The present invention relates to new metal-containing monoazo dyes, processes for their production, their use for dyeing collagen-containing material, especially leather, and organic material, and the material dyed using the new dyes.
New metal-containing monoazo dyes have been found which have good fastness properties, in particular high lightfastness, and good leveling and drawing properties.
These new dyes correspond to the general formula I:
EMI1.1
in the
A is an optionally substituted benzene or naphthalene radical,
X -O- or -COO- in the o-position to the azo bond,
Z hydrogen, halogen, an alkyl group with 14 carbon atoms, alkoxy group with 14 carbon atoms or the carboxyl group,
R1 is hydrogen or an alkyl group with 14 carbon atoms,
R2 is hydrogen or an aliphatic radical, Y1 is a benzene or naphthalene radical optionally containing sulfonic acid groups,
Y2 is an aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or aromatic radical, n is the number 1 or 2 and
Me means one of the metals copper, nickel or iron, and which contain a total of at least 2 and at most 5 sulfonic acid groups.
As substituents of the benzene or naphthalene radical A, e.g. Alkyl groups with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, alkoxy groups with 1 to 3 carbon atoms, halogens, nitro, carbacylamino, lower-alkylsulfonyl, sulfamoyl, Nmono- or N, N-disubstituted sulfamoyl or sulfonic acid groups are suitable. Examples of such substituents include: methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, methoxy, ethoxy, propoxy, chlorine, bromine, fluorine, acetylamino, chloromethylsulfonylamino, benzoylamino, methylsulfonyl, ethylsulfonyl, methylaminosulfonyl, ethylaminosulfonyl, dimethylaminosulfonyl and diethylaminosulfonyl.
Y2 and R2 in the meaning of an aliphatic radical mainly represent saturated or unsaturated alkyl radicals with 1 to 18 carbon atoms. If these radicals are substituted, then, for example, hydroxyl groups, alkoxy groups with 1-4 carbon atoms, the cyano group, halogens, such as chlorine, come as substituents or bromine, carboxyl or sulfonic acid groups in question. Examples of suitable aliphatic radicals are: methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, isobutyl, sec. Butyl, tert. Butyl, pentyl, isopentyl, hexyl, heptyl, octyl, decyl, dodecyl, stearyl, vinyl, allyl, oleyl, ss-hydroxyethyl, ss-chloroethyl, ss-cyanoethyl, a, ss-dihydroxyethyl, ss ethoxyethyl, carboxymethyl and sulfoethyl.
If Y2 is a cycloaliphatic radical, the cyclopropyl, cyclohexyl, cycloheptyl and cyclododecyl groups are particularly suitable. If Y2 is an aromatic radical, this preferably belongs to the benzene series; it can have customary ring substituents. Examples include: halogens, such as fluorine, chlorine or bromine, lower alkyl, lower alkoxy or sulfonic acid groups.
Y, as a benzene residue, can contain up to 2 sulfonic acid groups and as a naphthalene residue, up to 3 sulfonic acid groups.
The metal-containing monoazo dyes of the formula I are prepared by adding a compound of the formula

The metal-containing monoazo dyes obtainable according to the invention are salted out from their previously neutralized solution or suspension with an alkali metal salt, such as sodium or potassium chloride, filtered off with suction, washed with aqueous sodium or potassium chloride solution and advantageously dried at elevated temperature and, if desired, under reduced pressure.
The dyes of the formula I which can be prepared according to the invention are red to brown powders. They are soluble in water, resistant to overcooking and are suitable for dyeing collagen-containing material such as leather, especially retanned leather, chrome-tanned suede or grain leather. They have good leveling properties and produce level dyeings, especially on retanned leather.
The leather is dyed in the usual way in a weakly acidic, for example formic acid, aqueous dye liquor with vigorous agitation. Leather dyeings obtained with the dyes of the formula I according to the invention are notable for good lightfastness, good penetration of the leather and uniform, opaque color shades which change only insignificantly when suede is sanded. Another advantageous property should also be emphasized:
When processing leather dyed according to the invention with differently colored rubber or plasticized polymers, e.g. Polyvinyl chloride, e.g. B. in shoe processing, there is no diffusion of the dyes according to the invention into the rubber or into the polymer.
Injection or pour dyeing of dry leathers is also possible with the dyes according to the invention and gives good fastness properties.
The organic material that can be dyed or printed with the dyes according to the invention is primarily natural and synthetic polyamide fibers.
Of the dyes of the formula I according to the invention, those of particular importance are those in which A is an optionally substituted benzene radical, X is oxygen, Z and Rt is hydrogen, R2 is an optionally substituted alkyl group having 1-4 carbon atoms, in particular the n-butyl group, Y1 is a sulfophenyl radical , Y2 is an aliphatic radical, in particular the n-butyl radical, n is the number 1 or 2, especially 1, and Me is copper, since they lead to particularly valuable dyes with high lightfastness and good leveling and drawing power.
The following examples illustrate the invention.
The temperatures are given in degrees Celsius.

