sera soumise à la friction directe de la charge;
la fig. 2 est une vue partielle en coupe longitudinale montrant un broyeur et sa cloison de sortie selon l'état de la technique;
la fig. 3 est une vue partielle en coupe longitudinale montrant le dispositif selon l'invention;
3, I'élément collec
The subject of the present invention is a method for screening the grinding charge of a crusher, as well as a device intended for implementing this method.
The device is intended in particular for ball mills used for fine grinding, for example cement.
The mills involved generally divide the grinding into two stages, in independent mills or in a mill separated into two compartments. For the first stage of grinding, grinding devices between 110 and 50 mm are used, depending on the case. For the second stage of grinding, the balls are smaller; for some applications, the diameter of the balls can go down to 13 mm. For the second stage of crushing, it is advantageous to use a shielding producing a self-classification of the crushing devices, such as the shielding according to Belgian patent N "729390. With this type of shielding, the bodies are classified in order of decreasing magnitude of The inlet to the outlet of the crusher At the outlet end of the primary crusher, or between the first and the second crushing compartment in a two-chamber crusher, a lifting partition is provided.
This partition comprises an upstream wall provided with openings allowing the passage of the material which has undergone the primary crushing while preventing the passage of the crushing devices. Downstream, the partition is delimited by a solid wall with a discharge opening in the center. The upstream and downstream walls of the partition form a small chamber. The material sufficiently reduced by the primary grinding enters this chamber through the openings in the upstream wall. Lifters mounted between the upstream and downstream walls, during the rotation of the crusher, lift the material which has entered the partition and discharge it onto a truncated cone, the smallest base of which is oriented towards the outlet of the crusher. This truncated cone directs the material through the outlet orifice of the downstream wall. Such partitions are very common.
From the outlet, the material falls into the outlet journal of the mill, or into the second grinding chamber depending on whether the primary and secondary grinds are done in separate grinders or in a two-compartment grinder. The central truncated cone of the partition is often hollow, so as to provide a passage in the center of the partition for the purging air of the crusher. A grid prevents the entry of the grinding bodies into the central passage of the truncated cone. The outlet of the secondary crusher or the secondary crushing chamber is provided with a partition similar to that of the primary crushing. The device according to the invention is intended to improve the conditions of use of the latter partition.
Indeed, in large mills, forged balls have insufficient wear resistance. To reduce wear, more and more balls cast in special steels which have a greater resistance to wear are used. However, in small diameter cast balls, there is about 1% of gear with hidden defects, even in fillers from the best suppliers. Unhealthy balls break in the crusher. For example, in a 5.2 m mill there may be 7,106 16 mm balls for the secondary crushing; if 1% of the bodies break in half, that makes 14-104 pieces of cannonballs likely to mix with the charge. The armor being self-classifying, these broken bodies are directed towards the exit.
It can be considered that, in a crusher, the bodies can be used up to a diameter equal to half the diameter of the smallest body of the initial charge. It would not be economical to dispose of them first, as sunken bodies are expensive. The upstream wall of the outlet partition is provided with slots to allow the evacuation of the crushed material. The width of the slots increases with wear; therefore, if the bodies are to be retained up to half the diameter of the smallest body of the initial load, the smallest dimension of the slots must initially be less than half the diameter of the smallest body of the initial load. the load in new condition. In secondary grinding, the wear of the bodies is very low: in most cases, in the dry process, it takes nearly a year for a body to lose 1 mm in its diameter.
Bodies with defects mostly break before this time, that is to say when they still have practically their initial diameter. When a body breaks, it almost always divides into two unequal pieces, one of which has a protruding pouring stream; in the majority of cases one of the pieces will be unable to come out through a slit narrower than half the diameter of the body.
The upstream wall of the partitions is subjected to the friction of the grinding devices during the rotation of the crusher. To resist wear, it must be very thick. Depending on the metals used for its manufacture, it is given 40 to 65 mm thick. The passage openings are generally radial or circumferential slots.
