Description
Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von aliphatischen Äthern der allgemeinen Formel in der Rt eine durch Hydrolyse oder Hydrogenolyse in die Hydroxygruppe überführbare Äthergruppe darstellt, und die punktierte Linie gegebenfalls eine zusätzliche Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Bindung bezeichnet.
Als Beispiele für die Äthergruppe Rj können genannt werden: der 4-Methyl-5,6-dihydro-2H-pyranyloxyrest, der Benzyl-oxyrest, der Benzhydryloxyrest, der Trityloxyrest, ein a-nie-der-Alkoxy-nieder-Alkoxyrest, wie der Methoxy-methoxyrest; ferner der Allyloxyrest sowie ein Trialkyl-silyloxyrest, wie der Trimethyl-silyloxyrest und des weiteren der tert.-Butyloxyrest.
Die erwähnte hydrolytische Umwandlung des Ätherrestes Rt in die Hydroxygruppe kann in konventioneller Weise durch Behandeln mit starken oder schwachen organischen oder anorganischen Säuren, z. B. mit niederen Alkancarbonsäuren, wie z. B. Essigsäure oder Trifluoressigsäure; mit Arylsulfon-säuren, z. B. mit p-Toluolsulfonsäure; oder mit Mineralsäuren,

z. B. mit Schwefelsäure, oder einer Halogenwasserstoffsäure durchgeführt werden. Die säurekatalysierte Hydrolyse kann in wässrigem Milieu oder in einem organischen Lösungsmittel durchgeführt werden. Wird eine organische Säure verwendet, so kann diese selbst als Lösungsmittel fungieren. Der tert.-Bu-tyloxyrest wird im allgemeinen in Gegenwart einer organischen Säure, die selbst als Lösungsmittel wirkt, hydrolysiert. Der Te-trahydropyranyloxyrest wird gemeinhin in wässrigem Milieu verseift.
Temperatur und Druck sind nicht kritisch. Die Hydrolyse kann ohne weiteres bei Raumtemperatur und Normaldruck durchgeführt werden.
Bevorzugte hydrolytisch abspaltbare Ätherreste sind der tert.-Butyloxyrest sowie der Tetrahydropyranyloxyrest.
Die hydrogenolytische Umwandlung des Ätherrestes in die Hydroxygruppe kann mit Hilfe eines der gemeinhin verwendbaren Hydrierungskatalysatoren, z. B. mit Hilfe von Palladium oder Platin erfolgen. Die Hydrogenolyse kann unter den gemeinhin bekannten Bedingungen durchgeführt werden.
Bevorzugte hydrogenolytisch abspaltbare Ätherreste sind die Aryl-methyloxyreste, insbesondere der Benzyloxyrest.
Die durch Hydrolyse oder Hydrogenolyse aus den Äthern der Formel I erhältlichen Alkohole stellen wichtige Ausgangsverbindungen für die Herstellung von Vitamin E und dessen Derivaten dar.

Die Gruppe A und B in den Verbindungen der Formeln III und IV bezeichnen entweder eine -MgX-Gruppe oder eine austretende Gruppe Y. X stellt ein Halogenatom dar, und Y bezeichnet einen als austretende Gruppe verwendbaren Rest, z. B. einen Alkylsulfonyloxy-, wie Methylsulfonyloxy-, oder einen Arylsulfonyloxy-, wie p-Toluolsulfonyloxy- oder Naph-thylsulfonyloxy-rest.
Die Verknüpfung der Verbindungen III und IV zu den Äthern der Formel I führt, im Gegensatz zu den bisher verwendeten Verfahren, bei denen ein Aldehyd mit einer Grignard-oder Lithiumverbindung zunächst zu einem Dehydroderivat kondensieren, welches nachträglich durch Hydrieren in das gewünschte Endprodukt umgewandelt werden muss, unmittelbar zu dem gewünschten Äther der Formel I.

Die Verknüpfungsreaktion wird in einem inerten organischen Lösungsmittel, z. B. in Tetrahydrofuran, Dioxan, Di-äthyläther, Dimethoxyäthan oder in Diäthylenglykoldimethyl-äther, und in Gegenwart eines Di-(alkalimetall)-tetrahalogen-kuprats, von denen das Di-lithium-tetrachlorkuprat bevorzugt ist, durchgeführt.
Temperatur und Druck können bei dieser Reaktion in weiten Grenzen gehalten werden. Man arbeitet zweckmässig bei Raumtemperatur und Normaldruck.
