention proposes to remedy these drawbacks by producing a tube in which the shadows usually visible at the ends of the tube are completely eliminated.
For this purpose, the lamp according to the invention is characterized in that the tube comprises at each of its ends a connection plug mounted on the peripheral surface of the tube in coincidence with a complementary socket secured to said support.
The present invention will be better understood with reference to the description of an embodiment and the accompanying drawing in which
FIG. 1 represents a partial perspective view of a first embodiment of the lamp according to the invention, and
Figure 2 is a partial perspective view illustrating another embodiment of the connection plug mounted on the periphery of the fluorescent tube.
Referring to Figure 1, the lamp according to the invention essentially comprises a support 1 and a fluorescent tube 2 arranged to be fixed to said support. The tube 2 consists of a translucent glass cylinder 3 and comprises at each of its ends a connection plug 4. The plug 4 consists of an insulating block 5 of approximately parallelepiped shape whose lower surface 6 is adapted to the shape of the peripheral surface of the cylinder 3. The insulating block serves as a support for two parallel metal pins 7 and 8 which are connected to a filament 9 housed inside the tube 2.
The support 1 essentially consists of a metal cover 10 inside which is housed a bent piece 11 carrying the support 12 of a choke 13 as well as a socket 14 complementary to the plug 4. The socket 14 consists of an insulating block 15 partially hollow, and arranged to receive the insulating block 5 of the plug 4. In the insulating block 14 are housed two sockets 16 and 17 intended to receive the pins 7 and 8 of the plug 4, when the tube 2 is mounted on its support 1. The insulating block 15 of the socket 14 and the insulating block 5 of the plug 4 also have a locking device, for example a pawl 18, which makes it possible to block the plug 4 in the socket 14, and thereby ensure stable attachment of the tube 2 on the support 1.
Of course the other end of the tube 2 also includes an identical plug 4 which cooperates with a complementary socket 14 disposed at the other end of the support 1.
Referring to Figure 2, a fluorescent tube 21 has at each of its ends a connection plug 22 formed by an insulating block 23 in which are mounted two parallel metal pins 24 and 25. As before, the insulating block 23 is mounted on the rear face of the tube 21, so that they are not visible from the front. The two pins 24 and 25 are arranged in directions perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the tube 21. In the example of FIG. 1, the pins 7 and 8 are arranged in a plane transverse to the longitudinal axis of the tube . In the example represented by FIG. 2, the two pins 24 and 25 are arranged in a plane which passes through the longitudinal axis of the tube 21.
When the tubes described are mounted on the supports, the connection plugs are completely hidden so that they do not interfere with the emission of light from the side of the visible part of the tube. Consequently, this invention makes it possible to eliminate the shadow areas usually generated by known fluorescent tubes.
