3. Device according to claim 2, characterized in that the means for indicating the height consist of at least one rod fixed by one of its ends to the sleeve, the rod extending through the stirrup towards the upper edge of the net, and forming at the other of its ends an enlarged horizontal loop surrounding the strap and thus indicating the height of the net.
4. Device according to one of claims 2 or 3, characterized in that the rod further comprises means for adjusting its length.
The present invention relates to a device for adjusting and indicating the height of a tennis net, comprising a strap intended to pass over the middle of the net and means for hooking the ends of the strap arranged on vertically mobile means cooperating with vertically fixed means and connected to a hook intended to be hooked to a ring anchored in the ground, the vertically fixed and mobile means forming a tensioner.
No known device of this type comprises a simple and effective means making it possible to immediately indicate the correct height of the net when one acts on the adjustment device in order to tension the net and to adjust its height.
In addition, known devices tend to jam due to rust due to the weather, sand infiltration or lack of lubrication.
It is the object of the present invention to provide a device which overcomes these drawbacks.
The invention therefore relates to a device for adjusting the height of a net as defined in claim 1.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, embodiments of the device of the invention.
Fig. I partially represents a first embodiment of the device in vertical section in profile without the means for indicating the height.
Fig. 2 shows a second embodiment of the device in vertical section from the front.
Fig. 3 shows the means for indicating the associated height, forming part of the first embodiment of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is a view similar to FIG. 3, but showing his organs in another position.
Fig. 5 is a partial sectional view of a third embodiment.
Fig. 1 illustrates the arrangement of the adjustment device without representing the means for indicating the height. this to better illustrate the arrangement of the tensioner and vertically movable means. It includes for this purpose a strap 10 shown mixed entry intended to pass over the middle of the net. The two ends of this strap 10 are fixed to the two branches 11 and 12 of a stirrup
13 that has a tensioner 14. The ends of the strap 10 are fixed, for example, using a plate connected to each end of the strap and engaged in slides provided on the corresponding branch of the stirrup . This arrangement has not been shown in detail but schematically in phantom because it is part of the state of the art.
The stirrup 13 of the tensioner 14 carries at its upper part a central screw 15 extending vertically inside the stirrup 13. This screw 15 is welded to the top of the stirrup 14 as shown in 16.
A socket 17 passes through the base of the stirrup 13 through an opening 18 formed in this base and is screwed onto the screw 15.
A hook 19 is pivotally mounted on a cap 20 screwed onto the sleeve 17. For this purpose, the end of the rod 19 ′ of the hook 19 is threaded and passes through a larger diameter hole drilled centrally in the cap 20. A flange 21 of a piece with the rod 19 'abuts against the cap 20 and the threaded end of the rod 19' protruding inside the cap 20 carries a washer 22 and a nut 23 with lock nut 24 to allow the rod 19 'to rotate freely in the cap 20.
An empty space 25 is formed inside the socket 17 between the cap 20 and the threaded part of this socket, this space 25 serving to receive grease intended to lubricate the screw 15.
To adjust the height of the tennis net, the strap 10 is more or less stretched when it has been passed over the net and its ends have been hooked to the stirrup 13. For this purpose, the socket is rotated 17 in one direction and in the other by grasping the cap 20, so as to screw it more or less on the screw 15 and, thus, to exert a more or less great traction on the hook 19 hung on a ring fixed to the ground . Thanks to the mounting of the rod 19 'which can rotate freely in the cap 20, the hook 19 remains attached without turning in the fixed ring.
The device described has the advantage of being simple and economical to construct. On the other hand, thanks to the lubrication of the screw 15, it avoids the risk of blockage by rust when it is subjected to the weather. This tensioner is associated with the means for indicating the height of FIGS. 3 and 4.
Fig. 3 illustrates how the strap 10 cooperates with the loop 31 and the upper edge of the net represented by the cable 33. Rods 26 fixed to the stirrup 13 are disposed between the two parts of the strap 10 and emerge through openings 34 arranged in the strap 10 a short distance from the top of the strap 10. The strap 10 wraps the cable 33 of the tender net as well as the loop 31. Once the hook fixed to the ground, the rods 26 being integral with the socket 17, the loop 31 is fixed vertically and can therefore no longer vary in height. To adjust the height of the net, it suffices to act on the cap 22 which can make the device lengthen or shorten, thereby varying the height of the net, therefore of the cable 33, until it adjusts to the same height as the loop 31 always fixed.
Fig. 3 illustrates the position of the net adjusted to the correct height, and FIG. 4 represents a position of the thread that is too high relative to the indicator loop 31. To adjust the reference height represented by the loop 31 exactly and definitively, there is a screw 32 which clamps the rod 35 of the loop 31 to a determined height.
Fig. 2 illustrates a similar device but seen from the front, combined with a means for indicating the height. Thus, it also comprises a stirrup 13 carrying a central screw 15 cooperating with a socket 17, itself carrying the cap 22 connected to the hook. The internal vacuum 25 receives the grease intended for lubrication.
The height indication means is formed by two parallel rods 26 connected at the bottom to a circular ring 27 arranged between the rim 28 of the socket 17 and the cap 22. The ring 27 is freely arranged so that one can rotate the cap 22 and thus adjust the height without driving the ring 27. The two rods 26 pass through the stirrup 13 and slide freely in the conduits 29. The
ends of the rods 26 are fixed to a part 30 cooperating with a loop 31 adjustable in height by means of the screw 32.
Fig. 5 illustrates another embodiment of the device. A single rod 26 slides freely in a single conduit 29 disposed in the bracket 13. The lower end is welded or fixedly attached to a washer 36 freely arranged in a cavity 37 of the sleeve 17. A spring 38 holds the lower end of the rod 26 formed by the washer 36 in the cavity 37. The length of the rod 26 can also be adjusted by means of the screw 32 which can wedge or loosen the rod 26 and the extended part of the loop 31 by means of a suitable room 39.
Other means could be envisaged for fixing the lower end of the rod (s) 26, the only condition being that it is fixed to the vertically fixed part of the tensioner. One can therefore imagine that the rod is fixed directly to the hook or to the cap at the bottom of the socket. Nor is it necessary for the rod to pass through the stirrup, one could imagine that it simply bypasses the tensioner and that above it is introduced between the two parts of the strap to come out towards the top.