Die Kondensationskomponenten der Formeln III und IV, in denen A oder B eine —MgX-Gruppe darstellt, können in an sich bekannter Weise z. B. dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man die entsprechenden Alkohole in ein Halogenid überführt und in einem Äther, zweckmässig in Tetrahydrofuran, bei erhöhter Temperatur, z. B. in einem Temperaturbereich zwischen 40 und 80°C, mit metallischem Magnesium behandelt.
Die Kondensationskomponenten der Formeln III und IV, in denen A oder B eine austretende Gruppe Y darstellt, können in an sich bekannter Weise z. B. dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man die entsprechenden Alkohole in der Kälte, bei etwa 0°, mit einer die austretende Gruppe X bildenden Verbindung z. B. mit einem Alkyl- oder Aryl-sulfonylhalogenid, wie Methansulfonylchlorid oder p-Toluolsulfonylchlorid,umsetzt.

Die erfindungsgemäss herstellbaren Äther der Formel I können, wie eingangs beschrieben, in den sogenannten C14-Alkohol umgewandelt werden, welcher nach Überführung in ein Halogenid, insbesondere in das Bromid, wie im Anwendungsbeispiel 4 beschrieben, mit 6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8- tetra-methyl-chroman-2-äthyl-methansulfonat in Gegenwart von Di-Iithium-tetrachlorkuprat zu a-Tocopherol umgesetzt werden kann.
Beispiel 1
7 ml einer Lösung von (S)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-l-propyl-magnesiumbromid — hergestellt aus 3,34 g (S)-(+)-3-tert.-butoxy-2-methyl-l-brompropan und 0,42g Magnesiumpulver in 14 ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran — werden unter Rühren bei -78°C in eine Lösung von 2g (R)-(+)-3,7- Dime-thyl-l-octyl-p-toluolsulfonat in 6ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran eingetragen. Das Gemisch wird nach Zusatz von 3,3 ml einer 0,lmolaren Lösung von Di-lithium-tetrachlorkuprat [LÌ2CUCI4] in wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran zunächst 10 Minuten bei -78 °C, danach 2 Stunden bei 0° und anschliessend 16,5 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, darauf mit In wässeriger Schwefelsäure geschüttelt und mit Äther extrahiert. Das aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte ölige l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6,10-trimethylundecan wird durch Adsorption an Silicagel [Elutionsmittel: Hexan/Äther 49:1] gereinigt. Der reine Äther, ein farbloses Öl, siedet bei 75-80° C/0,05 Torr, [a]D2S= + 1,29° (c = 2,01 in Hexan).
Das in Beispiel 1 eingesetzte (S)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-me-thyl-l-propyl-magnesiumbromid kann z. B. wie folgt hergestellt werden:
la) 8,7g (S)-(+)-/3-hydroxyisobuttersäure werden in 140 ml Methylenchlorid gelöst. Die Lösung wird nach Zugabe von 70 ml flüssigem Isobutylen bei -72° C unter Rühren zunächst mit 1,6 ml einer Lösung von phosphoriger Säure — hergestellt aus 5 g Phosphorpentaoxyd in 11 ml Phosphorsäure [85

Gew.%) — in 10 ml Methylenchlorid und danach tropfenweise mit 3,5ml Bortrifluoridätherat versetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird 2 Stunden bei -12° C, danach 20 Stunden bei 0-5° C gerührt und anschliessend in 300g Eis/Wasser eingetragen. Die sich nach Zugabe von 10g Natriumhydrogencarbonat in 200ml Wasser abscheidende Methylenchloridphasè wird abgetrennt. Die wässerige Phase wird mit Methylenchlorid extrahiert. Die vereinigten Extrakte werden mit Kochsalz-Wasser gewaschen, über Magnesiumsulfat getrocknet und unter vermindertem Druck eingedampft. Der zurückbleibende (S)-(+)-3-tert.-But-oxy-2-methyl-propionsäure-tert.-butylester wird durch Adsorption aus 200g Silicagel [Elutionsmittel: Hexan/Äther 19:1 und 9:1] gereinigt. Der reine Ester, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 99° C/22 Torr; [a]D25 = +19,52° (c = 4,25 in Methanol).
