CLAIM
Non-magnetic anti-personnel war mine, intended to be sown manually or mechanically and comprising a body (1) of plastic material, the upper part of which is closed by a cap (2) of elastic material to constitute an air chamber with volume and pressure variable, and the lower part of which is closed by a bottom and constitutes a cylindrical chamber containing the device for securing and releasing the firing pin (24), the detonator (28) and the explosive charge (7), said body being pierced with a central hole in which is housed the striker (8, 9) and a side hole in which is housed a membrane (17) in the form of a bag, said membrane being retained in the body of the mine by a ring of clamp (18) which rests on a first disc (19) pierced with an eccentric hole (20) and having, in its lower face,
a labyrinth (21) connecting the eccentric hole (20) with the central hole (22) of a second disc (23) ensuring the seal between the first disc (19) and the bag-shaped membrane (17), the firing pin safety and release device consisting of a lever with two arms (24) balanced with respect to its center of rotation, one of which bears against the bag-shaped membrane (17) and the other of which is subjected to the force of a spring (25), the whole being arranged so that, when a determined pressure is exerted on the cap (2), it causes the compression of a spring (16) acting on the striker (8, 9) and increasing the pressure in the air chamber, so that the bag-shaped membrane (17) inflates and causes rotation of the firing pin safety and release device (24) ( 8, 9) to cause the mine to explode,
characterized in that the sleeve (10) for guiding the striker (8) is pierced with two diametrically opposed holes (34) in which are housed two balls (35) which retain the striker (8), in that the central part of the two-arm lever (24) is provided with a tubular portion (37) in which two diametrically opposed grooves (38) are made and which, in the safety position of the mine, are offset with respect to the balls (35), and in that a cap of elastic material (15) constituting a dividing wall between the air chamber and the lower part of the mine and serving as a housing for the spring acting on the striker is pierced with a central hole (36 ).
The main patent relates to a non-magnetic anti-personnel war mine, intended to be sown manually or mechanically, for example by land or air means, and comprising a plastic body, the upper part of which is closed by a cap of elastic material to constitute an air chamber with variable volume and pressure, and the lower part of which is closed by a bottom and constitutes a cylindrical chamber containing the device for securing and releasing the firing pin, the detonator and the explosive charge, said body being pierced a central hole in which the striker is housed and a side hole in which a bag-shaped membrane is housed, the striker being guided in a socket provided with two diametrically opposed ribs which engage in two grooves provided in the body of the firing pin,
said membrane being retained in the body of the mine by a clamping ring which rests on a first disc pierced with an eccentric hole and having, in its lower face, a labyrinth connecting the eccentric hole with the central hole of a second disc ensuring the seal between the first disc and the bag-shaped membrane, the firing pin safety and release device being formed by a lever with two arms balanced with respect to its center of rotation, one of which takes bearing against the bag-shaped membrane, the other of which is subjected to the force of a spring and the central part of which has two ribs which, in the safety position, are offset with respect to the grooves of the striker, the whole being arranged so that, when a determined pressure is exerted on the cap,
it causes the compression of a spring acting on the striker and the increase of the pressure in the air chamber, so that the bag-shaped membrane inflates and causes the rotation of the safety device and release of the striker to bring the ribs opposite the grooves and cause the mine to explode.
It has been observed, in practice, that the load which makes the mine operate is not equal to the theoretical load and even different, due to the fact that friction exists in the safety device and release of the striker, even for pressures different in the two rooms.
The object of the present invention is to remedy these drawbacks and the mine which is the subject thereof is characterized in that the guide sleeve of the striker is pierced with two diametrically opposed holes, in which are housed two balls which retain the striker, in that the central part of the lever with two arms is provided with a tubular portion in which two diametrically opposed grooves are made and which, in the safety position, are offset with respect to the balls and in that a cap made of elastic material constituting a partition wall between the air chamber and the lower part of the mine and serving as a housing for the spring acting on the striker is pierced with a central hole.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the mine object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view of the firing pin safety and release device in the secure position.
Fig. 2 is a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1.
Fig. 3 is a view similar to that of FIG. 1, said device being in the operating position.
Fig. 4 is a section taken along line IV-IV of FIG. 3.
The mine shown comprises, as in the main patent, on the one hand, an upper part formed of a body 1 of plastic material which constitutes, with a cap 2 of elastic material which surmounts it and which carries, in its center, a reinforcement disc 3, an air chamber with variable volume and pressure, due to the fact that these two parts are hermetically closed by a clamping ring 4 and, on the other hand, a lower plastic part which forms, with a bottom (not shown), a cylindrical chamber sealed by a gasket (not shown) and containing the detonator 28 and the explosive charge 7. In the central hole of the body 1 is housed the striker 8 with percussion point 9.
Said striker is guided in the central hole by a sleeve 10 pierced with two diametrically opposed holes 34 and in which are housed two balls 35 which retain the striker 8, but which do not hamper its translation along the median axis of the mine when ' he is free. An appendage 13 which the sleeve 10 presents serves to position the latter relative to the body 1. In addition, the sleeve 10 is retained in the appropriate position by a clamping ring 14 and by a cap of elastic material 15 which constitutes, of on the other hand, the housing of a spring 16 acting on the striker 8 and a separation wall between the upper and lower parts of the body 1 of the mine. Said membrane 15 is pierced with a central hole 36 which, in the rest position of the mine, allows the passage of air between the upper chamber and the lower chamber.
On the other hand, when the cap 2 is compressed (FIG. 3), the disc 3 closes the central hole 36 and prevents the passage of air between the two chambers.
The side hole of body 1 contains a cylindrical membrane
that in the form of a bag 17, retained by a clamping ring 18 which also serves as a retaining member of a first disc 19 pierced with a hole 20 and machined, in its underside, so as to form a labyrinth 21 for air entering the bag-shaped membrane 17 through the hole 22 of a second disc 23 resting against the edge of said membrane which in turn ensures the seal between the upper and lower body parts 1 of the mine.
In the center of the lower part of the body 1 is housed, as an extension of the central hole, the firing pin safety and release device consisting of a lever with two arms 24 which is perfectly balanced and retained, in its safety position, by a spring with coil 25. The central part of the lever with two arms 24 is provided with a tubular portion 37 in which two diametrically opposed grooves 38 are made.
An intermediate piece 29 separates the explosive charge 7 from the firing pin safety and release device.
The rest of the mine is constructed as described in the main patent.
When the cap 2 is subjected to a determined pressure, it causes a double action: the compression of the spring 16 and the increase of the pressure in the air chamber. The spring 16 exerts its action on the striker 8, but the latter cannot move, thanks to the safety and release device of the striker, as long as the bag-shaped membrane 17 has not inflated. When the latter, under the effect of the pressure in the air chamber and after the air has passed through the labyrinth 21, inflates, its expansion forces the safety device and release of the firing pin and against the force of the spring 25, to pivot relative to the sleeve 10 and to bring the grooves 38 of the tubular portion 37 of the two-arm lever 24 opposite the balls 35 which hold the striker 8.
In this position, the striker 8 is driven by the spring 16 downwards and its point 9 strikes the detonator 28 and detonates the charge 7.
