EMI1.2
umsetzt.

Baumwolle, Mais, Sorghum
Unkräuter:
Alopecurus myosuroides, Amaranthus retroflexus, Sesba nia exaltata, Chrysanthemum leucanthemum, Digitaria sangui nalis, Setaria italica, Echinochloa crus galli

The present invention relates to an agent for combating weeds in crops which contains at least one triazinylamidine as an active ingredient, and to the use of this agent.
The triazinyl amidines are new compounds and correspond to formula 1:
EMI1.1
In this formula: X is halogen, a lower alkoxy or alkylthio radical, R; Alkyl, alkoxyalkyl, cyanoalkyl or cycloalkyl, R2 hydrogen or alkyl, R3 and R4 independently of one another each alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or together a polymethylene bridge member which is optionally interrupted by oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen and which can be substituted by lower alkyl.
In formula I, for the symbol X, lower alkoxy and alkylthio radicals are understood to mean those with 1-3 carbon atoms, preferably methoxy and methylthio; Chlorine is the preferred halogen atom. Suitable alkyl radicals are those with 1-5 carbon atoms, such as methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, isobutyl, sec-butyl or tert. Butyl radical and the n / pentyl radical and its isomers. These radicals also form the alkyl portion of alkoxyalkyl and cyanoalkyl substituents. Allyl, methallyl and 2-propynyl should preferably be mentioned as alkenyl or alkynyl radicals. Cycloalkyl is to be understood as meaning cyclopropyl, cyclobutyl, cyclopentyl and cyclohexyl.
As a polymethylene bridge member with a chain interrupted by oxygen, sulfur and / or nitrogen, R3 and R4 together with the nitrogen atom carrying them preferably represent the following heterocycles: pyrrolidine, piperidine, piperazine, N-methylpiperazine, morpholine or thiomorpholine.
The new triazinyl-amidines of the formula I can be obtained by adding a triazine derivative of the formula II
EMI1.2
implements. In formulas II and III, X, Rl, R2, R3 and -R4 have the meanings given under formula I.
The reaction is preferably carried out in a solvent and diluent which is inert towards the reactants, for example in aliphatic or aromatic hydrocarbons, such as benzene, toluene, xylenes; Halogenated hydrocarbons such as chlorobenzene, chloroform, methylene chloride; Ethers and ethereal compounds such as dialkyl ethers, dioxane, tetrahydrofuran; Ketones such as acetone, methyl ethyl ketone; Nitriles such as acetonitrile, etc.
as well as in mixtures of such solvents with one another.
The reaction temperatures are between 0 "and 100.
The triazine derivatives of the formula II used as starting materials can be prepared by customary methods, namely from cyanuric chloride by replacing two chlorine atoms with corresponding amino groups and, if necessary, by replacing the third chlorine atom with an alkoxy or alkylthio group.
The following example describes the preparation of the triazinyl-amidines of the formula I. The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.
example
29.5 g of 2-methoxy-4-tert-butylamino-6-amino-s-triazine and 17.8 g of N, N-dimethylformamide-dimethylacetal are stirred to a paste and left to stand for 24 hours at room temperature. The methyl alcohol formed is then distilled off. The glassy mass soon becomes crystalline and N2 {2-methoxy4-tert.butylamino-s-triazinyl- (6)} N1, N1-dimethylformamidine with a melting point of 131 "-133" is obtained.

The triazinyl-amidines of the formula I have excellent herbicidal properties and are particularly suitable for combating grass-like and broad-leaved weeds in various crops. When used in high concentrations, the new compounds act as total herbicides, while in lower concentrations they act as selective herbicides. Of the active ingredients of the formula I, difficult to control and deep-rooted, annual or perennial weed species are damaged or destroyed with good success in their growth. The application of the new active ingredients can be carried out with the same good success before emergence (preemergence) and after emergence (postemergence). Field weeds, such as Millet species (Panicum sp.), Mustard species (Sinapis sp.), Goosefoot species (Chenopodiaceae), foxtail species, e.g. B.
Amaranthus sp., Grasses e.g. B. Lolium sp., Composites, e.g. B. Taraxacum sp., Chamomile species Matricaria sp.), Destroyed or hindered in growth without causing damage to crops such as grain, maize, cotton, sorghum, soybeans, etc. The application rates vary and depend on the time of application, they are between 0.1-10 kg of active ingredient per hectare, for applications before emergence of the plants up to 4 kg of active ingredient per hectare and after emergence of the plants at 1-5 kg of active ingredient per hectare For such a total destruction of the entire weed population, for example on the fallow land adjacent to the cultivated land, more than 10 kg of active ingredient per hectare must be used.
The crop rotation can take place without impairment when using the new active ingredients.
The herbicidal effect of triazinylamidines is demonstrated using the following experiment; the numbers of the active ingredients refer to the table following the example.
Herbicidal effect when the active ingredients are applied before the plants emerge (preemergence application)

For this purpose, the active ingredient or several active ingredients of the general formula I are dissolved in suitable organic solvents, solvent mixtures, water or mixtures of organic solvents with water. Aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons, their chlorinated derivatives, alkylnaphthalenes, mineral oils, alone or as a mixture with one another, can be used as organic solvents. The solutions should contain the active ingredients in a concentration range of 1 1-20%.
These solutions can be applied either with the help of a propellant gas (as a spray) or with special syringes (as an aerosol).
Other biocidal active ingredients or agents can be mixed with the agents according to the invention described. Thus, in addition to the compounds of general formula I mentioned, the new agents can contain, for example, insecticides, fungicides, bactericides, fungistatic agents, bacteriostatic agents or nematocides to broaden the spectrum of activity.
