la fig. 1 est une vue en élévation, partiellement coupée;
la fig. 2 est une vue en coupe par la ligne II-I1 de la fig. 1;

The installation of sanitary batteries often poses difficult problems for installers, especially when installing threaded connection pieces (sleeves, elbows, nipples, brackets, extensions, etc.) which must be screwed into piping elements drowned in the walls. This operation can only be carried out using tools holding the connection pieces from the inside, for example special keys. Unfortunately, these tools allow you to screw only tubular parts with an internal diameter determined for each tool, so that you must always have sets of tools in addition to traditional equipment. In addition, and to complicate the problem, these special tools can only be used for parts with a determined internal profile, for example tapped, ribbed, hexagon, etc.
The present invention relates to a tool for screwing and unscrewing threaded tubular parts of any kind, any internal profile and any diameter.
This tool is characterized by the fact that it comprises a body, concentric clamping jaws capable of moving radially relative to this body, and a mechanism transforming the movement of a clamping member into synchronized radial movements of the jaws, the everything so that after having introduced the jaws into the part to be screwed, tightened and locked these jaws against the interior surface of the part, it can be screwed by rotating the body of routil, then, the part being screwed, loosen and release the jaws and remove the tool.
The attached drawing shows, schematically and by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention, more specifically intended for screwing and unscrewing the parts provided for connecting sanitary batteries to the inlet pipes of 'water:
fig. 1 is an elevational view, partially cut away;
fig. 2 is a sectional view through line II-I1 of FIG. 1;
fig. 3 is a sectional view of a detail on a large scale by the line III-III of FIG. 1.
The tool shown comprises a cylindrical body 10, made of steel, having a bore in which a cylindrical block 11, also made of steel, can rotate, engaged by means of a spiral crown 12 cut in one of its end faces. , with three jaws 13 capable of sliding radially in radial grooves 14 milled at 1200 from one another in the corresponding face of the body 10. The other end face of the block 11 has a conical toothing 15 meshing with the corresponding conical toothing a pinion 16 mounted in the body 10 which can be rotated by means of a key 17. When the block 11 is rotated by the pinion 16, the jaws 13 move radially in synchronized hawk, in a one way or the other, depending on the direction of rotation.
The jaws 13 are intended to be introduced into the part to be screwed, in this case a nipple M to be screwed into an elbow C, then separated, tightened and locked against the internal surface of the tubular part so as to make it integral in rotation of the body 10. They comprise three stages of diameter decreasing towards their ends so as to cover a full range of internal diameters between 8 and 50 mm. The last stage, corresponding to small diameters, is constituted by semi-cylindrical extensions 18 of two of the three jaws 13 to present, during tightening, sufficient mechanical strength.
The tool shown also comprises a lever 19 making it possible to rotate the part when it has been made integral with the body 10 and to screw it into the elbow C. This lever 19 consists of a tubular handle mounted on the body 10 by the 'through a ratchet mechanism to work in a tight space.
This mechanism comprises a toothing 20 cut in the mantle of the body 10, a socket 21 rotatably mounted on the body 10 between a shoulder 22 and a threaded ring 23 screwed onto a corresponding threaded seat of the body 10, a pawl 24 formed by the end beveled with a piston 25 capable of sliding in the handle 19, a spring 26 resiliently holding the pawl 24 in engagement with the toothing 20. The piston 25 is integral with a finger 27 which can be engaged in one or the other of two buttonholes 28, diametrically opposed, formed in the base of the handle 19 and connected by a semi-circular opening 29. When the finger 27 is brought in, by slightly compressing the spring 26, in this opening, the pawl 24 is no longer engaged with the teeth 20.
The mechanism is therefore operating in one direction of rotation or the other, that is to say that the lever 19 drives the block 11 in one direction and not in the other and vice versa, depending on the angular position of the finger 27 .-It is thus possible, after having clamped and blocked the jaws 13 in the part to be screwed, and correctly placing the finger 27 in one of the two buttonholes 28, screw the part by imparting to the lever 19 an alternating angular movement which is transformed in an intermittent advance movement of the body 10 and the part.
When the part is screwed, it suffices to radially move the jaws 13 inwards by means of the key 17 to separate the part from the tool and release the latter.
It goes without saying that the tool described above can be used in the same way to unscrew parts.
Alternatively, the mechanism for moving the jaws 13 could be of a design different from that shown.