Fig. I represents a partial section, perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the passage openings; it shows the detail of a typical passage opening: - the narrowest part of the slot has a very small thickness of
so as to reduce the risk of clogging; - downstream of the narrowest part, the opening widens
health so that everything that has passed the narrowed area is evacuated
easily; the narrowed part is set back from the upstream face of the wall,
to delay as much as possible the moment when the narrowed part
will be subjected to the direct friction of the load;
because from then on
openings widen as the wall collapses
cit and the openings then let out bodies which should
stay in the grinder; - between the narrowed part and the upstream face of the partition, the opening
ture widens to limit the possibilities of catching
grinding bodies.
The openings can be made in different ways, but the four conditions above must always be respected; in practice, all the satisfactory embodiments are close to what is shown in FIG. 1.
In fig. 1, there is also shown a whole ball and a broken ball in the opening. It can be seen that the flaring offers little possibility for the whole body to get stuck in the opening. On the contrary, the broken body easily gets stuck there with the pressure caused by the moving load.
As the armor classifies the broken bodies progressing towards the exit, they gather in the vicinity of the exit partition and get stuck in the openings of the latter. The material can no longer drain normally, heats up and accumulates in the crusher. Heating and excess material causes a re-agglomeration phenomenon which greatly reduces the efficiency of the mill. The crusher must be stopped periodically to clean the outlet wall. The crusher output fluctuates between a maximum at the time of cleaning and a minimum before the next cleaning. The cleaning of the openings of the partition is a laborious operation, expensive in manpower and which cannot be done without causing the progressive deterioration of the edges of the openings, which makes them more vulnerable to the sealing process.
The object of the present invention is to remedy this situation by means of a process for continuously screening the grinding charge in order to remove therefrom broken and worn bodies. This method can be implemented by means of a device which is also the subject of the invention.
The principle of the invention is based on the fact that, if the grille which partially blocks the air passage in the central truncated cone of the partition, is removed, bodies enter this air passage. It has been observed that, when bodies pass in front of this opening, the lighter ones are deviated from their trajectory and preferentially enter the larger ones in the central opening. It follows that the broken bodies which are in the vicinity of the outlet partition are, after a relatively short time, deflected into the air passage.
The screening process, object of the invention, is characterized in that, during the rotation of the crusher, the grinding bodies are made to penetrate into the central opening, they are collected in a receiving chamber, and they are conveyed. from the enclosure to a screening means, the enclosure and the screening means being integral with the crusher and rotating with the latter so as to operate continuously, the screening means letting out of the crusher the worn or broken crushing bodies and returning the other grinding bodies back to the grinding charge.
A device for implementing the method according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a central opening made in the truncated discharge cone, a receiving enclosure consisting of a truncated cone provided with a ring intended for to retain the grinding bodies, and a discharge tube conveying the grinding bodies from the receiving truncated cone to a screening trommel, the receiving trommel, the tube and the trommel being integral with the crusher and rotating with this last so as to operate continuously.
In order to better understand the invention, an exemplary embodiment thereof will be described below with reference to the drawings in which:
fig. 2 is a partial view in longitudinal section showing a crusher and its outlet wall according to the state of the art;
fig. 3 is a partial view in longitudinal section showing the device according to the invention;
fig. 4 is a perspective of the device according to the invention mounted in the truncated discharge cone of the crusher.
As shown in fig. 2, at the downstream end of the known grinder of the secondary grinding compartment there is provided a wall 1 provided with openings 2. The openings 2 allow the passage of the ground material and prevent the passage of the grinding bodies. Behind the wall 1 is a chamber 3. Wear plates 4 and 5 protect the shell and the bottom of the mill. The chamber 3 is provided with lifters 6. The crusher turns in the direction of arrow A. The material which enters through the openings 2 into the chamber 3 is, during the rotation of the crusher, brought above the axis of the latter by lifters 6 and flows onto the hollow truncated cone 7 which deflects the material towards the outlet tube 8.
A grid 71, located at the center of the truncated cone 7, allows the passage of the scavenging air which circulates in the mill according to the arrows X. The grid 71 prevents the passage of the grinding bodies.
In accordance with the invention and as shown in FIGS. 3 and 4, inside the truncated cone 7 is mounted a second shorter truncated cone 9. The large base of this truncated cone 9 is located in the plane of the upstream face of the wall 1. The truncated cone 9 is hollow and its large base has a ring 10 defining a wide opening 11 at its center.
