Abstract
The protector for windscreen wiper blade is used to prolong the life of the blade. This protector is especially useful in hot climates, where blade is exposed to damaging solar heat. The windscreen wiper blade is enclosed into a detachable envelope. A V shaped strip (10) can be also additionally placed within the envelope (12) and over the wiper blade edge. Rivets can be provided for enclosing the envelope edge which facilitates its mounting and removal. Alternatively a clasp link fastener can be provided, for the cover which is removed for given use periods.
Description
Fig. 1 eine Seitenansicht einer Ausführungsform der Erfindung,
Fig. 4 eine Seitenansicht einer weiteren Ausführungsform,
Fig. 6 eine Seitenansicht durch eine letzte Ausführungsform.

**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
All automobiles are fitted with windshield wipers. The windscreen wiper blades must be replaced at least once every year, as they become unusable during the summer due to the influence of solar radiation and the heat.
In particularly hot climates, replacement is required much more frequently if an operational wiper should also be available during the hot season.
Replacement wiper blades are known to be quite expensive.
The aim of the invention is to significantly reduce the related costs of the automobile operation and to ensure the full functionality of the wiper blades and thus driving safety in rain and snow for as long as possible. According to the invention, the protective device comprises a cover detachably attached to the wiper blade.
If this protective device is attached in spring and remains attached to it through the summer, the life of the wiper blades is extended to at least 2 years. If a downpour occurs in summer, the device is temporarily removed.
If the protective device is always attached when the wiper is not expected to be needed, then the service life of the wiper blades can be extended further. In dry and hot areas there is therefore a substantial saving.
In the following the invention is illustrated by way of example with reference to the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a side view of an embodiment of the invention,
Fig. 2 is a cross section through line 2-2 in Fig. 1,
Fig. 3 is a cross section through the line 3-3 in Fig. 1,
4 shows a side view of a further embodiment,
Fig. 5 is a cross section through the line 5-5 thereof, and
6 shows a side view through a last embodiment.
In the exemplary embodiment of FIGS. 1 to 3, part 14 of the entire wiper blade holder presses the blade 16 into the cover 10. A sleeve 12 is slipped over the wiper blade and the cover 10. The sheath 12 is preferably made of Teflon. The V-shaped asbestos strip can be formed from a strip of commercially available size. Since most wiper blades are no more than about 12 mm high, a 25 mm (1 inch) wide strip will suffice. The Teflon of the cover is heat-resistant and durable.
The asbestos strip is inserted under the wiper blade 16 and a cover 12 is pushed over half of the wiper blade from each side.
In the exemplary embodiment in FIGS. 4 and 5, the asbestos cover 20 can be fastened or inserted into the casing 22. One half of the cover can be riveted or closed with clips. At least one half, however, can be opened so that the cover can be pushed onto the wiper blade, after which it is closed by 2 or 3 push buttons 24, depending on whether the wiper is longer or shorter. A metal or plastic zipper can also be provided instead of the snap fasteners.
The embodiment according to FIG. 6 has a first section 32A, which is closed by snap fasteners or rivets 34, and a second section 32B which can be closed and opened by means of a zipper 36.
Another modification results in that a hose is slit open up to half and provided with one of the above-mentioned closure means.
In cases where hose-like or tube-like covers are used, two cover sections telescopically pushed into one another can be provided on both sides. By lengthening or pushing in, the length can be adapted to any practically occurring wiper dimension.
This eliminates the need for a set of different dimensions.