lb) 31,9g (S)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-propionsäure-tert.-butylester in 470ml wasserfreiem Äther werden im Verlauf von 70 Minuten unter Aussenkühlung mit Eis in ein Gemisch von 11,2g Lithiumaluminiumhydrid in 470ml wasserfreiem Diäthyläther eingetropft. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird 30 Minuten bei 0-5° C, danach 3 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, anschliessend tropfenweise mit 22,4 ml Wasser und 17,9 ml einer 10gew.%igen wässerigen Lösung von Natriumhydroxyd versetzt und 16 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur weitergerührt. Die sich abscheidenden Feststoffe werden abgetrennt und mit Äther gewaschen. Das mit dem Waschäther vereinigte Filtrat wird eingedampft. Das zurückbleibende (R)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-l-propanol, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 76° C/13 Torr; [a]D25 = + 0,47° (c = 4,06 in Methanol).
lc) 25,8g (R)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyI-l-propanol werden mit 50,5 g Triphenylphosphin in 105 ml Methylenchlorid gelöst. Die Lösung wird unter Rühren nach und nach mit 32,8 g N-Bromsuccinimid versetzt. Die Innentemperatur wird dabei durch Aussenkühlung auf 30° C gehalten. Nach lstün-digem Rühren wird zunächst das Lösungsmittel, danach das Reaktionsprodukt über eine Rektifikationskolonne abdestilliert. Das erhaltene (S)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2- methyl-1-brom-propan wird durch Adsorption an 450 g Silicagel gereinigt. Das reine Bromid, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 71° C/l Torr; [a]D25 = +23,32° (c = 4,23 in Hexan).
Das Bromid wird durch Umsetzen mit Magnesiumpulver in das Magnesiumbromid übergeführt.
Das in Beispiel 1 als Kondensationskomponente eingesetzte (R)-(+)-3,7-Dimethyl-l-octyl-p-toluolsulfonat kann z. B. dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man Dihydrocitronellol mit einem p-Toluol-sulfonylhalogenid, vornehmlich mit p-To-luolsulfonylchlorid umsetzt.
Beispiel 2
2,33 g Magnesiumpulver und einige Jodkristalle in 23 ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran werden unter Rühren im Verlauf 1 Stunde tropfenweise mit einer Lösung von 17,9 g (R)-(-)-l- Brom-3,7-dimethyl-octan in 51ml trockenem Tetrahydrofuran versetzt und unter Rückflussbedingungen zum Sieden erhitzt und nach 1 Stunde auf Raumtemperatur gekühlt. Die erhaltene Lösung von (R)-3,7-Dimethyl-l-octyl-magnesiumbromid wird anschliessend bei -78° C tropfenweise in eine Lösung von 19,5g (S)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-1-propyl-p-toluolsulfonat in 56 ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran eingetragen. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird auf —78° C gekühlt und nach Zugabe von 3,3 ml einer 0,lmolaren Lösung von Di-lithium-tetrachlorkuprat [Li2CuCl4] in wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran zunächst 10 Minuten bei —78° C, danach 2 Stunden bei 0—5°C und anschliessend 18 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, darauf mit In wässeriger Schwefelsäure geschüttelt, und mit Äther extrahiert. Das aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte ölige 2(R),6(R)-(+)-l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6,10- tri-
methyl-undecan wird durch Adsorption an Silicagel [Elutionsmittel: Hexan/Äther 19:1] gereinigt. Der reine Äther, ein farbloses öl, siedet bei 91-95°C/0,3 Torr; [ct]D25 = +0,94° (c = 2,01 in Hexan).
Das in Beispiel 2 eingesetzte (R)-3,7-Dimethyl-l-octylma-gnesiumbromid kann z. B. dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man Dihydrocitronellol bromiert und mit Magnesiumpulver umsetzt.
Die Grignard-Verbindung kann jedoch auch wie folgt synthetisiert werden:
2a) 23,1g (S)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-3-brom- pro-pan, 11,07g Natriumcyanid, 144ml Methanol und 36ml Wasser werden unter Rühren 17 Stunden unter Rückflussbedingungen zum Sieden erhitzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird danach gekühlt, mit Wasser verdünnt und mit Methylenchlorid extrahiert. Das aus dem Extrakt isolierte (R)-(+)-4-tert.-But-oxy-3-methyl-buttersäurenitril wird durch Adsorption an 500g Silicagel [Elutionsmittel: Hexan/Äther 9:1 und 4:1] gereinigt. Das reine Nitrii, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 88-90°/ll Torr; [ccD25 = + 7,41° (c = 1,8 in Hexan).
