The present invention relates to a clothes peg. It is characterized in that it comprises a single element in thermoplastic material forming a closed loop, the free ends of the element having the form of gooseneck spouts, one end being recessed and engaged with the other. end, of smaller width. to form the branches of a clamp, all so that the pressure exerted laterally on the loop causes the branches to move apart from each other, the two nozzles of the clamp coming into contact again under the effect of the elasticity when the buckle is no longer subjected to pressure.
The appended drawing represents two embodiments of the clamp which is the subject of the invention, given by way of example.
Figs. I to 7 show the clamp in the first embodiment, fig. 1 being a partial elevational view in section, taken along line I-I of FIG. 2 in the deployed state in the form of a bar emerging from the mold, FIG. 2 being a plan view of FIG. 1. fig. 3, a side view of the bar from the side of its recessed end, FIG. 4, a side view of the bar from the side of its narrowed end, FIG. 5, an elevational view of the bar in an intermediate stage of formation of the loop. fig. 6, a plan view of FIG. 5, and fig. 7, an elevational view of the clamp in its final stage of formation.
Figs. 8 to 11 show the clamp in the second embodiment, FIG. 8 being a partial elevational view in section, taken along line VIII-VIII of FIG. 9, in the deployed state in the form of a bar emerging from the mold, FIG. 9 being a plan view of FIG. 8. FIG. 10 being a side view of the bar from the side of its recessed end and FIG. II, an elevational view of the gripper in its final stage of formation.
The clothes pegs shown comprise a single element having the general shape of a closed loop, obtained from an oblong bar of thermoplastic material, for example high or low pressure polyethylene, polypropylene or chlorinated polyvinyl called PVC, said bar being obtained by injection into a mold.
In the first embodiment, shown in FIGS. 1 to 7, the bar 1 comprises a middle part 2, of rectangular section and two end parts 3 and 4, the end 3, of the same width as the middle part 2 and of U-shaped section, having in elevation a hook 5 forming a swan neck. The hook 5 is provided with a spout 6 and the core of the U is recessed in the part forming this hook for the passage of the end 4. This end 4, of narrower width compared to the middle part 2 of the bar and of U-shaped section, has in elevation the same shape of hook 7 as that of the end 3. The end 4 is provided with a spout 8, of U-shaped section, each branch 9, 9 'of the U being, in addition, reinforced on its outer face by an extra thickness 10, 10' respectively, forming a stop.
The formation of the clamp from the bar 1 described above is carried out in two operations. We begin by lifting the ends 3 and 4 of the bar to bend the middle part 2, as shown in fig. 5 and 6, and form the start of a loop 11 (fig. 7). The spout 6 is then introduced into the recess of the hook 7 until the two spouts 6 and 8 are in contact with each other to obtain the final shape of the clamp. By exerting pressure on the pliers with your fingers, for example on the top 4 'in the direction of the arrow f, the pliers are opened, the jaws 6 and 8 moving away from each other under the effect of the elasticity of the bar, as shown in phantom for branch 4 in FIG. 7.
When the pressure is released on the pliers, the two nozzles 6 and 8 automatically come into contact with each other.
In the second embodiment of the clamp, shown in FIGS. 8 to 11, the bar 12 comprises the same parts as those described in the first embodiment. The only difference lies in the middle part 13, the width of which is greater than that of the middle part 2 of the bar 1. This middle part 13 (FIG. II) also has, in its position of use, a shape. in an arc with a large bending radius.
This reinforcement is intended to increase the clamping pressure of the clamp.
In certain cases, this clamping pressure of one of the branches of the clamp on the other can be further improved by introducing a flexible strip inside the loop. To this end, a variant of the first embodiment is shown in phantom lines in FIGS. 1, 2, 3 and 7.
In this variant, the front end 14 (FIG. 1) of the median part 2 of the bar 1 is extended in a position inclined upwards by a flexible strip 15 of rectangular section.
The end 16 of this strip 15 is brought into contact with the loop 11 (fig. 7) of the middle part 2 when the two nozzles 6 and 8 are in contact with each other in the final shape of the pliers. . This reinforcement piece is intended to increase the closing pressure of the jaws 6 and 8 of the clamp.
It is obvious that the variant described also applies to the second embodiment of the clamp shown in FIGS. 8 to It.
The clothespin described has the advantage over the usual tongs of being in one piece injected into a mold and of being devoid of a spring and of an articulation axis.
