**WARNUNG** Ende DESC Feld konnte Anfang CLMS uberlappen**.
The present invention relates to a method for producing a fire protection film which is non-combustible and thermally insulating, as well as a device for carrying out the method and a fire protection film produced by the method.
The protection of buildings, structures and objects of all kinds and the associated safety problem with regard to the effects of heat and fire has been a significant problem for a long time and still does today.
It is known to achieve this protection by means of special paints that are applied to the objects to be protected.
Some of these paints have components that are not or difficult to tell, for example alkali silicates in the form of water glass.
The thicker these coatings can be applied, the greater their protective effect, of course. However, such layers cannot be produced in a single coat, so that this requires considerable effort. However, it is difficult to achieve sufficient adhesion of these paints to the substrate, so that in the event of use the protective effect can be lost due to the paint peeling off. In addition, water glass generates bubbles under the influence of heat, which initially form a closed structure, but can then tear and fall off, which significantly reduces the protective effect. The addition of finely divided non-flammable fillers cannot prevent the travel and flaking following the formation of bubbles, but at most reduce it.
It is also known to cover the objects to be protected with heat-insulating materials, which essentially consist of non-combustible or flame-retardant materials with the addition of other components, e.g. Water glass, consist.
The disadvantage of these materials is that they are relatively complex to manufacture and require additional space for their use.
The object of the present invention is to create a method for producing a fire protection film which does not have the disadvantages of protective coatings and protective materials.
According to the invention, this object is achieved in that a film-like carrier material is covered with a glass fiber mat and a layer of liquid and powdery water glass is applied to the glass fiber mat and then solidified.
This means that, on the one hand, the layer of water glass can be made as thick as desired, whereby it is anchored in the glass fiber mat, which prevents the protective layer resulting from the formation of bubbles from tearing and falling off in the event of fire, while the use of a carrier material makes the fire protection film light and can be laid in a space-saving manner.
The layer is expediently applied with the addition of powdery aluminum silicate. In this way, the layer thickness of the layer can be influenced.
Furthermore, the components of the layer can be applied in one pass. In this way, a suitable fabrication can be maintained, but the layer thickness can be varied between 1 to 50 mm as desired.
A dimensionally stable material, e.g. an asbestos sheet can be used. This achieves a sufficient form stability of the fire protection film. Also a malleable material, e.g. an aluminum foil can be used as the carrier material. This means that the film can be deformed and thus adapted to projections, corners, bulges, etc.
In addition, the layer can be strengthened by means of a hardening agent, for example potassium fluoride. The layer can also be strengthened by means of heat.
The device for carrying out the method is characterized in that pouring channels for simultaneous application of the liquid and solid components of the layer are arranged one after the other over the continuous glass fiber mat arranged on the carrier material.
The invention is based on the idea that it is not sufficient to create a fire protection film to impregnate a glass fiber mat, be it in the form of a fabric or a fleece, with non-flammable materials, for example water glass, but that it is necessary to form a durable protective layer is to arrange the water glass in a sufficiently thick layer on the glass fiber mat, whereby of course a certain anchoring with the glass fiber mat occurs. If the layer thickness is sufficiently large, depending on the purpose of the fire protection film about 1-50 mm, the water glass forms a cohesive protective layer anchored in the glass fiber mat when exposed to heat and which is not subject to cracking and parts of the protective layer falling off.
The glass fiber mat can also melt in the event of a high level of heat development, but this does not have a disadvantageous effect on the protective layer, on the contrary, in the sense of reinforcing it.
In the attached figure, the fire protection film is shown schematically in section. 1 with a film-like carrier material is referred to, on which the fire protection film is built. The carrier material 1 can for example consist of an asbestos foil or an aluminum foil. In the first case, the fire protection film has a certain inherent rigidity, while in the second case a deformation of the fire protection film to adapt to local conditions is possible. If contact between the water glass and the aluminum foil has to be feared, the aluminum foil can be coated accordingly without losing its deformability.
A glass fiber mat 2 in the form of a woven fabric or a fleece lies on the carrier material 1. The glass fiber mat 2 is connected to the carrier material 1 in a suitable manner, for example by gluing.
The protective layer 3 made of water glass is applied to the glass fiber mat 2. It is essential that the protective layer 3 is applied in the desired layer thickness in one pass, which is done by applying liquid water glass on the one hand and powder water glass on the other. Any desired layer thickness can be produced by using the appropriate proportions of these two components. In addition, it is possible to influence the layer thickness, apart from the two water glass components, by adding powdery aluminum silicate.
The application of the various components during the single pass of the glass fiber mat lying on the carrier material 1 is carried out in the device according to the invention by means of pouring channels which for this purpose are arranged one after the other in the direction of movement of the glass fiber mat.
After the layer has been applied, the film is solidified, e.g. hardened or dried out, the hardening being expediently carried out by adding a corresponding hardening agent, for example potassium fluoride, while drying can be carried out by means of oven heat, press heat or infrared heating.
The fire protection film described forms a coherent, closed protective layer even when exposed to very high temperatures, for example above 100û C, which does not show any cracks even after prolonged exposure to heat. There is also practically no smoke formation during the formation of bubbles and no toxic gases are split off either.
Depending on the use of a certain carrier material, the fire protection film can be used for flat or profiled material. It can be used as an intermediate layer or as an outer cover for the objects to be protected.
