Fig. 5 die Tür nach Fig. 4 in Schliesslage.
The invention relates to a sliding door for
Closing an opening in a wall, with a guide rail which has at least two guide surfaces at an angle to one another in the longitudinal direction, one of which is arranged away from the opening and a second inclining towards the opening, and over which surfaces the door extends Guide members of the wall can move along and at a distance therefrom, while a third guide surface is provided parallel to the second guide surface, which cooperates with one or more other existing guide members, the first guide surface being provided with recesses in places, in which the with this surface when the door is in the closed position, the cooperating guide elements engage, so that the door is guided into the closed position when it moves downwards towards the opening,
and means are provided to bring the door out of its closed position in the opposite direction.
Such a sliding door is known from Dutch patent 110.557.
In this known sliding door, an auxiliary rail is provided which is intended to lift the rolling guide members, which snap into the recesses, out of these recesses when the door is to be brought out of its closed position.
The presence of the auxiliary rail requires the guide members to be arranged in one and the same running surface.
In order to avoid that one of the guide organs, when the door is brought into the fully open position, gets into the detent for the other guide organ, the distance between the detents and therefore also between the guide organs should be greater than the distance that the door between their opening and closing positions.
At least one guide member should then protrude from the door, so that the guide rail has to be made correspondingly longer. This can be a disadvantage in confined spaces.
The invention is now intended to create a construction in which the distance between the guide members and the notches can be made shorter than the above door section.
For this purpose, in a sliding door according to the invention, the guide surface inclined from the door opening is formed by at least two parallel running surfaces, in each of which a recess is provided which cooperates with a single guide member, such that a guide member, when moving the door over a distance the closed position, the detent belonging to the other guide member can pass without engaging in it and that the device for moving the door from the closed position is arranged on the door.
It is thereby achieved that the distance between the guide members can be smaller than the distance to be covered by the door and that the guide rail can consequently be made much shorter. without the guide organs locking into any recess when they move a distance away from the closed position of the door.
In order to move the door out of the closed position, for which the guide elements are to be lifted out of their recesses, the device arranged on the door can consist of a lever articulated to the door, the long arm of which is designed as an operating lever and the short arm of which is intended to be temporarily attached to one to support fixed point of the wall or the door frame, be formed.
Because this device can also be used to manually bring the door to the fully open position and back, the lever can be provided with stops to limit angular rotation in both directions.
In addition to the already existing guide on the underside of the door, which tends towards the opening and is used, in particular when the door is closed, to press it against the opening, means can be provided to prevent the door, as soon as it leaves its closed position, with the Is pressed against the wall.
For this purpose, the sliding door near the floor can be provided with a fourth guide surface that runs parallel to the first guide surface, while a guide member is provided on the floor outside the door in the closed position, with which at least the fourth guide surface cooperates after the door is out of the closed position has been brought out.
In order to prevent the guide elements from moving further than the bottom into the associated notches due to the inertia force occurring when the door is closed, and to encourage the door to be guided in the direction of the closed position when it is closed. An adjustable stop member can be provided which, when the door is closed, rests against a stop surface for guiding the door and limiting the door movement.
The invention will now be explained in more detail with reference to some embodiments shown in the drawing. Show it:
Fig. 1 is a front view of a wall. provided with a sliding door according to the invention in a partially open position.
FIG. 2 shows a section along the line II-II of FIG. 1, according to which the door is in an open position.
3 shows a section according to FIG. 2, after which the door is in the closed position.
4 shows a second embodiment of a guide construction in which the door is in an open position.
5 shows the door according to FIG. 4 in the closed position.
In FIGS. 1, 2 and 3, 1 is the door leaf, hereinafter referred to as door for short, of a sliding door which can close an opening 2 in a wall.
At the level of the upper edge of the opening 2, a hanging rail 5 in the form of a bar of rectangular cross-section is attached via supports 4. which is provided with a guide surface 6 which is inclined downwards away from the wall and with a guide surface 7 which is inclined downwards towards the wall.