2b) 4,18g (R)-(+)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyl-buttersäureni-tril werden in 250 ml Hexan gelöst. Die Lösung wird bei -70° C unter Rühren tropfenweise mit 19,4 ml einer 25 %igen Lösung von Diisobutylaluminiumhydrid in Toluol versetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird zunächst 30 Minuten bei —70°, danach 4 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, anschliessend nacheinander mit 2,5 ml Essigsäureäthylester und wässerigem Ammoniumchlorid versetzt und darauf in In wässerige Schwefelsäure eingetragen. Die organische Phase wird abgetrennt. Die wässerige Phase wird mit Äther extrahiert. Die vereinigten organischen Phasen werden nacheinander mit einer Natriumhydrogencarbonat- und einer Kochsalzlösung gewaschen, getrocknet und eingedampft. Das zurückbleibende (R)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyI-butan-l-al, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 81-85° C/ll Torr.
2c) 2,67 g Isobutyl-triphenylphosphoniumjodid werden in 50ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran gelöst. Die Lösung wird bei 0° C unter Rühren tropfenweise mit 2,94ml einer 2,04mo-laren Lösung von Butyllithium in Hexan versetzt. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird zunächst 15 Minuten und nach Zugabe von 0,475g (R)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyl-butan-l-al in 25ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran 1 Stunde bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, danach in eine wässerige Ammoniumchloridlösung eingetragen und mit Hexan extrahiert. Das aus dem Extrakt isolierte (R)-(+)-l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6-dimethyl-hept-4-en, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 75-80° C/10 Torr; [a]D25 = +11,44° (c = 0,61 in Hexan).
2d) 1,7g (R)-l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6-dimethyl-hept-4-en werden in 100 ml Essigsäureäthylester gelöst. Die Lösung wird mit Hilfe von 0,5g Palladium-Kohle [5:95] hydriert. Der Katalysator wird nach Beenden der Wasserstoff auf nähme abgetrennt. Das Filtrat wird unter vermindertem Druck eingedampft. Das zurückbleibende (R)-(+)-l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6- dimethyl-hep-tan, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 82-85° C/10 Torr.
2e) Das erhaltene (R)-(+)-l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6-dimethyl-heptan wird in der Kälte tropfenweise mit Trifluoressigsäure versetzt. Die Reaktionslösung wird 4 Stunden bei 0° gerührt, danach auf Eis gegossen, und nach Zugabe von 10%iger wässeriger Natronlauge mit Äther extrahiert. Das aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte (R)-(+)-2,6-Dimethyl-heptan-l-ol, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 92-95° C/l 6 Torr; [a]D25 = + 10,14° (c = 2,01 in Hexan).
2f) Das erhaltene (R)-(+)-2,6-Dimethyl-heptan-l-ol wird, wie in Beispiel lc beschrieben, mit N-Bromsuccinimid und Triphenylphosphin behandelt. Das erhaltene (R)-l-Brom-2,6-dimethyl-heptan, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 90-92° C; [«1D25 = +0,48° (c = 5,17 in Hexan).

2g) Das erhaltene (R)-(+)-l-Brom-2,6-dimethyl-heptan wird durch Behandeln mit Natriumcyanid in wässerigem Methanol in das (R)-(-)-3,7-Dimethyl-octan-nitril umgewandelt, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, das bei 106—108° C/20 Torr siedet; [ö]d25 = -3,51° (c = 2,08 in Hexan).
2h) 3,35g (R)-3,7-Dimethyl-octan-nitril und 10g Kaliumhydroxyd werden 90ml Äthylenglykol/Wasser [90:10] gelöst. Die Lösung wird 3 Stunden unter Rückflussbedingungen zum Sieden erhitzt, danach gekühlt, mit 3n wässeriger Salzsäure angesäuert und mit Äther extrahiert. Die aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte (R)-(+)-Dihydrocitronellinsäure siedet bei 88-91 °C/0,25 Torr; [u]D25 = +7,25° (c = 5 in Chloroform).
2i) Die erhaltene R-(+)-Dihydrocitronellinsäure wird, wie in Beispiel lb beschrieben, mit Hilfe von Lithiumaluminiumhydrid zu Dihydrocitronellol reduziert, in das Bromid umgewandelt und durch Umsetzen mit Magnesiumpulver in das (R)-3,7-Dimethyl-l-octyl-magnesiumbromid übergeführt.