23.4 g of 6-nitro-2-aminophenol-4-sulfonic acid are diazotized and coupled to 18.9 g of p-aminophenylmethylpyrazolone under customary conditions. The dye solution thus obtained is added dropwise at OS "and a pH of 6-7 to an aqueous suspension of 18.4 g of cyanuric chloride with the simultaneous addition of dilute aqueous sodium hydroxide solution to maintain the pH. When the reaction is complete, the reaction mixture is added 25.3 g of aniline-2,5-disulfonic acid, the temperature gradually increases to 5e60 "and condenses with the addition of aqueous sodium hydroxide solution for 4 hours at a pH value of 8. To convert the third halogen atom in the cyanuric residue, 12.9 g of n -Dibutylamine added.
The reaction mixture is then heated to 90 and the pH is kept at 9-10 by adding aqueous sodium hydroxide solution. After the condensation has ended, the dye is precipitated by adding sodium chloride, filtered off and washed with sodium chloride solution. The still moist presscake is dissolved in water at 80 "and 25 g of crystalline copper sulfate are added to the hot reaction mixture at pH 5, in the form of a 25% strength aqueous solution. The copper complex dye of the above formula that is formed is completely separated out by adding sodium chloride, filtered off, washed with sodium chloride solution and dried in vacuo at 90 ". It is a dark brown powder that dyes leather in red-brown shades of very good lightfastness. The leather is also well colored.
Dyes with similar properties are obtained if one proceeds according to Example 37, but using the dyes listed in Table II, column 2 below, and these crystals instead of 25 g of copper sulfate. treated with equivalent amounts of the metal salts listed in column 3.

26.9 g of 2-aminophenol-4,6-disulfonic acid are diazotized at 0-5 "and coupled to 18.9 g of p-aminophenylmethylpyrazolone at 10-20. 32.1 g of this dye solution are added dropwise at 35-40 over 30 minutes 2-m-sulfophenylamino4,6-dichloro-s-triazine, dissolved in 400 ml of water, is added and the pH is kept at 67 by the simultaneous addition of aqueous sodium hydroxide solution until the reaction has ended , 9 g of n-butylamine, increases the temperature to 90-95 "and condenses for 2 hours at a pH value of 9.
After the condensation has ended, 25 8 copper sulfate is crystallized in the usual way. acetatically coppered and then the dye isolated and washed. After drying, it is a brown powder and colors leather in light brown tones.
Example 5
100 g of dry, chrome-cooked suede are soaked back in the usual way and then drummed in 800 ml of water with 8 g of dye from Example 4 for 1 hour at 50%. After this time, 4 g of 85% formic acid are added and tumbling is continued for 30 minutes. The leather dyed in this way is dried and finished as usual. In this way, a coloration with good fastness properties, in particular good lightfastness and sandfastness, is obtained.
Example 6
100 g of folded chrome leather is rinsed with water at 30 °. Then it is drummed with 300 g of water of 300 and 1 g of sodium bicarbonate for 45 minutes in a dyeing drum. The leather pretreated in this way is then drummed with 200 g of water at 50 "with 0.8 g of dye from Example 1 for 20 minutes and greased in the usual way with 3 g of a sulfonated foot oil in the same bath for 45 minutes. The leather is then dried and how usually finished.
A level, opaque dyeing of good fastness properties, particularly high light fastness, is obtained.