The truncated cone 7 is extended by a cylinder 12. At the downstream end of the cylinder 12 is fixed a cylindrical screening trommel 13 formed of removable perforated sheets. The cylinder 12 allows the material coming from the truncated discharge cone 7 to flow towards the outlet tube 8, without entering the trommel 13. The upstream base of the trommel 13 is open and its downstream base is closed by a sheet. perforated 14. The truncated cone 9 is connected to the truncated cone 7 by spacers 15. Between the truncated cones 7 and 9 is formed a passage area that is wider than the larger grinding bodies used for secondary grinding. In the truncated cone 9 is welded an evacuation tube 16, for example of square section, comprising at its upstream end a lateral opening 17 located forward with respect to the direction of rotation of the crusher and, at its downstream end, an opening transverse 18.
The free section of the tube is also larger than the larger grinding bodies used for secondary grinding. The tube 16 is secured via one of its faces to the truncated cone 9.
The tube 16 is positioned in such a way that, during the rotation of the crusher, it is slightly inclined downwards from upstream to downstream during its upward trajectory, so that the bodies, retained by the ring 10 in the truncated cone reception 9, enter the lateral opening 17 of the tube, slide from upstream to downstream in the tube during its upward trajectory and are finally rejected through its downstream opening 18 into the screening trommel 13.
Advantageously, when putting into service a new
load, these openings in the perforated sheet of the trommel are allon
older and their smallest dimension is slightly larger than the
half the diameter of the smallest grinding bodies provided in the
initial charge; unlike the openings 2 of the wall 1, the
openings in the perforated sheet of the trommel are little exposed to
wear; they have only a slight tendency to widen and one can
this means that they are larger than the openings 2.
The shell of the mill is lined with a self-classifying shield 19 (fig. 2) and the mill is partially filled with balls which are
classified by this shielding in decreasing sizes from the entrance to
the exit. The worn balls and the broken bodies 20 are therefore directed
towards the edge of the exit. During the rotation of the crusher, a
small amount of body enters the opening with each turn
central 11: it is preferentially whole bodies worn from
small diameter and broken balls 20. The bodies that penetrate
in the opening 1 1 fall into the truncated cone 9 and gather
blent in its lowest zone, against ring 10 which
prevents it from falling back into the grinding chamber. The bodies
thus collected enter, as a result of the rotation of the crusher, in
the tube 16 through its opening 17.
Tube 16 picks them up and rejects them
through the opening 18 near the downstream end of the trommel 13. The
worn bodies and broken bodies 20 pass through the openings of the sheets
of the trommel and are discharged with the crushed material. The bodies of
dimension greater than the openings of the trommel sheets are
evacuated in the passage existing between the truncated cones 7 and 9 and
fall back into the grinding charge.
Consequently, thanks to the device according to the invention, the bodies
broken 20 are quickly evacuated when they reach the
around the exit partition 1 and therefore no longer block the openings
outlet openings 2. As for the openings of the trommel 13 sheets,
being in principle larger than the broken body parts,
there is no risk of them being blocked by them.
Behind the outlet tube 8 of the crusher there is usually
provided a trommel or a vibrating screen (not shown) in order to
collect ground grains and scrap steel. Worn bodies
and the broken bodies 20 are therefore removed from the crushed material by this
trommel or this vibrating sieve with the impregnated ones.
In the event that it is desirable to provide screening
accelerated load of the crusher, it is possible to provide at the entrance of the
truncated cone 9 a collector member external to the wall 1 of the
partition, this collecting member thus being located in space by
run by the trajectories of the cannonballs.
As shown in dotted lines in FIG. 3, the collec
tor 21 is integral with ring 10; it has the shape of a half-trunk
cone whose small base is open and directed towards the entrance of the
crusher and whose large base, also open, follows the edge
inside the ring 10 of the truncated cone 9.
When, during the rotation of the mill, the collecting element 21
is under the axis of this one, it deflects the bodies which strike it towards
the opening 11 of the truncated cone 9. The quantity
of bodies taken from each mill revolution for screening.