Das in Beispiel 2 als Kondensationskomponente eingesetzte (S)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-l-propyl-p-toluolsul-fonat kann z. B. dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man das in Beispiel 1 beschriebene (R)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy- 2-methyl-l-propanol mit einem p-Toluol-sulfonylhalogenid, vornehmlich mit p-Toluol-sulfonylchlorid umsetzt. Das erhaltene (S)-(+)-3-tert.-Butoxy-2-methyl-l -propyl-p-toluolsulfonat ist eine farblose Flüssigkeit; [a]D2S = +8,18° (c = 4,22 in Hexan).
Beispiel 3
In analoger Weise zu Beispiel 2 erhält man durch Umsetzen von (R)-2,6-Dimethyl-l-heptyl-magnesiumbromid mit (R) - (+) -4-tert.-Butoxy-3 -methyl-1 -butyl-p-toluolsulfonat das 2(R),6(R)-(+)-l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6,10-trimethyl-undecan; Siedepunkt 90° C/0,1 Torr.
Das in Beispiel 3 eingesetzte (R)-2,6-Dimethyl-l-heptyl-magnesiumbromid kann durch Umsetzen der in Beispiel 2f beschriebenen (R)-l-Brom-2,6-dimethyl-heptan mit Magnesiumpulver hergestellt werden.
Das in Beispiel 3 als Kondensationskomponente eingesetzte (R)-(+)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyl-l-butyl-p-toluolsulfo-nat kann z. B. ausgehend von dem in Beispiel 2a) beschriebenen (R)-(+)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyl-buttersäurenitril wie folgt hergestellt werden:
3a) 5,0g (R)-(+)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyI-buttersäurenitriI werden in 200 ml einer 10%igen wässrige Kaliumhydroxydlösung gelöst. Die Lösung wird unter Rückflussbedingungen 16 Stunden zum Sieden erhitzt, danach in einem Eisbad mit 6n wässeriger Salzsäure angesäuert und mit Äther extrahiert. Die aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte (R)-(+)- 4-tert.-Butoxy-3-me-thyl-buttersäure wird durch Adsorption an 150g Silicagel [Elutionsmittel: Äther/Hexan 4,:1 und 2:1] gereinigt. Die reine Säure ist ein farbloses Öl. [a]D25 = +11,02° (c =1,997 in Hexan).
3,45 g (R)-(+)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyl-buttersäure werden in 50ml Äther gelöst. Die Lösung wird unter Rühren und Kühlen in ein Gemisch von 1,51 g Lithiumaluminiumhydrid und 50 ml Äther eingetropft. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird 2 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt, danach bei 0° mit 5,4 ml einer gesättigten, wässerigen Natriumsulfatlösung versetzt, 18 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt und anschliessend filtriert. Das Filtrat wird unter vermindertem Druck eingedampft. Das zurückbleibende (R)-(+)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-me-thyl-butan-l-ol wird durch Adsorption an 100 g Silicagel [Elutionsmittel: Hexan/Äther 2:1,1:1 und 1:2] gereinigt. Der reine Alkohol, eine farblose Flüssigkeit, siedet bei 100-102° C/20 Torr; [a]D25 = +12,79° (c= 2,19 in Hexan).
Das erhaltene (R)-4-tert.-Butoxy-3-methyl-butan-l-ol wird anschliessend mit einem p-Toluol-sulfonylhalogenid, vornehmlich mit p-Toluolsulfonylchlorid zu (R)-(+)-4-tert.-But-oxy-3-methyl-l-butyl-p-toluolsulfonat umgesetzt.
Anwendungsbeispiel 4
0,216 g Magnesiumpulver und ein Jodkristall in 2,1 ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran werden unter Rühren tropfenweise mit einem Teil einer Lösung von 2,07g (2R,6R)- (-)-l-Brom-2,6,10-trimethyl-undecan in 4,9ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran versetzt und unter Rückflussbedingungen zum Sieden erhitzt. Bei Einsetzen der Reaktion wird der Rest der Bromverbindung zugegeben. Das Gemisch wird 1 Stunde gerührt und danach auf Raumtemperatur gekühlt. Die Lösung, welche (2R,6R)-(—)-2,6,10-Trimethyl-undec-1 -yl-magnesium-bromid enthält, wird tropfenweise unter Rühren in ein Gemisch von 2,4 g (S)-(-)-6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-chroman-2-äthyi-methansuIfonat und 4,7ml wasserfreiem Tetrahydrofuran eingetragen. Das Reaktionsgemisch wird auf —72° C gekühlt und nach Zugabe von 0,27 ml einer 0,lmola-ren Lösung von Di-lithium-tetrachlorkuprat [Li2CuCI4] in Tetrahydrofuran zunächst 10 Minuten bei —12° C, danach 2 Stunden bei 0° und anschliessend 24 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur gerührt. Das Gemisch wird danach mit In wässeriger Schwefelsäure geschüttelt und mit Äther extrahiert. Das aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte gelbe Öl (3,6 g) wird durch Adsorption an 200 g Silicagel [Eluationsmittel: Hexan] gereinigt. Der erhaltene (2R,4'R,8'R)-a- Tocopherol-benzyläther zeigt einen Drehwert von [a]D25 = + 0,72°, (c = 0,185 in Hexan).