The guide surface 6 serves as a running surface for rollers 8 and 9, while rollers 10 and 11 have a running surface on the guide surface 7. The axes of the rollers 8 to 11 inclusive are attached to a hanger 31 which is connected to the door by two L-shaped arms 30 and is arranged above it. The running surface 6 is provided with local depressions 15, 16, at a relative distance which is the same as that of the rollers 8 and 9 and at a point which corresponds to that of the rollers in the closed position of the door.
Both the rollers 8 and 9 as well as the depressions 15 and 16 are offset from one another in the transverse direction, so that the guide surface for each roller has a running surface and a detent which are displaced parallel to the running surface and the detent of the other roller.
A lever attached to a hinge 17 at one end of the door has a long arm 18, a short arm 19 and two stops 20 and 21 for restricting the angular rotation of the lever. When the door is closed, the short arm 19 rests against a stop cam 22 on the wall 3.
A likewise inclined guide surface 12 is provided on the underside of the door near the floor, which runs parallel to the running surface 7 and which cooperates with guide cams 13, 14 provided on the floor on both sides of the opening 2.
Furthermore, the underside of the door is provided with a guide surface 23 which, as soon as the door has been brought out of the closed position, interacts with at least one guide cam 24 provided on the floor.
A cam 25 can be arranged on the door which, when the door is closed, is supported on a roller 26 which is rotatably attached to the guide rail 5.
On the edge strip facing the wall and on the underside of the door, elastic sealing strips 27 and 28 are expediently arranged for sealing against the wall and the floor.
The effect is now as follows:
Shortly before the closed position of the door is reached, the rollers 8 and 9 moving over the guide surface sink into the notches 15 and 16. The door's own weight pushes it against the wall as well as against the floor until the opening 2 is completely closed.
When the door is closed, the rollers 8 and 9 slide over the inclined surface, while the surface 12 on the underside of the door, which is parallel to this, is moved in the transverse direction via the guide cams 13 and 14.
As a result, a closing force acts on four points on the door. which, together with the sealing strips 27 and 28, provides a hermetic seal.
The roller 26, which has come into contact with the stop cam 25 when the door is closed, additionally presses the door down again and against the wall. The height of the cam 25 is expediently selected to be greater than the depth of each of the notches 15 and 16, which forms a safeguard against the rollers 8 and 9 slipping out of the depressions as a result of the inertia force occurring when the door is closed.
In order to then bring the door into the open position, it must be moved against its own weight and in the opposite direction to the above-described closing movement in such a way that the rollers 8 and 9 are pushed out of the notches 15 and 16.
To carry out this movement, the long lever arm 18 is pivoted in the direction of the opening position of the door. The short lever arm 19 then presses against the fixed stop 22 and pushes the door out of its closed position. The length ratio of the two lever arms ensures a large opening force acting on the door. It can then be postponed with little effort. If the door is opened further, the roller 8 passes the latch 16 without interacting with it.
The arrangement of the notches 15 and 16 offset in the transverse direction makes it possible to select their relative distance smaller than the greatest distance to be covered by the door. As a result, the total length of the hanging rail 5, in particular that of its protruding part next to the door opening, can be made as small as possible, which is advantageous when installing in restricted spaces.
The angular rotation of the lever arms 18 and 19 is restricted by a stop 20 when the door is opened and by a stop 21 when the door is closed.
When the door is moved a distance away from the closed position, the guide surface 23 is guided over the cam 24 in order to prevent the door from hitting the wall when a transverse force is exerted on it.
The effect of the hanger according to FIGS. 4 and 5 is the same as that described for the previous figures
However, the hanging rail 5 is provided here with separate running surfaces 32 and 33 in which the catches 15 and 16 are arranged, which interact with the rollers 8 and 9.
In this embodiment, the axis of the roller 9 cooperating with the running surface 33 is fastened to a bracket 29 arranged above the door 1.
