Abstract
The non rotating explosive device such as a rocket or mortar has a clockwork drive to operate the striker pin to explode the percussion charge. A rotating member sets the time of operation, a set of gears and an escapement also being included. A set of safety devices prevent premature operation, and includes two actuator cams and a sloping member (8c) to control these devices and forming part of a rotating assembly (8). These cams include rectangular cut-outs on the edge of a dise which allow a striker pin (20) to be forced into the percussion charge after a given rotation. This is operated by a release arm (14) mounted on a spindle parallel to the striker pin. The rotating assembly includes a retaining collar on one of the cams to block the striker pin in a safe position for transport and storage.
