The present invention relates to a raw, unfinished fabric which has, at least as the weft yarn, an elastic yarn containing non-thermoplastic staple fibers, the warp having an enlarged warp thread spacing.
Elastic fabrics are becoming more and more important in the clothing industry, e.g. as a material for the manufacture of outerwear as well as for leisure and sportswear. Up to now, such elastically stretchable fabrics have mainly been produced from yarns which consist of thermoplastic material or which have at least been subjected to a pretreatment with synthetic resin in order to make them similar in their behavior to the yarns made of thermoplastic material.
The patent CH 452 100 describes a process for the production of an elastically stretchable yarn from staple fibers which consists of non-thermoplastic fibers. In addition, it has also already been proposed to produce elastic yarns from mixed webs consisting of thermoplastic textile fibers, in which the non-thermoplastic fibers make up a predominant proportion.
The present invention aims to create a fabric of the type described in the opening paragraph, which is characterized in that the sum (M) of the average number of weft and warp threads per 2.54 cm is not greater than
EMI1.1
in which
Nm is the metric number of the weft yarn, y is the number of warp threads in a repeat,
N is the number of bonds per warp thread in one
Mean rapport.
The value 0.91 is obtained as follows:
If the raw fabric is 91 meters long and the chain material wound on the warp beam is 100 meters long, the warp contraction is 9% and the value 1 to 0.09 = 0.91. As mentioned, the value M represents the sum of the average number of weft and warp threads per 2.54 cm and thus the maximum average achievable raw fabric that still results in an elastically stretchable fabric, this value should not be exceeded. The minimum average value should usually not be less than 50% of the calculated value for M.
It is important to know the chain width, i. to enlarge the width of the unwoven warp threads by spreading them, compared to the conventional warp thread arrangements in order to create a larger air gap between the warp threads, which gives the filling thread or the weft thread the opportunity to contract. If the elastically stretchable yarn is only used in the weft, the fabric is only in the weft direction, i.e. Elastic in width.
If desired, an elastically extensible yarn can also be used as a warp, in which case the fabric is extensible in both directions. rThe elastic elongation in the weft direction can be between 8 and 65%, depending on how the structure of the fabric and its finishing is chosen.
It should be noted that the extent of the elastic elongation is essentially influenced by the spread of the warp, the type of fabric, the structure of the fabric, the yarn quality and the finishing factors.
Standard equipment and apparatus can be used to produce the raw fabric. However, in order to produce a quality product it is necessary to control the tension in the yarn and fabric.
E.g. in the case of a multi-guard loom, care must be taken to ensure that the shooters are in control of their weight and tension in the weft direction. Other types of processes and methods normally used to produce quality products, e.g. careful selection of yarns to be processed should also be considered, both in weaving and in making the yarn.
After the production of the raw fabric, it is possible to finish it under well-known, but carefully coordinated conditions, since the quality of the resulting elastically stretchable yarn can be greatly influenced by the finishing methods. The finishing conditions, which are selected in each individual case, of course depend on the type of yarn and fabric. It is important that those finishing steps which include a liquid or dry treatment are carried out with the fabric free of tension as much as possible.
example 1
A worsted 50's of USDA wool quality 70's (i.e.
1 / SO's 70 s wool yarn? with a twist of 710 T / m in the S-direction was twisted with an identical worsted yarn with the same yarn elongation, the twist in the S-direction being carried out at 470 T / m. While twisting, the yarns were kept under a constant tension of 10 g.
The thread was stabilized by a saturated steam treatment (dry bulb 800-900C and wet bulb 700-800C) at 800 to 900C for 60 minutes. This twist (designated 2 / 50's 710 5 X 470 S) was then subjected to heat treatment on a false twisting machine at a speed of 18.53 m / min. The temperature of the heating element was kept at 220 ° C., the yarn being exposed to heat for 8 ° / .00 sec per cm. when heated, the thread was given 1B10 T / m in the Z direction by the false twist spindle rotating at 34,000 rpm.
A 1 × 1 fabric was produced from the twisted weft yarn produced in this way. The warp consisted of a 2 / 50's 70's English thread (worsted yarn) consisting of two single 1/50 70's yarns with a twist of 710 T / m in the Z-direction. The yarns were twisted in the S direction at 670 T / m, with no thermal treatment being carried out.
When determining M, it was taken into account that the yarn, as a result of twisting, amounted to about 250 m / kg per 28, which resulted in about 28.2 as the metric yarn number. The warp was again expanded in width in order to achieve a predetermined amount of stretch in the weft direction.
The value M was calculated according to the formula given, namely
EMI2.1
The expansion of the chain resulted in a contraction of 26.5% in width after relaxation of the tissue. A corresponding stretching would therefore be possible until the tensioned state is reached. The expansion of the warp according to this example means that the individual warp threads are 8 to 12% further apart than in a similar, non-elastically stretchable fabric. The distribution of the warp threads over a larger width also helps to keep the total number of wefts and ends per cm below the calculated maximum value of M = 108.
The fabric produced in this way can be fed to further processing, by means of which it receives its elastic stretchability in the weft direction.
Example 2
A worsted yarn of yarn number 60 English, consisting of a mixture of 47SO 70's US, DA wool and 53% 3 Den. T-64 Dacron with 790 T / m in the Z-r direction was twisted with an identical yarn with 710 T / m in the 'S direction. During the twisting, the two yarns were held under a constant tension of 15 g.
The thread was then stabilized by treatment with saturated steam at 80-900C for 60 minutes. The statilized thread with the designation 2 / 60's 790 Z
X 710 S was then subjected to a thermal treatment corresponding to the treatment described in Example 1.
The elastic thread produced in this way became a
1 X 1 fabric made. The thread used for the warp had the same structure as the elastic weft thread produced by the method described, but with the difference that the warp thread was of a conventional type and had no thermal treatment or false twist.
When calculating the maximum value M, it was taken into account that the twisting resulted in a measure of 33 840 m / kg, resulting in a corresponding Kamrngarnununer of about 3'3.8. The chain was again expanded to allow the tissue to contract in width. [The value for M was calculated from the formula as follows:
EMI2.2
In the finished state, the extension of the chain during manufacture enabled a contraction in the width of about 26%.
This means that the width of the fabric allows an approximately corresponding stretch from the relaxed state. To achieve this, the warp had to be expanded by 8 to 12% compared to the usual warp thread arrangement. By extending the chain, it was also possible to keep the number of wefts and ends per cm below the maximum calculated value M-118, which must be taken into account in order to achieve optimal results. This fabric is also well suited for further processing into a fabric with a very attractive appearance and elastic extensibility in the weft direction.
Example 3 Example 2 was repeated with the exception that instead of using two mixed yarns for the elastically extensible I-yarn, only one such mixed yarn together with a 10001, non-thermoplastic single-ply yarn of the structure described in Example 1 was used. The fabric produced in this way had excellent stretch properties in the weft direction and was also satisfactory in all other respects.
The quality of the woven product depends on the quality and type of staple fibers in the yarn. For example, in the case of yarns containing wool, the fibers should have the USDA quality number between SO's and 80's and worsted yarns should have a yarn number in the order of magnitude of 10's to 80's (English) before being twisted. A single yarn of this type with the number 60's can be referred to as 1 j60's - 80's wool.
Instead of twisted yarns being made from just two single yarns, they can also be made up of a larger number of single yarns, e.g. from 3, 4 or 5, with corresponding test results.