Das in Beispiel 4 als Ausgangssubstanz eingesetzte (2R,6R)-(—)-l-Brom-2,6,10-trimethyl-undecan kann z. B. dadurch hergestellt werden, dass man das 2(R),6(R)-Isomere des gemäss Beispiel 1 erfindungsgemäss anfallenden diastereome-ren Gemisches von l-tert.-Butoxy-2,6,10-trimethylundecan, wie eingangs beschrieben, hydrolysiert und das erhaltene (2R,6R)-(—)-2,6,10-Trimethyl-undecan-l-ol bromiert.
Das in Beispiel 4 als Kondensationskomponente eingesetzte (S)-(—)-6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-chroman-2-äthyl-methansulfonat kann z. B. wie folgt hergestellt werden:
Eine 70 %ige Lösung von Natrium-bis-(2-methoxyätho-xy)-aluminiumhydrid in 35 ml Benzol wird unter Rühren in einem Eisbad tropfenweise mit einer Lösung von 20,55 g (S)-(—)- 6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-chroman-2-essigsäu-remethylester in 50 ml Benzol versetzt und 80 Minuten bei 20° C gerührt. Die entstehende Lösung wird 2 Stunden bei Raumtemperatur weitergerührt, danach in ein Gemisch von Eis und In wässeriger Natronlauge eingetragen und mit Äther extrahiert. Das aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte viskose farblose Öl wird in Petroläther [Siedebereich: 30-60°] aufgenommen. Das ausfallende (S)-(—)-6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8- tetra-methyl-chroman-2-äthanol schmilzt bei 55-56° C. [aD25: -16,21° (c = 2,03 in Chloroform).
0,5g (S)-(-)-6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-chroman-2-äthanol und 0,25 ml Methansulfonylchlorid werden in 5 ml wasserfreiem Pyridin gelöst. Die Lösung wird 45 Stunden bei 0° gehalten, danach in 100 ml Eiswasser eingetragen und nach 15 Minuten mit Äther extrahiert. Das aus dem Ätherextrakt isolierte (S)-6-Benzyloxy-2,5,7,8-tetramethyl-chroman-2-äthyl-methansulfonat schmilzt bei 81-83° C, [a]D25: -0,36° (c = 0,82 in Hexan).

PATENTANSPRÜCHE 1. Verfahren zur Herstellung von aliphatischen Äthern der allgemeinen Formel
Rn in der Rj eine durch Hydrolyse oder Hydrogenolyse in die Hydroxygruppe überführbare Äthergruppe darstellt, und die punktierte Linie gegebenfalls eine zusätzliche Kohlenstoff-Kohlenstoff-Bindung bezeichnet, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man in Gegenwart eines inerten organischen Lösungsmittels eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel in denen Rt die oben gegebene Bedeutung hat; eines der Symbole A und B eine -MgX-Gruppe und das andere eine Gruppe Y Gedeutet; worin X ein Halogenatom und Y eine austretende Gruppe bezeichnet; m = 0 und n = 1 oder m = 1 und n = 0 sind, mit Hilfe eines Di-(alkalimetall)-tetrahalogenkuprats umsetzt, und dass man die im Kondensationsprodukt vorhandene Zweifachbindung zur Einfachbindung hydriert.

8. Verfahren nach Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Umsetzung in Tetrahydrofuran, Dioxan oder Diäthyläther durchführt.
9. Verfahren nach Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man die Umsetzung einer Verbindung der Formel III mit einer Verbindung der Formel IVe mit Hilfe von Dilithium-tetrachlorkuprat durchführt.
3. Verfahren nach Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass man eine Verbindung der allgemeinen Formel
